Wikipedia:Graphics Lab/Photography workshop
The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. For questions or suggestions one can use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps.
This specific page is the requests page for the photography workshop. Anyone can make a request for a photograph to be improved for a Wikipedia article. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

Graphists and other visitors to the Graphics Lab may be interested in the RSS feed of changes to this page. You may find it here. |
Graphists, if you have completed work and have not received a reply from the requester, you may place the {{GL Photography reply}} template on their talk page. |
If you are looking for something to do, there are plenty of images with watermarks to be removed and files that need cleanup. See also our sister Photography workshop at Commons |
Haakon VII of Norway
Article(s): Haakon VII of Norway
Request: Clean up, adjust contrast. Vearthy (talk) 17:03, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
Graphist opinion(s): Done Hope this is okay. – Kerαunoςcopia◁galaxies 20:02, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
- It's good, thanks but I don't like the face as it looks now. It's a bit too blurry with those unneeded dots. Vearthy (talk) 20:18, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- I've removed the spots. What do you think? – Kerαunoςcopia◁galaxies 23:14, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- Compared to the original photo, left side of the man's face is brighter while the right side is nearly as dark. Vearthy (talk) 19:56, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- I've removed the spots. What do you think? – Kerαunoςcopia◁galaxies 23:14, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- The face is now the same brightness as the original. I didn't want to lighten the shadows and keep the highlights the same level, that would ruin the contrast. What do you think? – Kerαunoςcopia◁galaxies 21:00, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Another simple crop request

Aerial view of the kame
Article(s): Zimmerman Kame, although not in use there yet
Request: The bottom right corner of this image shows part of the wing of the aircraft in which I was flying when I took the photograph. Could you please crop enough of the right side of the photo to get rid of it? Moreover, could you crop out some of the top? The subject of the photo is the kame that's slightly off-center to the bottom left; I'd appreciate it if you could crop the image so that it shows only the area highlighted in the image note plus a buffer zone around the image note. Please upload it under the same filename. Nyttend (talk) 14:29, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Cenk Uygur image needs logo-washing and shadow work

Cenk at the Streamy Awards
Article(s): Cenk Uygur
Request: I think this nice image could be either cropped or filled in some of the background to reduce the corporate presence. Also, perhaps a little shadow work could even out the lighting. Thanks very much. Ocaasi c 22:26, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- I took a shot at it here: File:Cenk_Uygur_at_Streamys_cropped.jpg. It's pretty basic but maybe works.

Want a 2π-unrolled version of our existing π-unrolled animation
-
Image of π being unrolled
Article(s): Radian, Turn (geometry), Perimeter and Circumference
Request: This is a great animation, and this is a request for a (relatively minor) variant of it. The current version shows a circle of diameter one whose circumference is π. In many contexts it would be nice to have a version where the circle has radius one instead (diameter two) and a circumference of 2π. I'd be glad to take this to Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Illustration workshop if desired, but I thought I'd start here since this is a raster image (and as far as I know, we don't have support yet for any form of animated SVG). The new image would not replace the existing one but would have a new name (Twopi-unrolled.gif, I suppose, unless someone has a better idea). Discussion of the mathematics is at File talk:Pi-unrolled-720.gif#Radians and WT:MATH has been consulted (on 23 April 2011). Kingdon (talk) 01:32, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- This is definitely an illustration request. – Kerαunoςcopia◁galaxies 09:26, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Einsteinium
Article(s): Einsteinium
Request: Please rotate the einsteinium image to fit the einsteinium infobox (similar to File:Protactinium.jpg) Lanthanum-138 (talk) 08:29, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
Also crop out the unessential stuff at the top. Lanthanum-138 (talk) 07:02, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- I don't mean to be presumptuous, but that's an image of a vial (as explained in the description), so it's supposed to be upright. The image fits the infobox fine. Images don't have to be horizontal for infoboxes. – Kerαunoςcopia◁galaxies 07:38, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
