If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Clara Isabella Harris requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Contested deletion

Copied from article - This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because... (your reason here) --96.57.192.74 (talk) 19:56, 28 September 2011 (UTC) I am acting on on the request of the author of the source material, who does not have the technical ability to make an article herself. Do the requirements still necessitate changing the wording? We can change it if necessary, but it does seem rather like busy-work...[reply]

thank you for your consideration!

You have to change it all - not just a subtle paraphrase, but a complete re-write. Lots of work. Only alternative is described at WP:DCM  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:06, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Copyright release: you do not necessarily have to rewrite the text, but we cannot accept copyright material just on the basis of assertion of permission to use. For one thing, we have no way to be sure that someone on the end of a wire is who they say they are; for another, release to Wikipedia involves more than just permission to reproduce, it means giving permission to any reader to copy, alter, and use for any purpose including commercial, and it is essential that the copyright owner understands and agrees to the license terms. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for how to go about making a copyright release, and Wikipedia:Copyrights#Contributors' rights and obligations for more information.
Please note also that Wikipedia is not simply a notice-board onto which to pin material written for other purposes: article subjects need to have notability, which is not a matter of opinion but requires showing references to significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. There is good advice about writing acceptable articles at WP:Your first article. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:13, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, JohnCD. We can gladly provide the copyright release, if that would do the trick. Would it be preferable that she re-writes an entire new article? We obviously aren't intending to use wikipedia as a mere notice board or anything of the sort and are merely trying to raise awareness about a prolific Canadian artist. While I understand the intentions of the 'notability' requirements, doesn't it seem to be a bit of a Catch-22? We are attempting to make this article in order to secure Clara's 'notability'. To me it seems unclear that Wikipedia's job is only to parrot what other media outlets have noticed as valuable. If it is helpful you can see documents here: http://web.me.com/vernamclean/www.claraharrisart.com/Documentation.html verifying her participation in exhibitions alongside artists such as Paraskeva Clark, Arthur Lismer, and Homer Watson, all of whom have been judged as notable enough to warrant their own articles. Thanks again for your time!
