Perhaps...
...you could tone it down some? Whether or not your point of view is more correct than the opposing point of view on the matter of The Shrike, edit summaries that include calling a tag moronic and suggesting a fellow editor engage brain are, at best, not exactly collegial. As you've pointed out yourself, you've certainly been around here long enough to know this. Frank | talk 20:47, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
- Frank, the editor tagged a page for speedy deletion while he knew I was working on it, using an invalid speedy criteria. He didn't come here and have a friendly word with me first. Of course I am annoyed at him. Maybe you could start over and stop lecturing me about collegiality, and start by talking to the disruptive editor who is harassing me. I do not like the self-appointed civility police; don't be one. Jehochman Talk 00:31, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- Frank, you are welcome to post, but I will remove any further comments you make that are pedantic or condescending. I'd also like to suggest that you at least recognize my concerns, instead of just coming here and acting as if you are Richard75's lawyer. Being neutral requires acting neutral. Jehochman Talk 15:45, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- Reacting to your personal comments against another editor does not suggest that whatever the editor did to elicit that reaction from you in the first place was correct. The user in question could scarcely fail to get your point; I don't see that your concerns need either reinforcing or recognition from me. Nevertheless, I can explicitly and unreservedly say that I agree with you that the speedy tag was incorrect. As I see it, we differ in what an appropriate response to that is. Frank | talk 16:28, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- Let me help you. When you see an editor who is obviously upset by something, the first thing to do is tell them that you see they are upset and ask if there is anything you can do to help. That will immediately help them calm down and defuse the situation. It is much better than coming in and telling them that they are being uncivil; I knew that, I was uncivil on purpose because I was very angry at Richard75. Jehochman Talk 17:18, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- I didn't glean that there was a situation to defuse, but the question you suggest is a good one: is there some assistance I could render that might help the situation? Frank | talk 17:47, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- See section below. Things seem to be smoothing out already. Do you know how to write an article about a fictional character? I am looking for guidance on how to satisfy notability and verifiability concerns? How much of the article can be sourced to the work itself, and how much needs to be verified by independent sources? Jehochman Talk 18:51, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I have much more experience with BLPs than BFPs, but I can see if I can find anything about it. Frank | talk 13:15, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Sincere apologies
I really do apologise for having trampled all over your talk :o( My baaad! If I weren't editing under the influence, things would probably have been a bit better, but it's eithr EUI or not editing at all, now. I'm wary of editing articles in case I make an unholy mess in article space (cringe), but I may do something quietly gnomish and relatively risk-free over the next week or so. Once again, I'm really sorry. Pesky (talk) 09:13, 9 March 2012 (UTC) |
- Thank you. I love strawberries. Jehochman Talk 02:41, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
- I think if we can each remember that the other one always means well, then we will get on OK! You seem to be one of the Good Guys, to me :o) Pesky (talk) 11:36, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
- You must have confused me with somebody else. My nature is pure mischief. Jehochman Talk 14:44, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
- [TPS darwinbish high-fives her spiritual brother. ] Well, "mischief" doesn't quite come up to evil, of course. But definitely a step in the right direction. P. S., Bishonen is sorry she said you sometimes don't have all your oars in the water. She now wishes she had said you're sometimes a few sausages short of the full English breakfast. little ankle biter 16:58, 10 March 2012 (UTC).

I was once in a small Austrian village leading a tour group consisting of Russians. (Don't ask how I got into that situation.) We went by horse-drawn sledge to a little restaurant in the mountains and had cheese fondue. The Russians ordered and ate all the caviar available in the village, finished the fondue, and said (drunkenly) "Djonatan, enough appetizers, whats for dinner?" I quickly found the chef and warned them that he needed to find food to prevent a riot. The chef threw his hands up and said, "The fondue was dinner. We have nothing else." I said, "What? Don't you have any sausages?" He did. So I said, "Boil them, and put them on the table with lots of mustard and more vodka." Problem solved. Jehochman Talk 01:40, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- And what a good solution! I always reckon sausages come with-magic-attached, in any case. Even when you know what's in them, you still want to eat them ... Pesky (talk) 07:28, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

- It seems to be resolved already. Thank you for taking on this problem and doing what was necessary to protect our articles. Jehochman Talk 00:20, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for the recognition. Please take the time to sit down and join me for a nice cup of tea and a biscuit. RolandR (talk) 01:05, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for March 13
Hi. When you recently edited The Shrike, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Endymion (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Brainstorming improvement team seeking colleagues ...
... over here. You're one of the people I'd have hand-picked to work on this, if it had been up to me to do so. You have a good heart, a good brain, and clear language. How about it? Pesky (talk) 10:33, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Will you look into:
Hello, could I ask you to look into the article Western Betrayal and review the talk page? There is one editor who has effectively taken ownership of this article. He shows up within minutes of any edit and almost always reverts. He single-handedly takes on any suggested changes or additions and rejects them, citing the fact that he himself has already discussed the proposal and made a decision. The same 2 or 3 far less frequent editors show up and add support when more than 1-2 outside editors start challenging the article's owner. If you can just watch it for awhile, especially when a new editor in good faith shows up ..and see how quickly they are attacked, intimidated and effectively denied editing privileges. Many thanks for your work. 184.36.232.214 (talk) 02:30, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
- Looks like a case for WP:AE. Jehochman Talk 08:44, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response! The article's owner in this case is an old pro at wiki-lawyering after dozens of appearances in Wikicourt under his current and an infamous previous username. I am no one and only edit Wikipedia once or twice a year; there really is no point in trying to challenge entrenched untouchables with a bevy of disciples of all wiki ranks on call to defend their sacred cow articles. I tought I'd try you because you uniquely seem to have a big life outside of Wikipedia but also have some standing here. I guess it doesn't matter, the truth will prevail eventually. Best wishes.
