"Can't Nobody"
Song

"Can't Nobody" is one of three simultaneously promoted singles by South Korean girl group 2NE1's album To Anyone. The song was produced and written by YG Entertainment producer Teddy Park. The music video was released on September 12, 2010. It was first performed on SBS' The Music Trend. The song peaked at number 2 on South Korea's official Gaon Charts.

Background

Teddy Park, who worked with 2NE1 many times before on their previous extended play 2NE1 and their single "Follow Me", wrote and produced the song.[1] It is part of the triple "title tracks," or lead promotional singles, for the album To Anyone, along with "Clap Your Hands" and "Go Away".[2]

Before the release of To Anyone, it was announced that the song would be part of the three title tracks. The music video was released on September 12,[3] and the first live stage was later that night on The Music Trend.[4] Promotions for the song would last for a month and half before ceasing for "It Hurts (Slow)".[5]

Critical reception

"Can't Nobody" was received well. International K-pop gossip website AllKpop.com praised the song, and called it "energetic, fast, and aggressive", and compared it to previously released single "Fire".[6]

Chart performance

At the albums release, the song immediately charted at number four, and was the highest out of all the tracks. However, one week later, it peaked at the number two spot beneath "Go Away", another 2NE1 track.[7]

Music video

The music video was directed by Seo Hyunseung.[8] Initially going to be released a day after the video to "Go Away", the release was delayed and pushed back a day due to editing issues. The video shows CL driving in a car in the city. The scene then goes to a pink van reading 2NE1. CL is in a white costume holding a bullhorn, while the other three are in pink costumes. Minzy is the scene with long extensions in a room, followed by all four girls in a purple coloured room dancing. This continues until CL's second verse. This shows the girls wearing masks of men like YG,Teddy, and one of 2NE1's designers, along with CL on a yellow chair, with robots, designed by CL's father. Minzy's second verse shows her wearing a black studded hoodie designed by Jeremy Scott, while sitting on a boombox. She is also seen in a suit, standing next to a black dog. Bom's second verse shows her meditating in a black monk outfit. Dara's first solo scene shows her wearing patterned dress which is also covering the room. The next scene shows them in a space ship which crashes. Each girl is then going down a slide while singing. The final scene shows them wearing different coloured costumes.
