Anubhav Sinha (born 22 June 1965) is an Indian film director known in particular for his recent work as a director in the Bollywood film-Tum Bin(2001 film). He is currently directing the upcoming Shahrukh Khan starrer Ra.One

Biography

Anubhav Sinha was born in Allahabad to Prem Govind Sinha and Sushila Sinha. He did his schooling in Kalagarh, Garhwal. He also attended the Government Inter College and the Allahabad and Queen's College in Varanasi. He completed his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He has no bollywood background. He was the first person in his family to join TV industry. Later his brother and wife also join him in his production venture. Apart from his real brother and wife his 2nd cousin Piyush Srivastava is also in TV industry. Piyush is a Special Correspondent and news anchor with Zee News, which is India's leading media house.

Career

He worked for two years in New Delhi as an engineer before moving to Mumbai (then Bombay) on 4 December 1990. He worked as an assistant director to Pankuj Parashar until 1994 before branching out as an independent director with some episodes of a TV show for Zee TV. The work that got him noticed was Shikasht the flagship show of the TV Network "In Mumbai". This was followed by hugely successful TV show Sea Hawks for UTV. Sea Hawks was the number one show for thirty five weeks across all networks. Seventy Two episodes later He sprouted into the fast emerging music video scene.

Three years and 75 music videos later in 2000 he retired from the much embellished throne of The Music video Mughal to start his first feature filmTum Bin. 13 July 2001 saw the release of his first feature with one of the biggest films of the year, Aks also released on the same day. Tum Bin not only beat its rival on the box office, the featuring rank newcomers in the lead parts still remains one of the most remembered musical love stories with a fresh cast, in a long time.

His second feature Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha hai again with rather lesser known actors in the lead did not fare well at the box office but his next Dus, his first multi starrer turned out to be the biggest opening weekend for the year 2005. This was followed by highly acclaimed Tathastu (2006) and his last release Cash (2007).
