Video games articles

WP:GAMECRUFT - That's the term to remember.

Xenoblade Chronicles is one of the greatest games of our time, so I'm trying to help it get that quantity and quality.

Um...okay? Not sure what you're getting at here... Sergecross73 msg me 18:02, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, you didn't? By that, I meant "help the article get bigger and better." (Man, using the 3DS to type this up is a pain in the hands.) -Player017 (talk) 01:43, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I realize that much. It just...seemed strange that you randomly came over to my talk page just to tell me that. Sergecross73 msg me 02:22, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Wii U edits

Hey there - I hope you're well! I just wanted to let you know that Eggplante.com has been doing gaming reviews and interviews, attending shows like E3, etc. for three years now, and finding out the Wii U ran on HDMI was from Eggplante.com exclusively first. No other gaming outlet had that listed. The "behind the scenes" sneak around was back in the private media area. Please take a look at http://www.eggplante.com/category/gaming/ for more gaming posts from us. We're not as big as IGN or GameSpot, sure, but we are still a news site, and while it may be a bit self-serving to put our link up there, it is still valid and of course in an un-obtrusive space. I've also changed the link so that we're not on every mention of HDMI in the post, which is fair. I'm sure you understand. Thanks, chris_kalan (talk) 01:19, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

I heavily trimmed it down and removed the {plot} tag,s ee talk for discussion. :) Salvidrim (talk) 20:58, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, that was fast! Yeah, it looks way better now. Well done! Sergecross73 msg me 00:23, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

official gaming sites = fansites?

I just wish you could check these properly before claiming that they are simply fansites.

Redefining history (talk) 14:05, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I didn't mean like a fansite for the particular person, I meant like a fansite that documents competitive video gaming or whatevers going on here. These are small, obscure websites that still don't really qualify as a reliable sources. If Gamespot or IGN or someone well known was providing coverage, then that would be a different story. But I'm not sure "mymymy.com" is comparable to such a source... Sergecross73 msg me 16:14, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Accusation of Conflict of Interest

The same thing i have said to Ridernyc I said NO. I am a 17 years old student, living in Singapore, writing wikipedia articles about dota players from china/denmark/russia/ukraine/USA who are respected by the strong dota community. How does that have anything to do with conflict of interest. If you want more info, my exams just ended and i thought i could be doing this. AND FYI : THE THREAD WHERE THIS ALL STARTED Redefining history (talk) 01:55, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

(Sorry SergeCross for butting in!)
I fail to see how that thread is even remotely relevant to the current AfDs for notability issues on all of your creations. It has been established that "pro DotA players" were not notable, I believe it might be a good idea to just accept that and move on to do something productive. No offense, I know you mean well, but as explained at length and by numerous people, these people just don't have their place in an encyclopedia. I hope it doesn't deter you from contributing positively to other Wikipedia articles in the future. :) Salvidrim (talk) 02:11, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, butt in any time on my talk page. You just said pretty much the same thing I would have said anyways! ^_^ Sergecross73 msg me 13:02, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Serge, this is being discussed at AN/I. Salvidrim (talk) 22:01, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I actually had already stumbled upon it and commented at it before you left this message. (I think I stumbled upon the discussion on somebody elses talk page...it might have been yours actually.) Sergecross73 msg me 13:27, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
... "Salavadrim". *facepalm* Salvidrim (talk) 22:22, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, no no, it's fine. I only saw it because I was aimlessly going about wikipedia pages the other day. I actually thought it was strange no one told me about it before I found it, since I had been around for so much of it. But yeah, thanks for the heads up anyways. What's your idea

congratz on earning a barnstar.
ok, let's get to our point. I wanted to add a new section to Grace for Drowning about the music videos of albums. right now 3 videos released from the album and each one of them has their own meaning. i thought it's good to add a section for them and write about each video and their meanings. so funny that steven start walking and following these Mind Control things.
so what do you think? (Reza (Let'sTalk) 21:56, 2 November 2011 (UTC))[reply]

The visual aspect to his music does seem to be something important to SW's overall "experience" with his music, so it may be worthwile to include to some degree. Right now, there's nothing in the article about it at all, right? At the bare minimum, we could name the videos and briefly describe what going on in them. However, we wouldn't want to go into the video's "meanings" unless we've got some reliable sources from SW or someone describing it. If we just put our interpretations in there, it'd be original research. Sergecross73 msg me 12:43, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikia

Do you go to the Wikia?~Tailsman67 of the Wikia~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.163.17.131 (talk) 04:58, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, I don't. There's too much fan speculation and unverified information. Sergecross73 msg me 14:05, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wow your up tight. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.163.17.131 (talk) 21:28, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see no need for personal attacks! I am active on at least one Wikia (where I am admin and maintain, etc.), and SergeCross is correct that facts are unsourced. (In reference to gaming Wikias), most are made by and for gamers, more to help, aid and otherwise guide them than to provide neutral, verifiable information. I am not saying Wikias are "less" than Wikipedia is -- it's just a different system, with different goals. --Salvidrim! (tc) 21:36, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wikia is Wikipedia little brother. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.163.17.131 (talk) 21:47, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not disagreeing. Also, please use "~~~~" (four tildes) to sign your posts on talk pages. --Salvidrim! (tc) 21:51, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Salvidrim, I have been dealing with this user for a while now. "Tailsman67", or he uses the above IP or User talk:98.71.62.59. He has no interest in following policies/suggestions or having a rational discussion it seems, so I tend to just do my best to clean up/revert the mess he leaves behind. I imagine eventually he'll tire himself out and stop, or do enough wrong to get blocked. Heck, if you look at his talk page and contributions from the "98..." IP address, you'd see he's probably done enough to be blocked as it is, if I bothered to report him... Sergecross73 msg me 14:20, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You remind me a lot of Smash the Encidna, anyway it isn't my fault my Ip changes now and then. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.163.17.131 (talk) 14:54, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know who that is, and no one is blaming your for your changes in your IP. I was just showing Salvidrim that you other IP has a lot more warnings. (so far..) Sergecross73 msg me 15:00, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well look him up and I won't tire. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.163.17.131 (talk) 17:38, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Look who up? "Won't tire" of what? I don't even know what you're talking about anymore. If you don't have anything coherent or important to say, please stop. Sergecross73 msg me 16:45, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I know who you are, Tailsman. Your type of editing is painfully obvious to identify, regardless of the IP you're using at a given time. (Usually sloppy, riddled with typos, not on topic, complaining that you can't do something that goes against wikipedia policy, etc.) Sergecross73 msg me 16:57, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How You Remind Me

You were right to remove the info, but I will note the UK Rock chart is based entirely on singles sales - songs can and often do stay on for years, and often reach No. 1 years after release, given the slump rock music is in. "Livin on a Prayer" and "Bring Me to Life" are two singles that have done this. Just wanted to inform you of that. :) Toa Nidhiki05 20:47, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the thought of the reminder, though I did realize that. I just meant that I knew that particular, decade old song wasn't currently on the charts. But it could hypothetically happen, yes. Perhaps it wasn't the best edit summary of mine, but I've grown impatient with the user I reverted (Joseph201), as he is constantly causing trouble with his editing... Sergecross73 msg me 20:58, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see... I don't like editors like that. The song actually is charting at the moment, at No. 11. Nowhere near number-one, but... :P
BTW, just reverted the guy for you. Toa Nidhiki05 21:02, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the revert. I saw you left him a comment on his talk page too, at the same time I did. Thanks for that too. Sergecross73 msg me 21:14, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No prob. :) Toa Nidhiki05 21:51, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Attempted Clarification

You know a big Admin will never pay attention to a little Ip and I relies why you guy want me to get a user acocunt,so you guys can block me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.163.17.131 (talk) 16:57, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You realize IP's can be blocked too, right? You don't need an account to be blocked... Sergecross73 msg me 17:09, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I know,but if I get a account I'm blocked forever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.163.17.131 (talk) 17:12, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
They would do the same to your IPs. It's treated the same, you're not "beating the system" because you refuse to make an account... Sergecross73 msg me 17:14, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I am,if I restart my firefox seven times I get a new Ip,happened before. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.163.17.131 (talk) 17:31, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see what the big problem is with getting an account. You'll be blocked only if you act in a way that deserves a block, whether you use IPs or an account. If you don't want to be blocked, just follow policies, and nobody's gonna come after you! Unless you intend to keep using IPs because you intend to continue being disruptive, in which case I can only condemn that behaviour and suggest you find better outlets. I'm hoping the 3-day block makes you... "lose your motivation", so to speak. --Salvidrim! T·C 03:32, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That was actually quite similar to what I was going to say. Thank you, Salvidrim. Sergecross73 msg me 03:46, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
HA!That's funny.
