"Reason for requesting confirmed rights"

Dear Admins I would like to be given the permission the "semi-permission" to edit the "Abdul Rashid Dostum" page. I am editing the page as apart of an assignment for my College in my IT coarse. Im also a History student and have a great understanding of the page and believe I can contribute more valuable knowledge to the page.

Thanks Bullmoosetr (talk) 01:00, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi, and thank you for creating an account to edit Wikipedia. Although I fully understand your desire to dive right in, many of our articles are semi-protected because they are controversial, prone to vandalism, or other reasons. As a new editor with few edits, it might be wise to discuss your edits on the article talkpage in order to gain consensus for your edits. I only recommend this until you're used to the challenges of reliable sources, the biographies of living persons policy, and other similar things. The good news is that fewer than 5% of Wikipedia articles are protected; this means that 95% of the articles can use your help right now! (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 10:49, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

User:UWECMatSci100

I am requesting confirmed rights for the permission to upload images to the page Hycrete as part of a project assigned to me in a Materials Science class. The images are copyrighted but we have emailed the company for their permission to use them and have received confirmation. UWECMatSci100 (talk) 02:02, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Unless the company agrees to freely license their photos, they are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia per Wikipedia non-free content criteria #1. -FASTILY (TALK) 06:16, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

User:Petergolding

Hi, I am surprised not to be autoconfirmed already. I wish to be able to upload a non-free image to sit alongside text to help explain a musical venture to readers. Many thanks. Petergolding (talk) 08:24, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment)  Question: Would you describe the copyright of the image/s you wish to upload? Hamham31Heke! 09:11, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for requesting confirmed rights: I've translated the Lechler page from the italian version of wikipedia to the english one. I'd replace the same images uploaded on the italian version in en.wikipedia, but I'm a new user, so I can't; could you give me permission? Many thanks Da.francesca (talk) 15:42, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I work for Sonoma State University Preserves and was asked to edit the Galbreath Wildlands Preserve page. I would like permission to upload the pictures they want me to put on the page. Yostkr (talk) 19:11, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Question: Please describe the Copyright status of the files you wish to upload. -FASTILY (TALK) 19:14, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
They are copyrighted non-free images with all rights belonging to Sonoma State University Preserves.
Sorry, one more question - What are these photographs depicting? -FASTILY (TALK) 21:43, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Land, facilities and animals that are on the preserve.

User:Chesteria 785

I am requesting permission to upload fair use images (video game screenshots). Thank you! Chesteria 785 (talk) 19:21, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Question: Please list the games you would like to upload images for and why the articles for those games need those images. -FASTILY (TALK) 19:32, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Answer: No problem, I would like to add a screenshot of the mobile version of Phase 10 to the Phase 10 entry. Chesteria 785
Why does the article need the image? There is no mention of a video game version of Phase 10. Adding this image would be an outright violation of Wikipedia non-free content criterion #8. -FASTILY (TALK) 20:06, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize, I should have been a little more thorough with my answer. I would be expanding the article to include mention of the mobile versions of the title and using the images to support this entry. I was also hoping to do the same thing with the Rubik's Cube article as it makes no mention of the mobile versions of the game.
Please expand the articles first, then upload the files (At any rate, you'll be autoconfirmed by then - i.e. the system will grant you the ability to upload files) -FASTILY (TALK) 20:24, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good, thanks a lot!

I'd like to upload a non-free file. I'm writing my first Wikipedia article on Hervey White and want to illustrate it with a copyrighted image that I have been granted permission to use. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pastrychick (talkcontribs)
  •  Not done Articles that are draft/in articles for creation do not yet need to have images attached to them. If you have formal permission, that should be sent to WP:OTRS. By the time you have got the article ready for the encyclopedia, OTRS should have dealt with the copyright, and you will likely be autoconfirmed by then. Good luck! I would like to upload a photo for a page. I have used Wikipedia before, and I am experienced, but I can't wait 4 days. Could you please make me a confirmed user. Phoenixlogan123 (talk) 21:12, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for requesting confirmed rights Carl Frederick, author (talk) 10:35, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

By way of relevant background, I am Carl Frederick, the author and copyright owner of the book titled: "EST: Playing The Game* The New Way *The Game Of Life".

The information on me and the book, (previously submitted to Wikipedia) was done by a third party, without my knowledge or consent.

I am requesting that the information currently on the site under my name be removed, and that this version be substituted in its place. I would also like to remove the hardcover edition cover image shown on Wikipedia, and insert the book cover from my current Amazon/Create Space publication.

Finally, I would like to change the heading for my piece, from "EST Carl Frederick" to read "Carl Frederick, EST Author"

Please advise what additional steps (if any) are required before this action can go into effect, and thank you for taking your valuable time to read the submission.

Sincerely,

Carl Frederick — Preceding unsigned comment added by Carl Frederick, author (talkcontribs)

  •  Not done Of course the article about you was written by someone else - on Wikipedia we're not permitted to write about ourselves. Not only do we have a very different perspective on our notability, but we have massive conflict of interest. Although you may be able to edit for errors, add proper 3rd party sourcing (not your own website), and remove edits that contradict our biographies of living persons policy, you should not be the primary editor on articles related to you. Be careful not to remove validly-sourced material. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:00, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Not done If you make the note of what needs to be changed on the article talkpage, I'm certain that WP:CONSENSUS will have it included. Don't worry - you'll be able to edit the 5% of Wikipedia that is semi-protected in no time! (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:43, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
