The Third Testament?
According to a certain Internet group the title of this album is to be The Third Testament and will be a 3 CD collection. While this is just "rumor" the same sources accurately released the information that Madonna's last album would be called Hard Candy. If anybody comes across any information online relating to this please add to the article along with links. Apex156 (talk) 08:47, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- Could you possibly give us the link to were u got this infomation from. I'll try and find some other sources that state this infomation. --Sticky&Sweet12 (talk) 12:01, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Iconography?
Now, i think it's time we talk about this. A group of editors are adding the title of the album as "Iconography". Now they are not providing reliable source for this and this is also a rumor. So, what are we going to do about this? --Sticky&Sweet12 (talk) 10:32, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
- Complete revert. No other qualms about it. If they still persist, they have to be blocked. --Legolas (talk2me) 14:59, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Croatia was the first country where Celebration was released. Sales started at midnight 17th/18th this month, 2 days ago. You might want to mind that.
- Yeah, along with Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia. YOU might want to mind that. RayOfLight (talk) 16:38, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
Is this CD going to be 2002-2010 or whole career
Everyone is saying so may different things? Is it going to be just the last three records and Imagine and Hey You or will it cover her whole career with Warner? Jdcrackers (talk) 19:49, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
- Please be reminded that this is not a forum to discuss such things. Discuss only stuff which are for improvement of the article. --Legolas (talk2me) 03:40, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

I assume you must not be aware of WP:NOTFORUM. I'm sure there are tons of other sites like pulsemusic or blogs where you can ask these questions. Cheers! --Legolas (talk2me) 13:49, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

This question should be addressed to contrast it to GHV2, like a spray of fresh water. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.138.128.151 (talk) 16:20, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Celebration?
I'm not entirely sure that it's the album name since I don't know whether or not MadonnaTribe.com is a notable site or just another unreliable fan site, I don't mean to be bias but I don't feel like that's the official album title. Thoughts? --Taylor Karras (talk) 15:06, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
- I think Celebration is just facruft! MadonnaTribe is a fan site...--12345abcxyz20082009 (talk) 20:15, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
As a long time Madonna fan who frequents multiple Madonna sites, I have witnessed myself that 98% of all rumours posted on MadonnaTribe are true or very close to true. I think we can be assured that in the coming weeks we'll discover that the new single is indeed Celebrate and the collection is called Celebration. It's a shame as I really liked ICONOGRAPHY as the title. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.91.165.36 (talk) 10:17, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry and broken
The songs I'm sorry and broken as mentioned in Attitude magazine were confirmed to be the same song. It was a misprint in the magazine. It is rumored that song was to be titled Broken (I'm Sorry), although it would appear that this song will not even make the "Celebration" (Greatest hits) collection. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.91.165.36 (talk) 10:15, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- Also, the article Celebrate (Madonna song) should be deleted as per fancruft. --12345abcxyz20082009 (talk) 19:08, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
A Celebrate Article?
Should there be a article created for the new single? A remix has now leaked. "Celebrate" (Oakenfold 12" Dub Remix), we also have infomation about the music video and a 20 second preview has been leaked. So is it time for an article yet? --Sticky&Sweet12 (talk) 04:59, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
- At present the information available for the article fails WP:SONGS to have its own article. Let's wait for a few days, maybe untill the songs goes for adds to the radio, then we can start. --Legolas (talk2me) 14:19, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

The title has been confirmed to be Celebration.--Legolas (talk2me) 05:30, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Revolver
Revolver has NOT been confirmed as the second new track on the album. The official press release does not mention it at all and Billboard says it is rumoured to be on the album - this is NOT a CONFIRMED track listing. Paul75 (talk) 11:33, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Not only have madonnatribe AND drownedmadonna both confirmed that Revolver is indeed on the album but madonnatribe also confirmed it will be released as a single. It's been officially confirmed that Celebration will have 2 new songs and Ciaran Gribbin(one of the producers of Celebration and Broken) has already confirmed that "Broken" will not be on the Celebration album so that only leaves Revolver as the second song. Keep crying all you want about "official confirmation" but Revolver WILL BE on the album. You'll see —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.17.216.148 (talk) 17:56, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Number of tracks
The article says that the album will feature 34 tracs. That is not correct. The front page of Madonna.com states that it will feature "34 songs that changed the world plus new music"[1], and the press releases says that "two new songs" will be included.[2] This means that the album will feature a total of 36 songs.--130.226.70.114 (talk) 14:58, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

- MadonnaTribe is not an official site. It is a fansite, and as such cannot be regarded as reliable. MadonnaTribe have since taken down their post on the "official" tracklisting, which indicates to me they have been threatened into action by Warner. The tracklisting that was on this page is not reliable, and I don't think it should be reinstated until we have official confirmation. Paul75 (talk) 09:34, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
MadonnaTribe has NOT taken down their post on the tracklisting Paul75. That is a lie! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.17.216.148 (talk) 18:13, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- Unsigned, whoever you are, when I wrote the above, the link to the alleged tracklisting was directing to an error page. It was not available, read into that what you will. Madonna Tribe's "exclusive" was wrong anyway, so much for them being a reliable source. Paul75 (talk) 10:06, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- I wouldn't say that MadonnaTribe were wrong. They only aspect of their exclusive that wasn't accurate was the order of a few songs. All songs mentioned in their exclusive were confirmed to be included on the album.--130.226.70.114 (talk) 19:52, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Seperate Article for Celebration DVD?
I believe that we should begin a seperate article for the DVD for "Celebration". I was just thinking if it was possible if we can do this? --Sticky&Sweet12 (talk) 08:06, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Only the tracklisting has been confirmed. Let's just wait a few more days when I believe more info regarding the DVD, versions of the videos etc will come up and we can start a new page. --Legolas (talk2me) 08:37, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
iTunes releases
Please note that the Deluxe and Premium versions are exclusive to the US and Canada. All other iTunes Stores list the so-called "Bonus Tracks Version" mentioned in the article.
In Belgium, however, the Deluxe Version is the only version available. The Belgian edition of the Deluxe Version features the same tracks as the Bonus Tracks Version, but omits "Frozen".
This indicates that Celebration might not get a physical release in Belgium, since "Frozen" may not be sold or aired in any form in Belgium.

Revolver does not feature lil wayne only the demo version has little wayne madonna took the demo reworked the lyrics and reworked it without lil wayne —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.240.63.54 (talk) 17:13, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
- Madonna.com already confirmed that Lil Wayne is indeed featured on the album version of "Revolver". Furthermore, according to the Warner Chappell and ASCAP databases, the song was written by Carlos Centel Battey, Steven Andre Battey, Dwayne Carter, Justin Scott Franks, Brandon Kitchen, and Madonna. The Battey brothers are better known as The Jackie Boyz, whereas Dwayne Carter is known to the public as Lil Wayne.--130.226.70.114 (talk) 19:45, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
certification
RIAA counts each album twice if it is a 2-disc edition and has over 100 minutes; now, considering Celebration with 2 CDs meets this criteria, if, say, it sells 500,000 copies in the US, will it receive Platinum certification? --12345abcxyz20082009 (talk) 10:08, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Article intro
...states that this is the third greatest hits collection. Wouldn't Something to Remember count, thus making this Madonna's fourth hits compilation? Thoughts? - eo (talk) 17:20, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- It's true that Celebration is Madonna's fourth compilation album overall, not including You Can Dance and Remixed & Revisited. However, Something to Remember was a collection of ballads, not a greatest hits collection. Some of the songs included on Something to Remember were not even released as singles.--80.63.69.205 (talk) 17:31, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah I figured that may be the general consensus. No worries. - eo (talk) 12:19, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Covers
Celebration was released yesterday in Slovenia and I can confirm Madonnatribe were right, the cover on the page actually isn't the right one, as there are actually lyrics written all over the cover and the standard edition in grey tone is also out. Should this be changed or should we leave the wrong cover? RayOfLight (talk) 08:02, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- It's a glitch. In the article, it displays as the non-text version, but clicking on the photo actually shows the official version. I'll fix it. MaJic Talk 2 Me. I'll Listen. 18:36, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
Song versions
Most songs on Celebration are included in their album versions, but not all.
Shouldn't it be noted somewhere in the article if a song is featured in a version that differs from its album version?
CD 1:
01. Hung Up (Unmixed album version)
02. Music
03. Vogue (Q-Sound Mix)
04. 4 Minutes (Radio edit)
05. Holiday
06. Everybody (New edit, previously unreleased)
07. Like a Virgin (Q-Sound Mix)
08. Into the Groove
09. Like a Prayer
10. Ray of Light (Radio edit)
11. Sorry (Single edit)
12. Express Yourself (New edit, previously unreleased)
13. Open Your Heart (Q-Sound Mix)
14. Borderline (Q-Sound Mix)
15. Secret (Radio edit)
16. Erotica (Radio edit)
17. Justify My Love
18. Revolver
- The Celebration version of "Express Yourself" is very similar to the Video Version, but the intro and outro are slightly different, and the song is shorter by 55 seconds, overall.
- Probably due to a mastering error, the Celebration version of "Erotica" skips a beat at 3:28 on both digital and physical copies of the album.
CD 2:
01. Dress You Up
02. Material Girl
03. La Isla Bonita
04. Papa Don't Preach
05. Lucky Star (New edit, previously unreleased)
06. Burning Up
07. Crazy for You (Q-Sound Mix)
08. Who's That Girl
09. Frozen (Extended album version - 9 seconds longer than the original)
10. Miles Away (Radio edit)
11. Take a Bow
12. Live to Tell
13. Beautiful Stranger
14. Hollywood
15. Die Another Day
16. Don't Tell Me (Radio edit with the last few seconds cut off)
17. Cherish (New edit, previously unreleased)
18. Celebration
- Probably due to a mastering error, the Celebration version of "Dress You Up" skips the three first beats of the intro.
- The Celebration version of "Lucky Star" is very similar to the Q-Sound Mix, but has a different intro and outro.
- The edit of "Frozen" included on the single disc edition of the album is previously unreleased. It's differs slightly from the official Radio Edit.
- The Celebration version of "Cherish" is based on the Album Version, but edited down to the length of the Q-Sound Mix.
--130.226.70.114 (talk) 08:47, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- Has there been an official statement about the awful mastering job done on this compilation? Erotica, Lucky Star, Borderline and other sound horrible and distorted, the prime example being Erotica. The skips as well. Everything is unforgivable, the errors are present in both itunes and physical formats. Not to mention the typos in the booklet.
Tracklisting/Versions
There is no details of the versions in the official tracklisting nor the CD or iTunes versions. All tracks are remastered, so are considered new versions of all the tracks. Not one of them is "1990 Q Sound Mix", although they may be similar edits. As no edit information has been detailed in any of the tracklistings, it should NOT be mentioned on the page. Could users please stop adding this mis-information on the page as it is not official, edits are often used in Greatest Hits packages, but as none are detailed in the tracklisting, it is not appropriate. Thanks JWAD talk 11:26, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Tied with Elvis as solo artist with most UK no.1 albums
After Celebration went to no.1 in the UK, it was reported that Madonna has now tied with Elvis Presley as the solo artist with the most UK no.1 albums (11 in all). However, this figure also includes the Evita soundtrack which is not technically a Madonna album as other artists are featured on it. Madonna doesn't even perform on all of the songs. The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) also list Evita as an OST (original soundtrack album), not a Madonna album. The BPI are the highest authority as far as music sold in the UK goes, and they have a searchable database for certified records here: [1] (type in "Evita" and select "search by title"). I have no problem with allowing the reported "Madonna ties with Elvis" news story into the article, but it should also include the highly notable detail about her tally including Evita so that readers of the article can make up their own minds about whether or not she really has matched Elvis's record. Please also note that suppression of this detail by rabid Madonna fans will be considered a violation of WP:NPOV. Thank you. 80.41.66.87 (talk) 06:56, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- Unsourced additions are a complete violation of WP:V and will be reverted whether you like it or not. So stop adding unsourced content, else such addition will be reported to ANI. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:23, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- From what I can see in the edit history, the OP did source the information and you still removed it. I can also see you received a warning about edit warring due to this particular edit, so stop making ridiculous threats or you will be the one who gets reported. Much like the Michael Jackson article pages, the Madonna articles tend to attract mental fans who want to turn them into a shrine for their idol. It will not be tolerated. Wikipedia is meant to be an impartial encyclopedia, not a Madonna fansite. I have also removed the information about her equaling Elvis Presley (which is a matter of opinion/POV anyway, even if it has been reported in the press) from the lead section as it is mentioned later in the article and including only half of the information in the lead section is a violation of WP:UNDUE. If you want to have the details of Madonna's so-called record of matching Elvis Presley in the lead, then you need to include it properly and not just the bits that are flattering towards her. Does China have an albums chart? Or just Hong Kong? I saw this: Template:Ro icon [2] and it seems that Celebration is very promoted there. It could be a big hit. --12345abcxyz20082009 (talk) 15:32, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Revolver next single?
Although it has not been officially confirmed yet, it seems likely that "Revolver" will be released as the second single off Celebration. Warner Music Australia has released the song as a promotional single to radios, David Guetta played his remix of the song during one of his DJ sets, and a photo of what may well be the official cover of the single is circulating online. Madonna's manager, Guy Oseary, has posted a comment on Twitter which indicates that the David Guetta remix is official[3].--130.226.70.114 (talk) 16:53, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- The above mentioned cover art was fanmade, but for some reason, Warner Australia attached the image to their mail to all radio stations and digital media outlets about the release of "Revolver" (along with a digital copy of the song itself).--130.226.70.114 (talk) 20:03, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Professional reviews section
this section seems to have been tampered with. please whoever you are, it is obvious you love Madonna. And thats a great thing. but this needs to stop. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mo8500 (talk • contribs) 03:51, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

- All the reviews were changed to 5 stars on 5 by someone, including the one by NME. It seems to be ok now. Mo8500 (talk) 10:20, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm with you, Mo8500. All the reviews quoted in the Critical reception section were just the ones that are just downright positive about this compilation. Having read the reviews, I also found out that some of them had their doubts about something (Rolling Stone and The Guardian, for an example), and some were not even close to the 'hurrah, what a great compilation album' mood. So I've added them, giving the section a more balanced view. I hope that this section won't be unbalanced again, for if it does I will ask for a reassessment. I mean, how can ányone give an article that is unbalanced, and perhaps even biased, the recognition of being a 'good article'? Robster1983 (talk) 07:03, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Tried to balance it even more by also mentioning the negative sides in a positive review, and the positive sides in a negative review. I think this sums it all up. General reviews were mostly positive, mostly earning 4 out of 5 stars (instead of the full five) because of ommited songs, the inclusion of certain songs, or the strange sequencing of the songs. Mixed/negative reviews agreed that her early years outweigh her later career, although there are strong songs after 1990. Robster1983 (talk) 07:46, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Revolver to be released in December
Warner Music Germany's latest B2B newsletter states that "Revolver" will be released as a single in Germany on 11 December. This corresponds to information published by the UK record industry trade paper, Music Week, which states that "Revolver" will be released as a single in the UK on 14 December.--130.226.70.114 (talk) 16:43, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
- Can you provide a link for these statements? --Legolas (talk2me) 14:25, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- No, those webpages are accessable only for subscribers. Both are published in print as well, but also only for subscribers. However, I expect this information to be published by Madonna.com within a few days. I know that it is no official source, but a friend of mine works professionally as a DJ has been told by Warner Music Denmark that promos will be sent out to DJs by the end of next week. --130.226.70.114 (talk) 18:51, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- I still know that it's no official source, but I just received an e-mail from Warner Music Denmark stating that "Revolver" will indeed be released as a single. They haven't received final confirmation of the release date, but it will be released in Denmark on the same day as in the UK. --130.226.70.114 (talk) 14:19, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm, since there are lack of sources our best bait is to wait for untill third party sources or official release statements come up. --Legolas (talk2me) 03:46, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

- Warner Music Netherlands confirmed today via Madonna.nl, the website of the official Dutch Madonna fanclub, that "Revolver (One Love Remix)" has been released to Dutch radios. The track is credited to Madonna vs. David Guetta and comes in two different edits, one of which features Lil Wayne. The commercial release date is TBA, but it has been confirmed that no video will be shot. http://www.madonna.nl --130.226.70.114 (talk) 15:50, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- There you go, promo release it seems. Can you provide a permanent link? --Legolas (talk2me) 05:38, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

- No, those webpages are accessable only for subscribers. Both are published in print as well, but also only for subscribers. Here's one. Translated, it says:

David Guetta - "Revolver (One Love Remix)" to radio stations. There is a version "featuring Lil Wayne" and 1 without the rapper. The digital release (download) date is not yet known. There will also-as expected-no video.

UK end-of-year charts
The source given for this (UKchartsplus.co.uk) is not an official UK Charts Company website, despite the fact it incorporates similar logos. They are an independent website run by four music fans (or "chartwatchers" as they call themselves). Their "FAQ" section makes it clear that they are not affiliated with the Official UK Charts Company, as does the "Background" section (here: http://www.ukchartsplus.co.uk/background.htm). The website was used as a source to claim that "Celebration" was the 40th best selling album in the UK in 2009. However, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) - who are the offical music industry authority in the UK - compile their own year end charts, and "Celebration" is not even in the Top 40. The BPI year-end charts (from 1999 onwards) are here: http://www.bpi.co.uk/assets/files/Yearly%20best%20sellers%20-%20albums.pdf 88.104.21.251 (talk) 23:14, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
