The Original Barnstar

The Original Barnstar
awarded for your amazing work on Fayetteville-Manlius High School, adding quantified information from multiple sources.

Wow! You've done a really outstanding job on this article. Kudos! Karen | Talk | contribs 01:29, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not really related, but thank you for replacing the HTML cruft at the top of the FMCSD page. I was looking for a school district specific infobox but I couldn't find one. I suppose the HS one does just as well. vlad§inger tlk 01:40, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DJVac

Just thought I'd let you know he's trying to put those same link collections into the Tops article now. I see you didn't get anywhere trying to discuss these things. He has reverted my edits once without explanation ... I really don't feel like taking this to 3RR. But your failure to get him to resolve differences of opinion (i.e., follow policy) and mine, if that happens, gives us enough for an RFC if it has to go that far. Daniel Case 18:34, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've had it with him after his latest revert. I will be taking this to WP:AN/I and possibly WP:3RR. Daniel Case 01:48, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My compliments on a very cool username. Are you aware of the Bella Fleck song of the same name?

Welcome

Hi saw your recent assessment and thought I'd say welcome to a new person. I also looked at the school you got a barnstar for and yes it looks good. I'm going to steal your REF box on your front page. If only we could get all our editors to use them then we would increase the quality of articles tremendously. So again welcome. Victuallers 07:46, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to echo Victuallers' sentiments and add my own. I hope you enjoy assessing and decide to stay. Adam McCormick 16:04, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Images

Hello. I added some images to the page. I try my best, but be aware there are some technical flaws like JPEG artifacts that I, nor anyone else stuck with a consumer level camera can overcome. If you feel that these are "awful", feel free to remove them. However, I do feel that any relevant image adds, rather than detracts from an article. Good luck with the GA nomination. You've done a good job. vlad§inger tlk 03:20, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District you nominated as a good article has failed , see Talk:Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of said article. If you oppose this decision, you may ask for a review. Syracuse revives...

Hi Sinisterminister -- Just a note to claim that Wikipedia:WikiProject Syracuse, New York is at least somewhat revived, with a couple people contributing and a good number of new articles. See the new article list on the main webpage of the project. I noticed you mentioned being on the east side of Syracuse. I wonder in particular if you could snap some pics of some historic homes in east side neighborhoods, for articles like those I have started working on that address Camillus and west side neighborhoods. Anyhow, hope you can return and participate! doncram (talk) 01:29, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Syracuse basketball

Thanks for your help on the Syracuse basketball page. Let's hope we don't get upset in the first round again. GoCuse44 (talk) 23:25, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please note, the offical Syracuse University color is orange. It is not orange and blue, just orange. You can check the university website: http://www.syr.edu/aboutsu/memorabilia/orange.html --Fsobierajski (talk) 02:41, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Big East Basketball

I see you were very active in editing the 2009 Big East Men's Basketball Tournament. You should create a page like 2008–09 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball season or 2008–09 Big Ten Conference men's basketball season for the Big East since it is doing so well this year.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 23:35, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, there's no rationale on the image page for this use, and so you really shouldn't be adding it. Secondly, regardless of whether it is "standard practice" to use non-free images incorrectly, what the team logo looks like is completely unimportant when discussing the team's performance in a certain year. Please do not edit war over this; our non-free content criteria are as much a policy as any other, and anyone who persistently violates them will face blocks. J Milburn (talk) 18:15, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I remove problem images when and where I see them. I'm not targetting you or your articles in any way. As for the passive aggressive tone- yes, I was warning you. I did not appreciate your reversions. J Milburn (talk) 19:41, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome to report me whereever you like, but you'd be wasting your time. Part of the reason I'm rather hasty in my replies is that I'd rather be dealing with other things. Further, the fact that there happens to be a "rationale" on the image page doesn't suddenly mean the image is required. It's simply adding nothing to those articles, and we use non-free content as a last resort, when the article would be severly lacking without it. J Milburn (talk) 20:14, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see you've taken the liberty of adding the image back to the year articles. It does not belong there. Again, please be aware that edit warring, and lack of regard for our non-free content critieria, may lead to blocks. J Milburn (talk) 20:21, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that a non-free image's use can be valid on many articles. That doesn't mean that this one is... That discussion has little to do with what we're discussing here, as far as I can see. J Milburn (talk) 20:44, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There is a longstanding consensus that in the article about the team, the logo is useful. This is not any article about the team; it is the article about the team. For comparison, we do not need a non-free image of the cover of the book in the articles about every character. Any usage of the logo beyond this is going to have to be individually demonstrated as useful- you can't just assume it's ok. J Milburn (talk) 21:32, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great work.

Nice work on Syracuse basketball. Really appreciate the hard work you've put into the page. GoCuse44 (talk) 04:13, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Running Man Barnstar
For great work on Syracuse basketball GoCuse44 (talk) 04:12, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion has begun about whether the article NCAA Division I men's basketball coaches wins list, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/NCAA Division I men's basketball coaches wins list until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Jrcla2 (talk) 15:44, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cuomo introduction

You're right. Since the article cited discusses "swearing in." I've changed the text to "been sworn in" instead of "assumed office." I think you'll agree that this is accurate and relevant. Please do not alter this accurate edit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.73.50.195 (talk) 19:15, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please see your talk page for my responses. And please follow the Talk page guidelines when writing on this or other talk pages. Sinisterminister (talk) 22:36, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think we both violated wikipedia policy on the WP:3RR rule. I'm a rookie so I didn't know but shame on you. To be fair to the community, I think we should both be blocked or whatever the appropriate punishment is. Sorry things got so personal between us. 75.73.50.195 (talk) 01:37, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cuomo

Just a note to be cautious about WP:3RR on Andrew Cuomo. Dreadstar 22:28, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I have refrained from editing the page, but assure you that I have been acting in good faith, and have requested editor assistance, as well as engaged the article's discussion page. Sinisterminister (talk) 22:33, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I totally understand and agree, just a fair note in light of this one.  :) Dreadstar 22:43, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring

Let me point out our policy on edit warring, which states "An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether it involves the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Violations of the 3RR rule normally attract blocks of at least 24 hours.". You've already crossed the 3RR boundary on Andrew Cuomo and further reverts may result in blocks. 75.73.50.195 (talk) 16:14, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
