Hey man, I saw you took off the post I put up about the SP release date and the songs left to be completed by Nicole Fiorentino. I was having trouble citing it, and you can view her post (this is her official fb page) here: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=245581175485987&id=100001023206131

Regarding Wii U edits

Hey there - I hope you're well! I just wanted to let you know that Eggplante.com has been doing gaming reviews and interviews, attending shows like E3, etc. for three years now, and finding out the Wii U ran on HDMI was from Eggplante.com exclusively first. No other gaming outlet had that listed. The "behind the scenes" sneak around was back in the private media area. Please take a look at http://www.eggplante.com/category/gaming/ for more gaming posts from us. We're not as big as IGN or GameSpot, sure, but we are still a news site, and while it may be a bit self-serving to put our link up there, it is still valid and of course in an un-obtrusive space. I've also changed the link so that we're not on every mention of HDMI in the post, which is fair. I'm sure you understand. Thanks, chris_kalan (talk) 01:19, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

official gaming sites = fansites?

I just wish you could check these properly before claiming that they are simply fansites.

Redefining history (talk) 14:05, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I didn't mean like a fansite for the particular person, I meant like a fansite that documents competitive video gaming or whatevers going on here. These are small, obscure websites that still don't really qualify as a reliable sources. If Gamespot or IGN or someone well known was providing coverage, then that would be a different story. But I'm not sure "mymymy.com" is comparable to such a source... Sergecross73 msg me 16:14, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

RE: Accusation of Conflict of Interest

The same thing i have said to Ridernyc I said NO. I am a 17 years old student, living in Singapore, writing wikipedia articles about dota players from china/denmark/russia/ukraine/USA who are respected by the strong dota community. How does that have anything to do with conflict of interest. If you want more info, my exams just ended and i thought i could be doing this. AND FYI : THE THREAD WHERE THIS ALL STARTED Redefining history (talk) 01:55, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

(Sorry SergeCross for butting in!)
I fail to see how that thread is even remotely relevant to the current AfDs for notability issues on all of your creations. It has been established that "pro DotA players" were not notable, I believe it might be a good idea to just accept that and move on to do something productive. No offense, I know you mean well, but as explained at length and by numerous people, these people just don't have their place in an encyclopedia. I hope it doesn't deter you from contributing positively to other Wikipedia articles in the future. :) Salvidrim (talk) 02:11, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

What's your idea

congratz on earning a barnstar.
ok, let's get to our point. I wanted to add a new section to Grace for Drowning about the music videos of albums. right now 3 videos released from the album and each one of them has their own meaning. i thought it's good to add a section for them and write about each video and their meanings. so funny that steven start walking and following these Mind Control things.
so what do you think? (Reza (Let'sTalk) 21:56, 2 November 2011 (UTC))

The visual aspect to his music does seem to be something important to SW's overall "experience" with his music, so it may be worthwile to include to some degree. Right now, there's nothing in the article about it at all, right? At the bare minimum, we could name the videos and briefly describe what going on in them. However, we wouldn't want to go into the video's "meanings" unless we've got some reliable sources from SW or someone describing it. If we just put our interpretations in there, it'd be original research. Sergecross73 msg me 12:43, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

How You Remind Me

You were right to remove the info, but I will note the UK Rock chart is based entirely on singles sales - songs can and often do stay on for years, and often reach No. 1 years after release, given the slump rock music is in. "Livin on a Prayer" and "Bring Me to Life" are two singles that have done this. Just wanted to inform you of that. :) Toa Nidhiki05 20:47, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

I appreciate the thought of the reminder, though I did realize that. I just meant that I knew that particular, decade old song wasn't currently on the charts. But it could hypothetically happen, yes. Perhaps it wasn't the best edit summary of mine, but I've grown impatient with the user I reverted (Joseph201), as he is constantly causing trouble with his editing... Sergecross73 msg me 20:58, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

I see no need for personal attacks! I am active on at least one Wikia (where I am admin and maintain, etc.), and SergeCross is correct that facts are unsourced. (In reference to gaming Wikias), most are made by and for gamers, more to help, aid and otherwise guide them than to provide neutral, verifiable information. Salvidrim, I have been dealing with this user for a while now. "Tailsman67", or he uses the above IP or User talk:98.71.62.59. He has no interest in following policies/suggestions or having a rational discussion it seems, so I tend to just do my best to clean up/revert the mess he leaves behind. I imagine eventually he'll tire himself out and stop, or do enough wrong to get blocked. Heck, if you look at his talk page and contributions from the "98..." I don't see what the big problem is with getting an account. You'll be blocked only if you act in a way that deserves a block, whether you use IPs or an account. If you don't want to be blocked, just follow policies, and nobody's gonna come after you! Unless you intend to keep using IPs because you intend to continue being disruptive, in which case I can only condemn that behaviour and suggest you find better outlets. I'm hoping the 3-day block makes you... "lose your motivation", so to speak. --Salvidrim! T·C 03:32, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

November 2011

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Mario Kart 7. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. With this edit, you reverted a good faith valid edit without providing any reason. Salvidrim! 13:49, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, sometimes I get tired of repeating the same "Provide a source for this claim" But you are correct, the info was right to be removed, but an edit summary could have been used as well.
A pointer for you: Some experienced editors get irritated when you give "canned responses" (templates) like that to them. (Looking at my contributions, for example, it's pretty easy to gather that I'm well aware of how edit summaries work.) I don't mind much, but others may give you some heat for it... Sergecross73 msg me 13:54, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
*shrugs* Warning templates are the lazy man's warnings, and I'm certainly lazy! However, that edit in particular wasn't clearly revertable IMO, I was actually thinking whether to remove it or slap a {cn} on it -- the fact(s) was perhaps notable. But I'm just saying that, I haven't done any research into it, so you may very well be right and I may very well be stupid. ;) Salvidrim! 13:58, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
And as far as repetitive summaries are concerned, one of the automatic summaries in the dropdown is about "Removing unsourced content", that's what I commonly use. :) Salvidrim! 13:59, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
I didn't think a CN tag was worth it because they said it came from something called "Beano", which as far as I know, either not a reliable source anyways, or at least not an authority on video games. Futhermore, if we kept every entry like that, the development section would devolve into a laundry list of "...and then Nintendo power said there was a Mario course", On this date, Eurogamer said there's a Peach course. Also Gamespot said there's a Donkey Kong level" etc etc etc... Sergecross73 msg me 14:07, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

I certainly would like to in theory, but I don't think he's quite done enough for an admin to take action yet. Technically, I don't think he's broken WP:3RR, and while he is being stubborn and unhelpful...I don't think he's gone over that edge yet. 2 things I think would be really good to do in the mean time though would be
  1. Keep writing reminders of policies/guidelines he's breaking on his talk page, if he continues to break them.
  2. Please join the discussion on the discussion page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Skyward_Sword#Reception_section_-_.22Universal_acclaim.22 I know you have an opinion on this, so it'd be great if you chimed in too. The more people who argue against him there, the less likely his edits are going to stick in the long run. Sergecross73 msg me 01:50, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

I thank you for addressing this. It looks like majority of the changes are justified now. One thing not resolved though: that source you presented, as far as I can tell, does not say anything at all about "Americana", or any other of those genres that you added. Hey, I just wanted to say that, to me, this may not be your intention, but you are coming off as rude to me. You do not have to act like I am a retard and that I do not know what I am doing when you say "Try reading the subsection titled ABBA". Again, that might not be your intention, but that is how it is appearing to me. You can talk nicely to me. I do not want to start an argument with you, I would actually like to come to some sort of agreement with you or become friends, but I do not appreciate your attitude (how it is appearing to me) towards me and I am not going to put up with it. Despite what you and other Wikipedians think, I do know what I am doing. --BLAguyMONKEY! (talk) 13:12, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Dear BLAguyMONKEY. First, official data isn't preferred on Wikipedia, but third-party independent sources are. Second, a consensus (read this and this) was reached to remove the ABBA's hyper-inflated 370 million figure. @ Sergecross73 - Thanks for the revert as I was about to cross 3RR unintentionally. Scieberking (talk) 13:38, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
@Blaguy - I think you're reading into things some. You said you looked over the talk page and couldn't find anything about ABBA. I said look at the ABBA subsection. It's not my fault you didn't look very hard. Sorry for pointing you in the right direction?
@Scieberking - No problem, been in similar situations many times myself, so I try to do the same for others, especially when they have things like consensus on their side. Sergecross73 msg me 13:48, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

First of all, I never said it was "your fault" that I "didn't look very hard", what I said was "You do not have to act like I am a retard and that I do not know what I am doing when you say "Try reading the subsection titled ABBA". Again, that might not be your intention, but that is how it is appearing to me." If you are going to criticize me and make me look like the asshole, at least get my words right. And with you saying "Sorry for pointing you in the right direction?", you are being a smart-ass and, again, you are trying to make me look like the one with the problem. With your comments, you are only proving my point that you are being rude. I tried to talk to you about it in an appropriate way and you are still being rude to me. --BLAguyMONKEY! DC in Japan

Hi there. Just look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dreamcast&oldid=164047283

It is a old revision of the Dreamcast article from 2007. As you can see from the start, it clearly says there that it was finished in Japan in 2007. That's an extra proof.--Gaming&Computing (talk) 23:22, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

An old revision stating a piece of unsourced info is proof of absolutely nothing, except that some editor wrote this. Do you have a source to back the claim that the DC was discontinued in 2007 in Japan? Salvidrim! 00:33, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Yes, it's as Salvidrim said, an old wikipedia page isn't a reliable source or "proof". This should probably be discussed here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Dreamcast#Discontinued_date - the discussion I started at the Dreamcast article. The confusion has to do with what we're talking about. All of the sources your provided in your edits referred to discontinuing software, or repairs. The infobox refers when the hardware was discontinued. None of your sources referred to hardware. (The system itself.) Sergecross73 msg me 04:29, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. But I need to tell you something: One, I am deeply offended about what you said about other wikis. Other wikis are just as reliable! You act as if Wikipedia is God, and the others are barbaric savages! Super Mario Wiki (www.mariowiki.com) checks sources just like Wikipedia! They even based their policies off of Wikipedia's! Two, people can't edit E3 2011's video and post it under that name. Please reply. 76.120.127.225 (talk) 21:10, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry to have offended you, but it's not just my personal standpoint that deems them as unreliable, but rather Wikipedia's official policy towards "user generated" content that deems them as "not reliable". Again, the problem is that there's no one checking over the information. Super Mario wiki has no editorial staff fact checking their information. Websites like IGN, do. And that's why IGN is considered reliable in the wikipedia sense. I could, in theory, go over to Super Mario wiki, make a claim that Mario is 200 years old, and then use it as a source here, when in fact, that would be very wrong. You can't do that to IGN articles. There's no sense of wikipedia superiority there; wikipedia articles can't be used as reliable sources either.
As for your other point, youtube is to be avoided because of WP:COPYVIO problems, where Youtube doesn't really have the rights to such videos, and thus shouldn't be used to sources. In cases like this, where it is in fact most likely real, it shouldn't be that hard to just find it's original source, or a reliable source, and use that instead. (Salvidrim found one very easily himself I believe.) Sergecross73 msg me 21:50, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

What else can't I do such as the list of characters I put on there, as I don't want to do something baad without knowing. Please reply on my talk page. Thanks Matthew Talk 13:42, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Most of the points in WP:GAMECRUFT are probably the biggest things to stay away from. Browse over that...and feel free to ask if you have any further questions on it. Sergecross73 msg me 13:49, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Help.

Do you know how to make a poll? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.71.62.146 (talk) 18:34, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

No, I don't. Is this in reference to something in particular? Sergecross73 msg me 19:04, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
Editor confirmed in this diff that he was Tailsman67. Salvidrim! 19:56, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
I hadn't seen that edit in particular, but I was pretty sure it was him beforehand, due to his editing. (Notaforum violations, adding speculation to Sonic articles, writing style, etc.) Sergecross73 msg me 20:01, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
I'm not tailsman dude,we are friends but no. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.71.62.146 (talk) 20:07, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
Tailsman67 writing style is just to fool you guys. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.71.62.146 (talk) 20:08, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
Wow, it's amazing, there are so many people that act and post exactly like him, but aren't him! >_> Sergecross73 msg me 20:12, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
So what, sloppy writers want to be sloppy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.71.62.146 (talk) 20:14, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Alright, unless you start saying something of substance, this conversation is over. Sergecross73 msg me 20:16, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Everybody does forms on talk pages, you didn't let me finish the writing, and I'm not my cousin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.71.62.146 (talk) 20:17, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
No, they don't. If you think they do, you probably don't understand the policy then. Sergecross73 msg me 20:23, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

I have just left a very stern warning on the IP's talk page, raising the stakes a bit to let them know just how perilous their situation is. --McDoobAU93 20:30, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Very much so appreciated. Sergecross73 msg me 20:32, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
You're welcome. I've added your talk page to my watchlist so I'll help keep an eye on things as a friendly talk-page stalker. --McDoobAU93 20:33, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. Salvidrim do the same thing to each other's talk pages as well. Sergecross73 msg me 20:41, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
Another one? ;) Salvidrim! 20:42, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Time to let this IP burn itself out ... he's not being sincere in his "apologies" that he spread all over our various talk pages, and admittedly all we're doing is feeding him. He's on Level 4 warning, so if he does something else he'll get reported to AIV; let's let that be that. --McDoobAU93 01:57, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

I agree, sounds good. Sergecross73 msg me 02:01, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
I partially take that back ... take a look at this. Appears to be outing a sleeper account to me. Salvidrim already ID'ed it, but for this supposedly new IP to go directly to it ... I'm wondering if we have enough to go to SPI again. --McDoobAU93 02:04, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
There's also this, where he links to some 4 year old account that complains they they left due to wikpedia's rigid policies, which is exactly what he was randomly linking to here in his last IP, for what it's worth. Sergecross73 msg me 02:12, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Well he's got enough rope, so to speak ... --McDoobAU93 02:24, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Using multiple IPs, accounts, etc., especially when they do not edit concurrently, is not technically against the rules. But the moment one of them is banned, I have no doubt he'll go to the others, and THEN they can be banned, one by one, as he burns through his IPs, for ban evasion, through SPI. Salvidrim! 09:09, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Actually it is. See this template, which I have just posted on the most recent IP (the one from yesterday). --McDoobAU93 18:50, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
