Toilers?!

That's the conventional translation of the name of the Коммунистический университет трудящихся Востока since... well, probably since the days when it was still in operation. I'll agree that it's not the optimal translation of "трудящихся", but it *is* the conventional one in this case, and has been used in Soviet translations of the name into English since at least the 1926 publication of Stalin's May 18, 1925 speech to the students. The English name of the Chinese university spun off from it uses parallel terminology.
