Harper's Island is a horror thriller/mystery mini-series created by Ari Schlossberg for CBS's 2008–2009 television season. The series premiered on April 9, 2009, at 10:00 pm ET/PT. Harper's Island had only one season with 13 episodes.[1] At least one character (or as many as five) were killed off during each episode. The first three episodes aired on Thursdays, but CBS moved the program to Saturdays during the week of April 28. The final episode aired on July 11. The series is currently being rebroadcast on the Chiller TV network.

The series was shot on Bowen Island, an island municipality about two kilometers west of Vancouver in British Columbia, and at the University of British Columbia.

The actors and actresses were not told about their characters' deaths until the day that each script was given.[2] The only actor to know the length of his contract was Richard Burgi, as his death was seen as a major turning point in the series.[3]

Cast and characters

Main cast

Co-Stars

Other Stars

  • Callum Keith Rennie as John Wakefield, The Legend, the perpetrator of the 2001 murders. (Although Callum Keith Rennie was not part of the 25 main stars, he was credited as a guest star)
  • Dean Wray as Cole Harkin, The Survivor, the survivor of the 2001 murders and the sheriff's former deputy.

Development

In March 2008, CBS ordered a 15-minute pilot presentation of the project. In May 2008, the show was retooled, with Jeffrey Bell coming onboard as showrunner and Jon Turteltaub as an executive producer. Schlossberg remained onboard as a co-executive producer along with Karim Zriek and Dan Shotz.[10]

Bell subsequently rewrote the first episode which Jon Turteltaub would direct. During the retooling process, six of the pilot presentation's fifteen original cast members were replaced, including Ryan Merriman (Henry Dunn), Samantha Noble (Trish Wellington), Bill Dow (Sheriff Mills) and Bill Pullman (Uncle Marty). The roles of Thomas Wellington and Hunter Jennings were also recast.[11]

Actors who remained with the show from pilot-presentation to the aired television pilot include Elaine Cassidy, Cameron Richardson, Adam Campbell, C.J. Thomason, Matt Barr, Cassandra Sawtell, Brandon Jay McLaren, Chris Gauthier and Sean Rogerson.[12]

Plot

The television show is a horror thriller/mystery, described as Scream meets And Then There Were None[citation needed].

The show takes place on Harper's Island, where John Wakefield went on a killing spree and murdered a number of people before supposedly being killed by the island sheriff, Charlie Mills. One of the victims was the sheriff's wife. After her death, the Sheriff Mills sent their daughter, Abby, to live with family in LA and she hasn't returned since. After 7 years, Abby is finally returning to the island for her best friend Henry's wedding but now the killing starts again and everyone is a suspect. The guests manage to unlock secrets of the island and of Wakefield as the series progresses.

In addition to a web series based on the show, CBS's multimedia promotion includes a live online chat on a Fancast Forum each week with the "murder victim" from the Saturday night U.S. broadcast, where questions and comments from viewers trying to solve the mystery are encouraged, as well as providing a behind-the-scenes view from the series.

The titles for the episodes of Harper's Island are onomatopoeic and based on the sound that is made when the victim dies:[citation needed]
Whap: The sound made during Uncle Marty's dismemberment.
Crackle: The sound of Lucy burning to death.
Ka-Blam: The sound of Hunter opening the hood of the boat and the shotgun shooting his face off.
Bang: The sound of Booth accidentally shooting himself.
Thwack: The sound of the headspade falling from the chandelier and going through Thomas' head.
Sploosh: The sound of the harpoon pulling Richard back after going through him.
Thrack, Splat, Sizzle: The sound of Malcolm being hit; the sound of blood; and the sound of Malcolm's hand touching the furnace.
Gurgle: The sound of J.D. bleeding to death after being cut open.
Seep: Katherine's blood seeping from the sheets of the couch after being stabbed in the back with pruning shears.
Snap: The sound of Sheriff Mills' neck snapping from a rope.
Splash: The sound of Cal hitting the water after being murdered and thrown off a bridge by John Wakefield; the sound of Chloe falling in the water after committing suicide upon witnessing Cal's death.
Gasp: The sound of Trish gasping for air after being stabbed.
Sigh: The sound of Henry sighing as he dies.

Harper's Globe

Harper's Globe is a social web series, designed to complement Harper's Island.[13] The series is created by EQAL (creators of lonelygirl15, KateModern, LG15: The Resistance) and CBS Interactive.[14] The show premiered its weekly episodes on March 18, 2009, and ran for a total of sixteen weeks. It stars Melanie Merkosky, who played the character Jennie in lonelygirl15.

Creator Miles Beckett says of the series, "The story of Harper's Globe is about a girl named Robin, with a very mysterious past, who's gone to Harper's Island to work for the newspaper, Harper's Globe, and to digitize articles from the newspaper and to create a community online for the Harper's Globe newspaper and the citizens of Harper's Island. And then she gets pulled into the story as it begins to unfold on the island."[15]

The character Ben, who was the first character to die in Harper's Island, was first seen in a Harper's Globe episode.[16] The series also features appearances by Harper's Island characters Sheriff Mills, Nikki Bolton, Maggie Krell and John Wakefield.

Cassidy was born in Los Angeles, the daughter of actor David Cassidy and model Sherry Williams, who first met and dated in early 1970. Sherry and David separated but remained close friends. Cassidy's paternal grandparents were actors Jack Cassidy and Evelyn Ward. She grew up in Calabasas, California with her mother and stepfather, Richard Benedon, an ER physician. She has two older sisters, Jenna and Jamie. She also has a younger half brother Beau Cassidy. As a child, Cassidy took to tumbling, competing and eventually became a cheerleader for the California Flyers, a competitive team. She cheered as a freshman for Calabasas High School where she attended high school and graduated with honors in 2005.[1] [edit]Career

While in elementary school, Cassidy became interested in show business and participated in several community theatre productions beginning at the age of 7, and as a teenager studied with an acting coach. She did some modeling which culminated in a campaign ad for Abercrombie and Fitch in 2004. Her mother would not allow her to act professionally until completing her high school education with college prep courses. In 2006, she appeared in supporting roles in films such as When a Stranger Calls and Click.[2] Click opened at #1 at the box office with $40 million.[3] She also starred as the protagonist, Kelli Presley, in Dimension Films remake of the 1974 film Black Christmas.[4] The film was released throughout late December 2006 and grossed $21 million.[5] In 2007, she appeared in supporting roles in films such as Walk the Talk, You Are Here (later renamed to Spin[6]), and Live! in which she played Jewel Jensen, an aspiring actress looking her big break in Hollywood. Also in 2007, she filmed numerous scenes in the film remake Revenge of the Nerds alongside Adam Brody and Jenna Dewan.[7] Production was halted and the movie was eventually cancelled. In 2008, she appeared as Amanda in Taken and had a recurring regular role on The CW's Supernatural as Ruby. In 2009, Cassidy appeared as Patricia 'Trish' Wellington in the CBS mini-series Harper's Island.[8] It was also in this year that Cassidy signed on as a series regular on The CW's reboot Melrose Place of the 1990s drama series of the same name.[9] She played Ella Simms, a publicist who works at Amanda Woodward's company. The media has drawn similarities from Cassidy's character and Heather Locklear's character, Amanda.[10] Her role as Ella has drawn positive critical comment from the Los Angeles Times who wrote: "Cassidy is already being singled out as the show's deliciously devious one to watch"[11] and has been cited as "the best thing about the Melrose reboot" by New York magazine.[12] The series premiered September 8, 2009 and was cancelled after one season. Cassidy also joined the cast of the 2010 remake of the horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street.[13] She played Kris Fowles, friend to lead character Nancy Holbrook (Rooney Mara) and victim of Freddy Krueger. Filming began in Chicago and was released April 30, 2010.[14] Cassidy was nominated for a Teen Choice Award in the "Horror/Thriller Actress" category for her role which she lost to Megan Fox.[15] Cassidy has been cast in the upcoming romantic comedy Monte Carlo which was filmed in in Monaco, Budapest and Paris.[16] In June 2010, Cassidy landed a recurring role as the primary antagonist Juliet Sharp in the fourth season of Gossip Girl. Her character will be a student at Columbia and a love interest for Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford). Her first appearance was in the season 4 premiere and has appeared in 11 episodes to date.[17] In March 2011, Cassidy was cast in a pilot project for ABC called Georgetown. The show is being described as Gossip Girl meets The West Wing. She'll be playing Nikki, a smart and quick-witted junior staffer in the White House Communications Office with connections to the First Lady.[18] However in May 2011, ABC decided to pass on Georgetown and it did not get picked up.[19] In June 2011, Cassidy replaced Sienna Miller and was cast as the female lead in Freaky Deaky. She will be starring alongside Brendan Fraser, Matt Dillon, and Craig Robinson. Cassidy will play ex-hippie Robin Abbott, just released from prison after blowing up a police car. After launching a new career writing historical romance novels, she hooks up with her ex-boyfriend, to be played by Fraser. The two of them hatch a plot to con an alcoholic movie mogul out of millions of dollars.[20][21] In July 2011, it was announced that Cassidy signed on to join the cast of an indie-dramedy film titled Bumped.[22] Cassidy was cast to appear in an episode of the upcoming Fox TV series New Girl. Cassidy's character is set to appear as a wedding guest who earns the affections of Schmidt (Max Greenfield), one of Jess' (Zooey Deschanel) trio of male roommates. The part is currently only scheduled for a one-off appearance. [23] [edit]Personal life

Established 1910 Branch/tradition Deobandi Ownership Tablighi Jamaat Architectural information Architect(s) Allies and Morrison Style Mosque Capacity 12,000 The Abbey Mills Mosque, also known as the London Markaz or Masjid-e-Ilyas, is a mosque located in Stratford, east London. It had been proposed to expand it to a larger Islamic centre 7.3-hectare (18-acre). It was originally reported that the structure, had it been built, would have been the largest religious building in Britain and the largest mosque in Europe.[1] For this reason it is often informally referred to in the press as the "mega-mosque".[1] The mosque extension would have been built by Tablighi Jamaat (a Muslim missionary movement) near the site of the London 2012 Olympic Park. Anjuman-e-Islahul Muslimeen is Tablighi Jamaat's charitable trust and has been the owner of the site since 1996.[2] The Tablighi Jamaat website devoted to the mosque places the maximum capacity at 12,000 worshipers.[3] The plan sparked controversy for various reasons, including its initially reported size, the possible chemical contamination risk associated with the site,[4] the uncertainty as to the sources of funding that will be used by Tablighi Jamaat,[5] and alleged links between Tablighi Jamaat and Islamic terrorism.[2] Mosque officials are engaged in resolving the controversies, as well as countering the perception implied by the term "mega-mosque".[6] Public response to the mosque and associated controversies has included on-line petitions, various public talks, debates, speeches, and websites, and even apparent threats against people opposing the mosque.[7] With the expiration of the permit to use the site,[1] and neither a current plan permission nor application for a mosque,[8] the building's future remains uncertain. In 1996 Anjuman-e-Islahul Muslimeen purchased the Abbey Mills site (the location of a former chemical works)[9] for £1.6 million.[10] In 2001, the Tablighi Jamaat was issued a five-year permit to use the site as a place of worship; however, the permit expired before building commenced.[1] As of 2007 the site plan incorporated a mosque capable of accommodating 12,000 people, a visitor and conference centre, substantial parking for cars and facilities for bicycles, a new entrance to the West Ham tube station, a residential school for 500 pupils, a reception center for visiting VIPs—including about 20 guest suites, a plan for the retention of the natural habitat on the island location within the site, and extensive landscaping.[11] The Tablighi Jamaat also stated that they plan to develop the mosque to make full use of natural resources, reducing the mosque's energy consumption and increasing the mosque's recycling.[11] [edit]Concerns

[edit]Size Reports as to the size of the mosque have varied considerably. Ali Mangera of Mangera Yvars Architects, submitted a proposal for the design competition, stated that his design would accommodate up to 40,000 visitors simultaneously, with the potential for expanding to contain 70,000 people.[12][13] These figures led to much consternation. London Borough of Newham Councillor Alan Craig, of the Christian Peoples Alliance, has criticised the development plans on the grounds that they would change the character of the local area, making it predominantly Muslim, and has called for a public inquiry into the mosque's development.[14] The Daily Telegraph reported that the Newham planning department would refuse the mosque's application, as a project of that size had the potential to cause damage to community relations in the area.[2] In apparent response to the public concern about the mosque's size, the mosque's trustees did not choose Mangera's design for the final plan, deciding instead on a scaled-down structure.[15] Mr. Abdul Sattar Shahid, speaking on behalf of the Tablighi Jamaat trustees, announced that the firm of Allies and Morrison was retained to design the mosque.[11] [edit]Environment

The new Abbey Mills pumping station, which is adjacent to the proposed site of the Mosque In July 2007 a report by Waterman Environmental was publicised by Councillor Craig, which revealed that the land upon which the Abbey Mills Mosque is supposed to be built is considered have a medium-to-high contamination risk.[4] The site was used as a chemical works for at least 100 years, and was decommissioned as such in the late 1980s.[4] Craig was alleged to have obtained this information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and he called for the Environment Agency to be brought in and for the site to be shut down until an independent report was undertaken.[4] According to Craig, the Waterman Report revealed that the original pre-remediation works had discovered soil and groundwater impact by mercury, lead, arsenic, oil, fuels, and asbestos fibres. There were methane and carbon dioxide land gas readings as well.[4] Mosque officials have stated that allowing the development to proceed would benefit the community, as decontamination of the site is part of their building plan.[16] [edit]Funding In September 2006 The Guardian reported on concerns regarding funding for the Tablighi Jamaat's construction project. Documentation filed with the Charity Commission indicated that Anjuman-E-Islahul Muslimeen's annual donations were on the order of only £500,000, suggesting the need for significant extra financial support to fund the building project.[5] Allegations were made that the project would be funded by Saudi fundamentalist groups. The allegations were based on Tablighi Jamaat's being a Deobandi Muslim organisation that has close links with the form of the religion practised by the Saudi royal family.[5] The Tablighi Jamaat website lists that it intends to raise the money predominantly via small donations from Muslims in the London area, that they have no links nor made contact with the Saudi royal family,[17] and clearly states that the Tablighi Jamaat are neither actively seeking overseas money nor public money.[10] [edit]Terrorism See also: Tablighi Jamaat The New York Times quoted Michael J. Heimbach, a deputy chief of Federal Bureau of Investigation's international terrorism section, saying that the FBI has found that the Tablighi Jamaat was used for recruiting by Al-Qaeda.[18] The group has also been referred to as "a key influence on terrorists targeting Britain" and "a common link to a string of attacks and conspiracies".[19] The Tablighi Jamaat website clearly states that it refrains from political or controversial activities and stands for democracy and freedom.[20] The group describes itself as a non-political group and categorically rejects any links to terrorism or terrorists;[21] however, its website does make clear that it cannot take responsibility for the actions of every individual who has ever attended their mosques or services.[22] Yoginder Sikand, who studied and wrote about the Tablighi Jamaat in South Asia, said that any fringe elements do not reflect the peacefulness of the movement.[19] Although the group has a very loose organizational structure, Sikand says that it would be "simply wrong to describe Tablighi Jamaat as a terrorist recruiting organisation."[19] [edit]Responses

[edit]Petition An online petition was formed in response to the concerns raised about the planned mosque, calling on the Prime Minister to prevent the building of the mosque; the petition closed with over 250,000 signatures and was at the time the most signed petition on the site.[23] Her Majesty's Government responded that the local planning authorities are responsible for general control of development in their areas and are required to take into consideration the views of interested persons and particularly local communities.[8] In regard to this specific proposal, the government was informed by the Newham London Borough Council that there is neither a current planning permission or application for a mosque, nor is one expected in the near future.[8] Ken Livingstone, the former Mayor of London, issued a statement protesting what he called "the particularly vicious nature of the campaign against a possible Muslim place of worship in East London", stating that it should be "condemned by all of those who support the long established right of freedom of religion in this country, and all the more so as it is based on information which has long been established to be factually untrue."[24] [edit]Public relations In 2007 the Tablighi Jamaat retained the public relations firm Indigo Public Affairs, which specialises in difficult major planning situations.[25] The firm's efforts to enhance the organisation's image include setting up a website for the mosque and creating YouTube videos discussing the various concerns.[25] In September 2007 a public discussion between supporters and opponents of the mosque plan was held at Ithaca House in Stratford.[26] Issues discussed included the legitimacy of the concerns about the mosque, the extent of the conservative view of Islam taught by Tablighi Jamaat, their unwillingness to engage in public discourse, the extent that racism plays a role in the mosque's opposition, and the demand for larger facilities in the West Ham area to support the needs of the community.[26] [edit]Threats In apparent response to the opposition to the mosque, Alan Craig has been the subject of a video showing his purported obituary, together with that of his wife and two children.[7] The video was posted by a 23-year-old man from Stevenage named Muhammad, better known by his online moniker of "Abdullah1425". There was a link to the video from the mosque's website, through links to pages supporting the mosque, until November 2007.[7] Nick Kilby, speaking on behalf of Tablighi Jamaat, said: "We found out about the video last night and it has been removed. We don't take responsibility for other people's sites that we don't control." He added that if Abdullah1425 was found to be a member of the organisation, it would be dealt with very seriously.[7] [edit]Other opposition In March 2008 Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, co-founder of the Muslim Parliament of Great Britain, publicly opposed the construction of the mosque, stating that "We have too many mosques. I think it should not be built. What we need first is more integration between the existing mosques and the wider community."[27] Siddiqui's opposition joins that of Craig, together with that of Irfan Al-Alawi, the director of the Center for Islamic Pluralism Europe, who expressed extreme concern about the spread of Tablighi Jamaat.[27] [edit]See also

She was the flirtatious fiancée of Cal Vandeusen. Chloe throws herself from a bridge, committing suicide, in "Splash".

On the Island

Chloe flirts with Uncle Marty. ("Whap") In "Whap", Chloe flirts with Uncle Marty when he boards the Tarapunga in Seattle. Later on the boat trip to Harper's Island, she tells Lucy Daramour and Beth Barrington the story of the 2001 murders and Sarah Mills's death, and Lucy makes a comment about Chloe having "a thing for serial killers." Later, at dinner, the bridesmaids are curious if Abby Mills and Henry Dunn have ever hooked up, and Chloe makes a comment about how she never had a boy who was just a friend. Chloe proceeds to dance with Uncle Marty, much to the dislike of Cal.

In "Crackle", Christopher "Sully" Sullivan makes advances on Chloe, who rebuffs him. Later, after Cal has gone missing, Sully leads her to Cal, who has been trapped in a snare the entire day. In "Ka-Blam", Cal and Chloe get revenge on Sully by having Chloe lure him into a trap, where Cal manages to cover him in feathers.

In "Sploosh", Chloe and Cal return from a sailing excursion after being becalmed, causing them to miss the wedding rehearsal. At The Cannery, Cal informs her that a local couple has found the engagement ring intended for her, and Chloe intervenes, breaking up the couple and retrieving the ring.

In "Snap", Chloe attempts to convince Cal not to leave to retrieve the sailboat. Before leaving, Cal leaves the engagement ring with her. In "Splash", Chloe narrowly escapes an attack by John Wakefield at The Cannery, and quickly turns from finding the murders interesting to being horrified. In Charlie Mills's Attic, when Madison Allen expresses interest in Wakefield's history, Chloe snaps at Madison, exclaiming that Wakefield is a sociopath.

Chloe discovers Patrick Lillis's body at the Church, and is kidnapped by John Wakefield shortly before Cal reunites with the wedding party. Wakefield locks her into a storm sewer, commenting that he was nearly killed by a woman like her (referencing Sarah Mills), and asks if Cal would be willing to die for her. Cal eventually manages to free Chloe asks her to marry him. As Chloe tearfully accepts, they notice Wakefield approaching.

Death

Chloe throws herself from the bridge. ("Splash") Chloe and Cal run from Wakefield, across a high bridge nearby. The two run into a fence, blocking their path, and Cal pleads with Chloe to climb around it. As Chloe struggles with her footing, Wakefield catches up with them. Chloe watches in horror as Wakefield murders Cal and throws him into the river below. As Wakefield turns to Chloe, she defiantly tells him, "you can't have me," and falls from the bridge, committing suicide.

Portrayed by: Christopher Gorham Young Henry portrayed by: Alex Ferris Added by InterestedFreak Henry James Dunn spent summers on Harper's Island when he was younger. He returns to marry Trish Wellington, whose family he used to work for. He is revealed to be John Wakefield's son, as well as his accomplice in committing a series of recent murders. Henry is killed by Abby Mills with a boarding knife in "Sigh". Henry is considered to be the main antagonist on the Harper's Island television show. Contents [show] BackgroundEdit Young Abby and Henry say goodbye after a summer together on Harper's Island. ("Sigh")Henry was born in Tacoma, Washington, to Sarah Mills. Sarah gave her son to Frank and Karen Dunn, both teachers at Tacoma North High School who vacationed on Harper's Island and met Sarah there. Henry spent summers on Harper's Island with his adoptive family, partially as a guise for visitations with his birth mother. During these childhood visits, Henry became best friends with Abby Mills. Henry loved to fish, having learned his angling skills from his adoptive father. Ten-year-old Henry's photo was featured in a Harper's Globe article (August 17, 1991) which noted that Henry had the biggest catch in his age group in the annual fishing competition. As children, Henry and Trish Wellington were close friends, and later, as a teenager, Henry began dating Trish. Henry worked during the summers at the Harper's Island marina washing and repairing boats, including the boat belonging to his future father-in-law-to-be, Thomas Wellington. Back in Tacoma during the school year, Henry was best friends with Christopher "Sully" Sullivan, who Henry would later choose as the best man for his wedding.

Young Henry attends to Cole Harkin, one of Wakefield's victims. ("Thrack, Splat, Sizzle")Henry was on the island the day of the 2001 murders, and he assisted Sheriff Charlie Mills in attending to Cole Harkin after he was burned in an explosive fire at the marina started by John Wakefield. Soon thereafter, Henry ran into Wakefield in the woods, and felt a strong connection with him. About a year later, Wakefield tracked Henry down and revealed that he was Henry's biological father.

Henry went to Harvard Business School, where he met Malcolm Ross, Joel Booth, and Danny Brooks. Sully also attended the school. When his adoptive parents died, Henry's adoptive brother J.D. Dunn was sent to live with an uncle, Marty Dunn. Henry narrowly saved J.D.'s life as he was attempting to complete a suicide pact with a friend. Henry dated Trish during college, though they broke up some time in 2005, and Trish began dating Hunter Jennings. Henry and Trish soon reconciled and dated continuously up to their planned wedding in September 2008. Henry lived in Seattle and owned the multi-media company Hometown Press. With Hometown Press, Henry set up an elaborate scheme to help Wakefield lure Robin Matthews to Harper's Island to document Wakefield's work, hiring her to work as the Community Manager of HarpersGlobe.com.

On the IslandEdit Henry returns to Harper's Island in late September 2008 for his wedding to Trish Wellington. The wedding invitation incorrectly gives Henry's middle initial as "W," leading some to speculate that this was a subtle attempt by Henry to reveal that he was Wakefield's son. In "Whap," Henry welcomes Abby to the boat transporting the wedding party to Harper's Island. Later, after the boat arrives on the island, Henry finds a distraught Abby at the Tree of Woe, reassuring her, "The killer's dead... Abby, Wakefield's dead." That night, Henry and Trish make love as Uncle Marty is killed. In "Crackle", while the wedding guests are participating in a scavenger hunt, Henry and Trish have some fun with chocolate in the kitchen of the Candlewick Inn. Henry later discovers a severed deer head in the bathtub in his cabin which he quickly cleans up before Trish can see it. That night, at the bonfire party on Harmon Beach, Henry punches Shane Pierce, assuming that Shane put the dear head in his cabin.

In "Ka-Blam," Henry loses a skeet shooting competition to Thomas Wellington. During the competition, Henry receives a note stating that Hunter Jennings is staying on the island at the Pines Motel. Henry later enters Hunter's motel room when Hunter is not there. When Hunter returns, Henry hides in the closet, arming himself with a letter opener. Henry narrowly escapes while Hunter is in the bathroom. Back at the Candlewick, Henry sends a note to Trish, signed as if it was from Hunter, asking her to meet him in room 214. A worried Henry waits inside the room as Trish approaches the door and then turns away. At the dinner that night, Henry makes a toast to Thomas Wellington, saying that some of his friends wondered if Wellington would accept the guy that used to clean his boat as his son-in-law, but "the lovely and surprising truth is... he doesn't have a choice."

In "Bang," the groomsmen take Henry fishing on the Sound where they discover Hunter's boat, on board which Malcolm finds a bag full of money. Malcolm also finds a gun, which he accidentally fires, sinking the boat, along with Hunter's dead body. After much discussion, the group agrees to keep the money. That night at the bachelor party, Henry confronts Richard Allen about his affair with Katherine. Henry recognizes the stripper that Sully has hired as the little sister of one of his old friends. Henry later shows up at the Candlewick just as Richard saves Trish from drowning under a prematurely closing pool cover.

In "Thwack", Henry discovers a disemboweled raccoon in the church and reports it to Sheriff Mills. He finds a firecracker nearby and accuses J.D. of creating the mess in the church, telling him to leave. J.D. replies that he has one more surprise in store for Henry. Later, at the wedding rehearsal, Thomas Wellington is killed by a head spade, rigged to fall from the chandelier in the church.

In "Sploosh", after J.D. and Abby find Marty Dunn's dismembered body, Henry accuses J.D. of Uncle Marty's murder. When J.D. suggests that Wakefield is alive and responsible for the recent murders, Henry visits Charlie Mills's Attic with J.D. and Abby, where they discover evidence to support J.D.'s theory. Henry and Abby later dig up Wakefield's grave, finding a skeleton in the coffin.

In "Thrack, Splat, Sizzle," Henry and Sheriff Mills find Uncle Marty's cell phone in J.D.'s room, and they suspect him of committing the murders. As J.D. is tracked by bloodhounds, Henry tells Mills about J.D.'s past suicide attempt, after which J.D. spent some time in a psychiatric facility. When the Sheriff's deputies close in on J.D., Henry runs ahead and tackles him, and J.D. is taken into police custody.

In "Gurgle," as the guests at the Candlewick prepare to leave the island, Henry convinces others in the wedding party to search for missing Madison. Henry, Abby, and Katherine search a small cove, where they find Richard's body, impaled by a harpoon to a large tree stump. After Abby receives a phone call from Madison, they immediately return to the Candlewick to find that all phone service has been interrupted. At sunset, electrical power to the island is cut. The group splits up, armed with shotguns. Henry and Danny work to start the Candlewick's generator. After finding Sheriff Mills at Harkin's cabin, Abby and Jimmy go to the marina. On the docks, Abby finds J.D. dying from a stomach wound. A crying Henry appears on the docks behind her, his hands covered in blood.

In "Seep," Henry and Jimmy carry J.D.'s body to the clinic. Jimmy finds some papers on the floor that have fallen out of J.D.'s pocket and gives them to Henry. Henry returns to the Candlewick, and, as Shane holds the group at gunpoint, Henry points his shotgun at Shane's head. Shane is subsequently disarmed. As Trish cleans some unexplained cuts on Henry's arms, Abby approaches and asks Henry for the papers that J.D. had in his pocket, which she reveals are pages from Wakefield's prison diary. From the pages that Henry gives her, Abby concludes that she could be Wakefield's daughter. Shane spreads this news to the rest of the group, prompting Henry to argue loudly with him. When Shane later denies Abby reentry to the Candlewick, Henry starts a fight with Shane. After the others break up the fight, they notice Beth is missing. As the group searches for Beth, Henry discovers a secret door to a series of underground tunnels. In the tunnels, Danny and Sully follow one blood trail, while Henry, Abby, and Jimmy take another route. Abby crawls in a small tunnel and is trapped by a falling grate. Henry and Jimmy return to find tools to free Abby, while Abby continues searching. Abby finds Madison, and the two climb a ladder to a manhole grate, meeting up with Shea and Trish who are returning to the Candlewick in Shane's truck. Trish, Abby, Shea, and Madison pull up in the truck, and everyone rushes outside to meet them. Shane stays behind and discovers Katherine dead in the solarium.

In "Snap," Henry asks Jimmy to ready his boat to transport everyone off the island. Henry and Abby go to the clinic to collect Cal, Chloe, and Sheriff Mills, but they discover that Mills is missing. Henry, Abby, and Trish go to Mills's attic to search, where they find maps of the underground tunnels, reinforcing suspicions that Mills is the murderer. As they rejoin the group at the marina, the gas dock where Jimmy and Shane are refueling Jimmy's boat explodes. Henry keeps Abby from running toward Jimmy. The group comes under sniper fire and retreats to The Cannery. Henry is slightly wounded in the leg and is patched up by Cal. When Cal and Sully volunteer to use Nikki's car to access a sailboat elsewhere on the island, Henry supervises their escape. Although they get away from the Cannery, Cal is shot in the shoulder. Later, a Sheriff's vehicle drives up to the Cannery and deposits an unconscious Jimmy in the parking lot. Henry and Shane carry Jimmy inside. Taped to Jimmy's hand is the key to Abby's room at the Candlewick, and this is interpreted as an invitation to Abby. Despite Henry's objections, Abby departs for the Candlewick alone.

In "Splash," after Charlie Mills is pulled through the window of Abby's hotel room by a rope mechanism tied to a Sheriff's vehicle, Abby runs outside to find her father hanging dead. John Wakefield walks up behind her, taking her shotgun. Henry and Danny appear, and Wakefield retreats. Henry restrains Abby from going after Wakefield, saying, "We gotta be smart." After loading Mills's body into the SUV, Henry, Abby, and Danny walk back to the Cannery. When they arrive, they find Shane and Nikki dead and the others missing. When the churchbell rings, Henry assumes that it is Trish calling for help, and the group makes their way to the church. Distracted by the arrival of Sully and Cal, the group fails to notice Chloe being kidnapped by Wakefield. Upon realizing that Chloe has been taken into the underground tunnels, Henry orders the group to split up and block all known exits to the tunnels, as he, Cal, and Abby follow Wakefield. On emerging from the tunnels into a narrow, deep ravine through which a small river flows, Cal hears Chloe yelling in the distance. Wakefield appears, and Henry and Abby follow, leaving Cal to find Chloe. After Cal frees Chloe from a storm drain, Wakefield returns and kills Cal on a bridge high over the river. Chloe then commits suicide by falling from the bridge. Henry and Abby witness Chloe's death from the riverbank.

In "Gasp," Henry and Abby start to return to the tunnel entrance to keep Wakefield from going back after the others, but they are interrupted by the sound of a gunshot. They arrive shortly after Sully shoots and injures Wakefield. Instead of killing Wakefield, Abby strikes him in the face with the butt of her gun, knocking him unconscious. After instructing Sully and Danny to tie Wakefield up, Henry tells Abby that she did the right thing and that she is not a killer. They take Wakefield to the jail, and Henry locks him in a cell. Henry then goes to look for Trish. Finding the car empty, he returns to the Sheriff's office, where Shea reveals that she and Madison found a police file on Jimmy in Mills's attic. The group's suspicions that Jimmy is helping Wakefield are enhanced when Jimmy returns saying Trish has fallen over the bluff. Henry attacks Jimmy, but is restrained by Abby. Henry then agrees to go with Jimmy, Sully, and Abby to the bluff to find Trish. When they don't find Trish immediately, Henry and Sully want to shoot Jimmy, but Abby again intervenes. Trish appears saying that she slipped and fell. Near the base of the bluffs, Trish has found a boathouse with a radio. Trish leads the group to the boathouse, and Jimmy and Sully make contact with the Coast Guard on the radio. Henry tells Trish, "You saved us."

Henry takes Trish back to the Candlewick to change into dry clothes. After showering, unaware that Wakefield has escaped from his jail cell and has killed Danny, Trish puts on her wedding dress, and she and Henry kiss and lie down on the couch together. Henry goes to investigate a knock at the door and leaves Trish alone in the cabin. While he is gone, Wakefield breaks into the cabin, and Trish escapes through a window and runs away into the woods. She finds Henry and tells him that Wakefield has escaped. Henry tells her that he knows and that he gave Wakefield the key. He also reveals that Wakefield has an accomplice, but it is not Jimmy. Trish reacts in disbelief and tries to run away, but Henry grabs her by the neck. When Trish accuses Henry of killing her father and J.D., Henry reveals that they had to die as part of the "plan." Henry stabs Trish in the side with a knife. As Trish dies, Wakefield approaches, and Henry greets him, saying, "Hey dad."

In "Sigh," Henry comments to Wakefield that Trish was harder to kill than the others. Wakefield says that she has served her purpose. When Henry asks about Danny's death, Wakefield reveals that Danny didn't embarrass himself. He also tells Henry that Shea and Madison escaped. They hear Abby calling nearby, and Henry tells Wakefield that they only have a couple of hours until the Coast Guard arrives. As Abby and Jimmy find Trish's body, Wakefield and Henry watch from a distance. When Wakefield asks Henry if he knows what he has to do, Henry replies that he must "kill Abby."

Henry returns to the boathouse, and Sully tells him that Shea and Madison have left the island in a boat. Henry tells Sully to come with him to search for Trish. While walking through the woods, Henry slowly reveals that he is the killer to a disbelieving Sully. When Sully finally realizes Henry is Wakefield's accomplice, Henry draws his knife, and Sully prepares to shoot Henry, but Henry reveals that he removed the shotgun shells. Henry comes clean to Sully regarding some of the murders he and Wakefield committed. Henry tells Sully that Wakefield is behind him, but Sully does not turn around until he hears Wakefield's voice. Caught off guard, Sully is stabbed in the back by Henry, who says, "You never should've dogged Trish." As Sully lays dying, Wakefield fires his shotgun into the air to draw Abby and Jimmy. Abby and Jimmy find Henry alone in the woods, and Henry explains that he just saw Wakefield. Abby asks where Sully and the others are, and Henry states that he hasn't seen them and that he has been looking for Trish. Abby and Jimmy tell Henry about finding Trish dead, but they discover her body is missing when they return to show him. Henry suggests that Trish may still be alive, feigning concern for her, and he pretends to search, leading Abby and Jimmy to the church. They find Trish's body in the church, and Abby tries to console Henry. Wakefield appears and fights with Jimmy, as Abby runs out of the church. Wakefield yells to Henry, "She's getting away," and Jimmy then realizes that Henry is helping Wakefield. Jimmy burns Wakefield in the stomach with a flare, starting a fire in the church. As Jimmy runs out, Henry shoots in Jimmy's direction, and Henry then runs after Abby as a helicopter is heard overhead. When he catches up to her, he tells her that Wakefield got Jimmy. When Henry asks about the location of the meeting point with the Coast Guard, Abby remembers a previous radio conversation and realizes that Henry has been lying. John Wakefield approaches, and Henry stabs Wakefield, saying, "not her." Wakefield calls out Henry's name, and Abby realizes that Henry is Wakefield's son and that he has been Wakefield's accomplice. Abby tries to run, but Henry throws her to the ground, knocking her unconscious.

Sometime later, Abby awakens in a bed in a house on the island. Abby descends a staircase and begins to explore the house. Henry appears and explains that he chose Abby over Wakefield. Abby attempts to escape, but discovers all of the doors locked. She searches for a weapon, but finds no knives in the kitchen, ultimately opting to throw a glass at Henry. Henry attempts to explain that he won't hurt her, but Abby runs to her room and locks herself inside. Henry reveals that his plan is for them to live together forever as Abby had wished as a child. Later, Henry hears the sound of breaking glass upstairs, and he goes to investigate. Abby meets him on the stairs with a broken piece of glass and questions him. Henry reveals that his wedding to Trish was the only way he could get Abby back to the Island. Abby says that everyone is dead and that Wakefield killed her dad and her mom. When she reminds Henry that her mom was his mom too, Henry says that he hated Sarah for throwing him away. When Abby also observes that Henry is her brother, he acknowledges that he can "do the math." Henry says that it doesn't matter, since no one else knows. Henry explains that he despised his parents for never telling him he was adopted. He tells Abby that he met Wakefield on the day of the 2001 murders and that he felt a connection with him. He was inspired by the man everyone else hated. He recounts the story of how Wakefield taught him to kill, claiming, "It takes practice." Henry tells Abby that he is now done killing, and he has chosen life with her. Abby breaks a window and runs away into a nearby garage, where she finds Jimmy tied up. Henry catches Abby and returns her to the house, revealing his intention to force Jimmy to sign a confession, since Shea and Madison know that Wakefield had an accomplice.

DeathEdit

Abby stabs Henry. Added by Hornean

Henry finally dies. Added by Hornean Later in "Sigh," Henry tells Abby that Jimmy has agreed to sign the confession if he can see Abby once more. Henry takes Abby to the garage to see Jimmy, where Abby enrages Henry by proclaiming her love for Jimmy. Henry strikes Abby, and she stabs Henry in the foot with an awl and runs away. Henry runs after her carrying a boarding knife, leaving Jimmy tied up in the garage. Henry corners Abby at the edge of a cliff where he discards the boarding knife to show Abby he has no intention of hurting her. Abby tells Henry that he has destroyed everything she ever loved. Henry responds, "But you have me," to which Abby replies that she doesn't want Henry. Meanwhile Jimmy has escaped and now appears, pushing Henry off the bluff and falling with him. Abby follows via a trail and finds Jimmy lying on a rocky beach. Henry walks up behind Abby, and she turns and runs Henry through the stomach with the boarding knife. As he dies, Henry tells Abby that he loves her. MurdersEdit Henry is known to have committed the following murders: Between 2002 and Sept. 2008, while Wakefield trains Henry to be a killer, Henry is known to have killed at least one person in Seattle. Frank Dunn Ben Wellington Reverend Fain Thomas Wellington Richard Allen Malcolm Ross J.D. Dunn Katherine Wellington Trish Wellington Christopher Sullivan John Wakefield CluesEdit Throughout the series, there were several hints (possibly even in-jokes) that pointed to Henry as the killer. In "Whap", after Trish pulls away from Hunter's kiss and tells him "I'm getting married", he asks her "Are you sure?".

In "Crackle", Henry tells J.D. that he wants the week to go well. We the audience do not realize he is referring to the killings and not the wedding.

In "Ka-Blam", Henry is able to stealthily hide in Hunter Jennings closet and slip away undetected.

In "Thwack", Thomas tells Trish that he does not trust Henry based on "gut instinct".

In "Gurgle", Abby finds Henry covered in blood over the dying J.D. He explains in the next episode that he was only trying to help him, however, even if the audience did not believe this, they would not be inclined to believe Henry was the killer, as killing J.D. would be justified.

In "Gasp", Abby tells Henry that he is not a killer while begging him not to shoot Jimmy.

Name: Nikki Bolton Age: Unknown (Deceased) Portrayed by: Ali Liebert Nikki Bolton was an old friend of Abby Mills. She lived on Harper's Island and managed the local dive bar, The Cannery. Nikki is fatally stabbed by John Wakefield in "Splash".

Background

The Cannery was once frequented mostly by local fishermen, but, in recent years, since Nikki inherited the bar after the death of her father, it has become a hang-out for the Island's young people.[1]

Recent Events

In "Whap," Nikki welcomes Abby to the Cannery when Abby arrives to check on the whereabouts of Henry Dunn's brother, J.D. In "Crackle", Nikki quizzes the wedding guests participating in a scavenger hunt. Later that evening, Nikki calls on Kelly Seaver at her house to accompany her to the bonfire party, and she discovers Kelly's body hanging from a beam, summoning Sheriff Charlie Mills. In "Ka-Blam," Abby meets with Nikki at the Marina to ask about Kelly. Nikki suggests that Kelly's visions about John Wakefield drove Kelly to kill herself. Nikki then mentions that Shane Pierce, Kelly's former boyfriend, had hurt Kelly in the past.

Nikki talks to Abby at the Cannery. ("Bang") In "Bang," Nikki looks at the scrapbook Abby is working on as a wedding present. In "Sploosh," when Cal Vandeusen and Chloe Carter return from a sailing excursion, Nikki Bolton tells Cal about a local couple who recently became engaged after finding a diamond ring on the beach. Cal investigates, discovering that the ring is the one he intended to give to Chloe but lost.

In "Snap", when the remaining members of the wedding party seek refuge inside the Cannery following the explosion at the Marina, Nikki appears, joining the group. Nikki and Abby set about making some coffee for everyone. A sobbing Abby tells Nikki that she never told Jimmy she loved him. When Abby reveals the suspicions about her father, Nikki states that Charlie changed following the 2001 murders. The group resolves to use Nikki's car to get the sailboat that Cal and Chloe had rented, and Christopher "Sully" Sullivan and Cal volunteer to get it. To help create a diversion, several of the group make Molotov cocktails at the bar. As Sully and Cal prepare to run for Nikki's car, Henry tosses a few Molotovs into the parking lot. Chloe kisses Cal goodbye, and Nikki reminds Sully that he will need to jiggle the ignition to start the car. Sully takes the opportunity to kiss Nikki.

In "Splash," Nikki tends to Jimmy Mance's wounds as the group continues to wait inside the Cannery. Suddenly, Madison Allen announces that Wakefield has arrived, and Wakefield bursts through the door. Nikki runs to grab a shotgun from behind the bar.

Death

Nikki bleeds to death on the floor of the Cannery. ("Splash") Before Nikki can level the gun at Wakefield, he grabs the barrel. He then stabs Nikki in the stomach with a two-foot boarding knife. Wakefield pulls her over the bar, withdraws the boarding knife, and leaves her body on the floor. Henry, Abby, and Danny Brooks later find Nikki's body in the Cannery, and they cover her with a blanket.

Portrayed by: Katie Cassidy Original Presentation Pilot Trish portrayed by: Samantha Noble Patricia "Trish" E. Wellington was the daughter of wealthy real estate mogul Thomas Wellington. Trish and her fiancé, Henry Dunn, chose Harper's Island as the location for their wedding. Trish is murdered by Henry in "Gasp".

Background

Trish grew up in the State of Washington with her parents, Thomas and Vanessa Wellington, and her sister Shea. She spent summers on Harper's Island with her family, where she met Henry. Six-year-old Trish broke her arm in an accident on the swing set at the Bassett Park playground on the Island. As children, Henry and Trish were close friends, and later, as a teenager, Trish began dating Henry. Trish worked at the Island's Maritime Museum, and Henry maintained boats at the marina, including the boat belonging to the Wellington family. Trish dated Henry for a time in college, before she temporarily broke up with him in 2005 and dated Hunter Jennings. Henry and Trish soon reconciled and dated continuously up to their planned wedding in September 2008. Trish lived in Seattle and was an assistant art appraiser at the Jocelyn Fine Art Museum.

On the Island

Trish and her sister Shea look down on the groomsmen. ("Whap") In "Whap", Trish welcomes her wedding guests, including Henry's best friend, Abby Mills, to the boat transporting the wedding party to the Island. She worries that she has not heard from her Cousin Ben, but she decides that the boat should depart for Harper's Island without him. No one on the boat is aware that Cousin Ben has been tied to the boat's propeller shaft, breathing with scuba gear. As the boat starts to move, Ben is chopped up by the boat's propeller and killed. On the boat ride to the Island, Trish receives a phone call from Hunter, which she ignores. Later, at the Candlewick Inn, Trish receives a text message from Hunter asking her to meet him, and she leaves the dinner to see him. Hunter kisses Trish, who pushes him away. He asks her if she is sure about getting married to Henry, and Trish tells him to back off. She later tells Shea everything, exclaiming that she wants nothing more than to marry Henry. That night, Henry and Trish make love. Afterward, Trish's phone rings, and Henry discovers Hunter has been calling her. Trish suggests they get separate rooms until they get married, and Henry agrees. Outside, Henry's Uncle Marty is murdered.

In "Crackle", Trish confronts Hunter at the Marina and tells him to leave her alone. She then runs to meet everyone on the terrace at the Inn for the beginning of a planned scavenger hunt for the wedding guests. Trish apologizes for her tardiness to Henry, who expresses his concern over Marty's absence. Trish leads Henry into the Inn's kitchen to play with some chocolate, while the wedding guests are participating in the scavenger hunt. Trish visits Lucy Daramour in her room, and the two discuss Hunter. Lucy tells Trish that they have dated creeps like Hunter in the past, but they both have good guys now. Lucy suggests that Trish should talk to her father about the situation. Trish visits her father's room and overhears him talking with Hunter. Trish runs away, and her father later finds her, convincing her that he told Hunter to leave. Henry discovers a severed deer head in the bathtub in his cabin which he quickly cleans up before Trish can see it.

In "Ka-Blam," Trish tries on lingerie for the wedding night at a shop in town and is surprised when Hunter enters her fitting booth. Trish informs Hunter of her conversation with her father the previous day, and she tells Hunter to leave. Later, at the Inn, Trish shows off her wedding dress to Shea and Beth Barrington. Beth discovers a phone call from Hunter and confronts Trish about it. Later, a note is slid under Trish's door, seemingly from Hunter, requesting a meeting. Trish walks to room 214, as indicated in the note. Trish begins to open the room's door, but heads back after noticing her engagement ring. A nervous Henry is inside, watching the shadows from Trish's feet.

Trish nearly drowns in the pool. ("Bang") In "Bang", Trish witnesses Richard Allen and Katherine Wellington making love in the Inn's cellar and becomes upset. She tells Henry about Katherine and Richard having an affair. Trish smirks as Katherine gives the entire bridal party sweatshirts with Henry and Trish's names printed on them. Maggie Krell interrupts and leads the women to the patio where all of Trish's late mother's china has been shattered. At the bachelorette party, Karena Fox reads Trish's fortune, telling her that she will be betrayed by a man, who will also be her savior. Later, Trish falls into the pool, and the pool cover begins to close as she is underwater, trapping her. Henry arrives just as Richard pulls Trish from the pool, saving her.

Trish spots Gigi in the woods. ("Thwack") In "Thwack", Thomas and Trish go for a bike ride together in the woods, where Trish notices Gigi running loose and follows her. One of the bike tires runs over a trip wire, releasing a large swinging log. The log hits Trish's bike, sending Trish and her father hurtling down a hill. At the bottom of the hill, Trish discovers that her cell phone is broken and their bikes are ruined. The two begin walking back to the Inn. In the woods, Thomas and Trish discuss Henry. Thomas explains he doesn't trust Henry and, upset, Trish reveals Katherine's affair with Richard. They continue walking when they notice a figure, Cole Harkin, in the distance, and they ask him for help. Harkin releases a German Shepherd, which bounds toward them. They run to a nearby abandoned truck and duck inside as the dog barks outside. After a while the dog stops barking, and Thomas decides to leave the truck to see if the dog has gone. The dog is waiting on top of the truck and pounces on Thomas as he crawls out. Thomas kills the dog with a broken bottle, and he and Trish escape unharmed. On the walk back to the Candlewick, Thomas asks Trish to keep Katherine's affair to herself until after the wedding. Later, the wedding party assembles at the Church for the wedding rehearsal. When Thomas comes to the front of the Church to rehearse lighting the unity candle, Trish witnesses the death of her father as he is impaled by a head spade falling from a booby-trapped chandelier.

A tramatized Trish is escorted out of the Church by Henry, and everyone returns to the Candlewick ("Sploosh"). Trish becomes angered at Richard and reveals his affair with Katherine to Shea. Trish begins to suspect that Richard may have killed her father, using the same weapon that John Wakefield used in his 2001 murders in order to deflect suspicion from himself.

Trish says goodbye to her father at the morgue. ("Thrack, Splat, Sizzle") In "Thrack, Splat, Sizzle," when Henry tells Trish that the Sheriff suspects his brother, J.D., of committing the murders, Trish refuses to talk to Henry and sends him away. Abby brings Trish some breakfast and attempts to comfort her. Trish tells Abby that she regrets things she did on her last day with her father, and Abby suggests that Trish talk to her dead father at the morgue, telling Trish that it helped her when her mother died. Abby goes with Trish to Dr. Campbell's clinic, and Trish goes inside the morgue to say goodbye to her father. Trish thanks Abby for helping her and mentions how things will never be the same with Henry. Later, back at the Inn, Shea finds Trish packing, and Trish says that she's calling off the wedding permanently. Abby stops by to give Trish a photograph she found of Henry and Trish as children. Abby attempts to convince Trish not to shut Henry out because of her father's death, warning her not to make the same mistakes as Abby did following her mother's murder.

Later ("Gurgle"), Trish watches the guests prepare to leave the Island and looks at the picture Abby gave her. She reconciles with Henry, wishing that he would return to the mainland with her. Shea comes outside, announcing that her daughter, Madison, is missing. The wedding party splits up to look for Madison. Maggie shows Shea and Trish the room she gave Richard the night before, which shows no signs of being used. Trish reassures Shea that both Richard and Madison will be found. Cal Vandeusen and Chloe Carter meet up with Shea and Trish searching the Inn, and Cal suggests that Madison may have gone to the basement. They arrive at the incinerator in the basement and discover a bloody hand print on the door. Cal opens the door of the incinerator and discovers a skull inside. Shea begins to cry, but Cal informs them that the skull is that of an adult. When they have no luck finding Madison, the wedding party reassembles at the Candlewick. Sully questions why they all need to stay on the Island and remain in danger to search for Madison, and Trish slaps him. When Trish, Shea, and Katherine go to the kitchen to make some tea, Sully, Chloe, Beth, and Cal sneak out to the marina to look for a boat in which to leave the Island. After Henry and Danny successfully start the generator, they return to find only Trish, Shea, and Katherine inside the Inn. Henry departs for the the marina to stop Sully, Chloe, Beth, and Cal, leaving Danny Brooks to stand guard at the Candlewick.

Trish, Shea, Danny, and Katherine wait nervously at the Candlewick, as a knock is heard at the door. ("Seep") After a number of hours, Beth and Sully return to the Candlewick ("Seep"). Shea argues with Sully about his attempt to leave while Madison is still missing. Sully tells everyone of J.D.'s death, leading Trish to question who really killed her father. Henry returns to the Candlewick just in time to disarm Shane Pierce, who has arrived and is holding everyone hostage. As Trish cleans some unexplained cuts on Henry's arms, Abby and Jimmy appear to ask Henry about some papers that fell out of J.D.'s pocket. Henry gives them to Abby, who reveals that they are missing pages from Wakefield's prison diary. As Abby reads the diary, she finds that Wakefield had a child with her mother, and she announces that she could be Wakefield's daughter. Later, when Beth is noticed missing, Sully and Danny find a blood trail in the kitchen. Trish discovers that the blood seems to be coming from behind a cart in a small room off the kitchen. When Henry moves the cart, he finds an entrance to a series of underground tunnels. Trish wants to search for Beth, but Henry insists she stay with Shea, giving her his rifle. Katherine and Trish realize that Shea has gone missing, and Katherine leads Trish to the last place Shea was seen. Trish discovers the tower card in Shea's room, and realizes that Shea has gone to see Karena. Shane and Katherine tell Trish to stay put, and she agrees.

Trish takes Shane's truck to find Shea. ("Seep") While Katherine and Shane talk in the bar, Trish steals Shane's truck to look for Shea. Trish later spots Shea and drives up alongside her, asking her to get inside. Trish convinces Shea to return with her to the Inn. As they drive along in the truck, Trish notes the sun rising and tries to console Shea. The truck drives over a manhole grate, and Madison's hand pops out of the grate. Shea looks into the side mirror, noticing Madison's hand, and tells Trish to stop. Shea and Trish run to Madison, and Shea grabs her hand. They also find Abby there, who has found Madison while searching the underground tunnels. After Trish and Shea rescue Madison and Abby, they return to the Candlewick, and the others run out to meet them. Trish asks about Beth, and Henry tells her the bad news.

Madison reveals that it was the Sheriff who kidnapped her, and Trish discusses Charlie Mills's motives with Sully and Danny, as Jimmy Mance tries to comfort Abby ("Snap"). Henry announces that he and Shane have found Katherine dead in the solarium, and he asks Jimmy to ready his boat to transport everyone off the Island. As they make their way to the marina, Henry and Trish go with Abby to her father's house to try to find him. There, in the attic, they discover maps of the underground tunnels, reinforcing Trish's suspicions that Sheriff Mills is the murderer. After rejoining the others, they continue to the marina, where they witness an explosion. When they come under sniper fire, they run for cover inside The Cannery. After initiating a plan to send Sully and Cal in Nikki's car to find a sailboat with which to escape from the Island, the Sheriff's SUV arrives with its flashers on, carrying Jimmy on the hood. The vehicle leaves, depositing Jimmy in the parking lot, and Abby runs out, discovering Jimmy is alive. After bringing Jimmy inside, they discover the key to Abby's room at the Candlewick taped to his hand. Trish interprets this as an invitation to Abby from her father. Abby walks to the Candlewick alone to meet with Sheriff Mills. Madison later approaches Trish and confides in her that she lied about Charlie kidnapping her.

Trish covers the door, allowing the others to escape. ("Splash") In "Splash," John Wakefield breaks into the Cannery and kills Nikki. Shane fights with Wakefield, as Chloe, Shea, and Madison begin climbing out a bathroom window, while Trish covers the bathroom door with a shotgun. Wakefield wounds Shane and then breaks into the bathroom, cornering Trish, but Shane appears, distracting Wakefield, allowing Trish to escape. Trish leads the group into Charlie Mills's attic, securing the stairs behind them. When they hear the churchbell ring, Trish and Chloe assume that it may be a signal for help from the others, and they head to the Church, leaving Shea and Madison in the attic. At the Church, Henry, Abby, Trish, Chloe and Danny are reunited, and Trish tries to cope with returning to the crime scene of her father's death. Trish apologizes to Abby about suspecting Charlie when Chloe screams out, discovering Deputy Patrick Lillis's body in a pew. Distracted by the arrival of Sully and Cal, the group fails to notice Chloe being kidnapped by Wakefield. After realizing that Chloe has been taken into the underground tunnels, Henry orders the group to split up and block all known exits to the tunnels. Jimmy and Trish take Nikki's car to block the tunnel exit at the manhole cover near the Candlewick. Trish falls asleep, as she and Jimmy sit in Nikki's car, with a wheel over the manhole access to the tunnels. As Jimmy reaches for her gun, Trish awakens suddenly, and Jimmy warns her against sleeping with a loaded weapon. Trish goes back to sleep as Jimmy looks around suspiciously.

Trish communicates with the Coast Guard. ("Gasp") In the morning ("Gasp"), Trish awakens in the car, discovering that both Jimmy and her shotgun are missing. Jimmy appears suddenly, announcing that he has seen a ship nearby, and goes to the trunk to grab a few flares. Trish is disturbed that Jimmy left her alone in the car, sleeping. Trish insists on staying with the car, but Jimmy convinces her to follow him to the bluffs to signal the ship. Jimmy and Trish arrive at the bluffs, but there is no ship in sight. Trish steps close to the edge, and slips and falls over the bluff. Jimmy returns to the Sheriff's office to get help, and the others begin to suspect that he is helping Wakefield. Later, when Henry, Jimmy, Abby, and Sully come to rescue her, Trish appears at the base of the bluff, announcing that she has found a boathouse with a radio. Trish leads the group to the boathouse, and Jimmy and Sully make contact with the Coast Guard on the radio. Trish gives the details on their situation to the Coast Guard, and Henry tells Trish, "You saved us," kissing her.

Trish, in her wedding dress, runs from Wakefield. ("Gasp") Henry takes Trish back to the Candlewick to change into dry clothes. After showering, unaware that Wakefield has escaped from his jail cell and has killed Danny, Trish puts on her wedding dress, and she and Henry kiss and lie down on the couch together. Henry goes to investigate a knock at the door and leaves Trish alone in the cabin. While he is gone, Wakefield breaks into the cabin, and Trish escapes through a window and runs away into the woods, chased by Wakefield. When Trish accuses Henry of killing her father and J.D., Henry reveals that they had to die as part of the "plan."

Death

Trish dies in Henry's arms. ("Gasp") After Henry discloses that he is the killer, he stabs Trish in the side with a knife, causing her to bleed to death. As Trish dies, Wakefield approaches, and Henry greets him, saying, "Hey dad." Henry comments to Wakefield that Trish was harder to kill than the others ("Sigh"). Wakefield says that she has served her purpose.
