Alec Sulkin is an American television writer. Most notable for writing and producing several episodes of the animated series Family Guy, he has also contributed to The Cleveland Show, another series by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane.

Early career

Sulkin was also a writer for The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, during the show's first three years. While there, he met current writing partner Wellesley Wild.[1]

Family Guy

Sulkin joined Family Guy in 2005, and has since produced and written multiple episodes, including the hour-long Star Wars homage, "Blue Harvest", as well as "Chick Cancer", "Stew-Roids", and "Stu and Stewie's Excellent Adventure".

In August 2010 Sulkin and his writing partner Wellesley Wild signed a three-year pact with 20th Century Fox TV.[2] The two will continue working on Family Guy and also develop their own show.[3] It is likely to be live action comedy rather than animation, although Wild said "We've been throwing around both ideas."[4]

Twitter

In addition to television writing, Sulkin has garnered a sizable following on the social networking service, Twitter. With an observational and often self-deprecating humor style, he usually tweets daily under the user name @thesulk.[5]

In March 2011, Sulkin caused a controversy by posting the following joke on Twitter: "If you wanna feel better about this earthquake in Japan, google 'Pearl Harbor death toll.'"[6][7] Sulkin made the comment one day after the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake, which killed over 10,000 people in Japan. The following day, Sulkin deleted the joke and apologized, saying the post was insensitive and that he had not realized the extent and severity of the disaster.[8]

Private life

Sulkin began dating comedian Sarah Silverman in early 2010.[9] The pair met via Twitter, after Silverman sent him a personal message. They split up months later (October 2010) and remain friends.[10]
