All Time Low are not alternative rock

Alternative rock is Nirvana. Modern alt rock bands are Anarbor, The Dangerous Summer, and Anberlin and they have a distinctive sound. All Time Low is pop punk and pop rock, but definitely not alt rock.

'Rock' band?

All Time Low has always been known as a pop punk band. Alex Gaskarth stated in an interview their new album will have a rock sound but until the album is out, there isn't a source to call them rock. Jkim4007 (talk) 18:38, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

AfD?

How does this meet the Notability requirement for an Article in Wikipedia? Briefly stated, a band needs to meet at least one of these requirements, otherwise the Article should be deleted:

  • has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician/ensemble itself and reliable, e.g., newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, and television documentaries
  • has had a charted hit on any national music chart
  • has gone on an international or national concert tour
  • has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)
  • has won a major music award, such as a Grammy
  • has won or placed in a major music competition
  • has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network

Frankly, the first (most recently named one of Alternative Press's bands to watch in 2007 [1]) and the third (see article, many U.S. tours including the Warped Tour) requirements are met. --HarryCane 13:40, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, OK. I've added the significant Alternative Press "bands to watch in 2007" info. to the lead. JGHowes 20:51, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And they've also had a national tour...headlining it, in fact. They're definitely worthy of their own article. 165.235.8.8 (talk) 17:52, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, what happened to the article about Jack!? Mrs. Barakat

That was a borderline attack article, and besides, the guy really doensn't have much going for him beyond the band itself, so it makes more sense to put relevant information here instead. That article now redirects here. Chubbles 02:44, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey just wondering why theres not a pictures on here? I cant figure out how to put one, can anyone else? And what about an article on Jack? Sowrongitsjoeeeeee (talk) 00:36, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for putting the picture up, but what about a new picture. 69.255.115.12 (talk) 23:22, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Maria

Just wondering what their new song "dear maria" counts as. Its only one song long but itunes considers it a CD and it comes with a book. Single or CD?Sheepeh 21:53, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow we really need to add to this article. There's hardly anything there. --Sophiakorichi (talk) 01:36, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mistake

I believe "The Party Scene" was an EP and not an album, and that "Put Up Or Shut Up" was an album and not an EP. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Crazyveggiegurl (talkcontribs) 20:38, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, The Party Scene is an album, and Put Up or Shut Up is an EP. (Lewi1989 (talk) 17:28, 3 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Band Members

does anyone else think that there should be articles about the band members? I tried making them before but someone kept deleting them and i don't know why. does anyone else think there should be articles about them?Matt 2601 atl (talk) 11:19, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I definitely do. They are a band that's recognized enough and at least Alex and Jack deserve their own pages. Zack and Rian tend to stay in the background more and there isn't much to say about them (that I know of), but Alex especially because he writes the songs and well...there's a lot to say about him. Same goes for Jack...just not as much as Alex. 165.235.8.8 (talk) 17:53, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The reason why is because Wikipedia has criteria on what topics deserve their own article. The guideline involved is Wikipedia:Notability. For music topics, there is a secondary article discussing minimum criteria at WP:BAND. Chances are, the article was deleted because the information was not supported by independent secondary sources. Individual articles for the band members probably shouldn't be created until such an article can meet those criteria. -Verdatum (talk) 01:57, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Specifically, "Members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band, such as solo releases."  JGHowes talk 03:15, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • I see no one's going to clean up Wiki. You only want to delete the independent articles of smaller, less popular bands. No one's going to do jack shit about the Kele Okereke article or any of his band members because Bloc Party's popular. If you're going to not allow an article on Alex Gaskarth (I agree that the other members don't need their own articles, but Alex deserves one), then don't allow articles for each and every single one of Bloc Party's members. The same goes for other bands, I just don't feel like pointing them all out right now. 12.185.22.200 (talk) 19:45, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well there definitely needs to be quite a bit of cleanup around Wiki because I've seen quite a few independent pages for band members that do not meet that criteria. Check Anberlin's members. Really only Stephen has the right to have his independent page. The pages for the other band members should be deleted. Also, all the guys from Bloc Party have their individual pages. Their pages simply give detailed information on their backgrounds and their personal lives along with info on the instruments they play. Those seem to be accepted. If we were to make an individual page for Alex Gaskarth that resembeled the one for Kele Okereke, would it be kept or deleted?

Isn't it Alexx?

i thought the guy's name had two x's.

No, you're wrong. His name is Alexander William Gaskarth. One X. Check their Buzznet page, which they have control of themselves. It's one X.

All Time Low's UK debutt

{{editsemiprotected}}

This article says that All Time Low made their UK debut at the 2008 Give It A Name festival supporting the Plain White T's. This is incorrect. They did play at the 2008 GIAN fest., as did Plain White T's, but All Time Low's UK debut was back in September 2007 supporting the Plain White T's on their UK tour.

Hi, Lewi1989! Can you give any documentation to back that up? Maybe a link to a news article? Or even something on ATL's website? Thanks! -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 17:50, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

General Clean Up and some fixing up

I think that over the next week I am going to try and clean up this article and find more sources for the information. Everything in the article just seems too lumped together. Mygerardromance (talk) 14:56, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm doing this at the moment too. Just some rewording, fixing casing. Some of it doesn't read so well. cheers, Rebecca 210.54.6.17 (talk) 04:33, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All time low tours

Do they do a holiday tour every year? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.115.26.39 (talk) 05:18, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Weightless not a single

Weightless isn't a single. They're simply showing it to us before the album comes out. I'm gonna see if I can find it, but I distinctly remember Jack (maybe it was Alex, but I'm sure it was Jack) saying that it wasn't a single.

Nope, its the single.... Its the first single off the new album, They released it shortly before starting the Believers Never die part deux tour in order to allow fans to get a taste of the new record, and build up anticipation for the release.

Yes, but that doesn't make it a single. Releasing a song to the public doesn't mean it's a single off the album. I'm gonna try to gather some evidence and present it to Kiac. TanisterATL (talk) 22:19, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Can we have references for this? I've seen multiple people on either side of the argument, but neither has provided a valid citation. It should be removed until evidence is added from a WP:Reliable source. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 04:54, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is a single. They have a cover and eveything. It's the first single off of Nothing Personal. Check iTunes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sctms5 (talkcontribs) 03:52, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clean Up, Correct sources?

Surely the page is due for a clean up now and any poor sources removed now? It's been tagged for ages. Most of the sources seem correct. I'm going to edit and structure the article better. (LostLikeTearsInRain) 07 July 2009

I have been intending to do it! Just haven't gotten around to it! We have semi-protection at the moment so no IP vandals to waste our time! :) k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 06:33, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have completed clean up and edit. Added proper sources for charting positions and removed any improper sources. Rearranged some text to reduce introduction and moved relevant text under "History" section. (LostLikeTearsInRain - contribs) 01:08, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I've done a lot of work on it in the last couple of days. Mocked up a neat little photomontage for the infobox (which took ages getting all of the copyright notices done!). Discog is A-okay (thinking about making it its own article). Sources are a lot stronger now, maybe one or two would help, hopefully I come across some interviews or something with the new release having come out. Tours section needs to be merged into the History section, with references. Info on the first EP and album could be extended, but we'll obviously have trouble finding any significant coverage considering they were minimal releases by teenagers. Lead needs fixing up too. Could do with a Musical Style and Influences section and possibly Critical Reception or something, just for a more extensive coverage of the topic at hand. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 12:15, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from AllTimeLydia, 22 April 2010

{{editsemiprotected}} In the introduction on the page for the band "All Time Low" two of the members are introduced incorrectly. It is only a minor error, however the paragraph states "The band consists of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Alexander Gaskarth, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Jack Barakat...". It is true that Barakat is a backing vocalist and Gaskarth is lead vocals. It is not true however that Gaskarth is rhythm guitarist. The paragraph should state "...vocalist and lead guitarist Alexander Gaskarth, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Jack Barakat...". This information is correct according to the band's official Myspace music page (http://myspace.com/alltimelow).

Edit request from 24.207.197.79, 8 June 2010

{{editsemiprotected}} The tours section in this is not longer correct, all time low will no longer be headlining the bamboozle roadshow. they have been banned from all six flags for the duration of this due to an incident in texas.

Missing from the Wiki?

So yeah, there's some important info missing from this...

You don't have Alex and Jack's full names listed.. It should be..

Alex Gaskarth - Malibu Ken Jack Barakat - Lebanese terrorist Aladdin —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.76.216.133 (talk) 15:02, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Up All Night"?

This really doesn't sound legit. The citation for this album title leads to an interview where Alex specifically states "I have no idea what to call it", with "it" being the album. Now all of a sudden there's a 12-track listing for this album? If this truly isn't real, whoever came up with this really sucks at being believable. 99.111.185.216 (talk) 04:54, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Picture

I believe that there has to be a better picture of the band. One where you can see their faces clearly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.54.66.246 (talk) 02:16, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dirty Work

Is it time that we add that the new album will be titled "Dirty Work". It is already all over the internet except for here. It is even referred to on this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_Work

And further information: http://www.killyourstereo.com/news/7939/all-time-low-announce-forthcoming-album-title/
