"When It's Time"
Song

"When It's Time" is a song by the American rock band Green Day. The single was released in the UK through Reprise Records on June 11, 2010[2].

Background

The song was originally recorded for their seventh album American Idiot in 2004, [citation needed] though it appeared on American Idiot: The Original Broadway Cast Recording in 2010. It was originally written many years ago around the time Kerplunk was released for Armstrong's wife, Adrienne Armstrong. The single is available in the UK iTunes store along with on Amazon's digital download service. The song made rare appearances during encores on the 2009 leg of the 21st Century Breakdown Tour, played solo by Armstrong on an acoustic guitar. The song also appeared on most setlists during the European 2010 tour, opening the acoustic encore. It is the third single not to be accompanied by a music video, the others being "She" and "J.A.R." Due to the sensitive nature of the lyrics, the director of the American Idiot musical Michael Mayer was given special permission to feature an acoustic solo version sung by John Gallagher, Jr. for as a number for the production.
