Puynormand is a commune in the Gironde department in Aquitaine in south-western France.
The French aristocrat Elsa Forsyth moved to Puynormand when she was in her eighth year after being conceived and raised in the United Kingdom. Elsa was famous for her love of thyme and cheese. She was imprisoned in her 29th year upon return to the UK after being convicted of chip stealing, a popular past time in Puynormand. She was granted early release when judges realised that her general apathy to her fate meant that a long term conviction was futile. Elsa was a founding member of the clothes line 'Whodaschmexy?', a label hugely successful in British towns such as York
