Long Tall Weekend is a downloadable album released by They Might Be Giants in 1999. It was released exclusively on-line through eMusic (see 1999 in music). It was the first major full-length album released exclusively on the Internet by an established major label band. [1] Many of these songs were outtakes from the Factory Showroom sessions. There were some copies of an actual Long Tall Weekend CD released at certain concerts, as well as some released to certain stores for promotional use.

Song notes

  • "Older" was re-recorded for They Might Be Giants' next album, Mink Car (2001)
  • "Edison Museum" was re-released on No! (2002)
  • "Rat Patrol", "Token Back to Brooklyn", "Reprehensible", "Certain People I Could Name" and "They Got Lost" later appeared on the rarities compilation album They Got Lost (2002)
  • "Token Back To Brooklyn" also previously appeared as a hidden track on the CD version of Factory Showroom (1996)
  • A live version of "They Got Lost" had been previously released on Severe Tire Damage (1998)
  • "On Earth My Nina" is a backwards version of the song "Thunderbird", which wouldn't get an official release until The Spine (2004). However, it isn't the actual song reversed; it is John Linnell singing what he heard when he reversed the song.
