Pete Webering Page Deletion

The Pete Webering article that was deleted was not intended to be offensive in nature. It is his (Pete Weber) trademark celebration dance and we are looking to start a new "phenomenon" similar to Tebowing, Linsanity or Planking. Please let me know what we need to do to get this page approved.

Thank you Pawajgel (talk) 20:20, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Paul Wajgel[reply]

Wikipedia is not the place to try to "start a new phenomenon". For the reasons why, see Wikipedia is not for things made up one day. JohnCD (talk) 20:23, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Earthrace Page

I am wondering why you deleted the page "Earthrace Conservation Organization" in September 2011. I understand it may be copyright violation, but may I recreate it with permission of the founder? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blb9556 (talkcontribs) 02:20, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It was indeed deleted as a copyright violation but, while you could arrange a copyright release, that text would in any case not be suitable for an encyclopedia article, being in written in promotional terms and from rather than about the organization: "We are calling for... we hope to bring about lasting change... We also support... " etc, and lacking any independent references to show notability. Read User:JohnCD/Not a noticeboard. More advice on your talk page soon, but it may be a few days. Truveris page

Hi JohnCD,

I was hoping you would re-review the Truveris page which is in the Sandbox. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jurhyu/Truveris#External_links Since notability was a concern, I have added some other articles which may help to show Truveris does have notability in the press. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.74.152.202 (talk) 19:30, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As you restored it after it was contested, I thought I'd let you know nothing has happened to it to improve it - still unreferenced and to my mind non-notable. Peridon (talk) 16:55, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know: I restored it because of this request at REFUND, but I see there has been no improvement, and I have absolutely no problem with it being taken to AfD. JohnCD (talk) 22:06, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cliché Hot Page

Hi John, I was hoping you wouldn't mind undeleting Cliché Hot I belive the consensus for deleting was a lack of contributions to the page, I'm willing to take the challenge of filling it up. The album in question had an impact in Eastern Canada.--Pascal Noël (talk) 01:39, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cliché Hot as SOFTDELETE, so I have restored it on your request. I will notify user Ebe123 (talk) who nominated the article, and he may choose to renominate it, but I am sure he will give you time to add sources. Lean Engineering

John,

Can I get Lean Engineering put in my sandbox. I would like to do the work needed to get it posted.

I know I need references, but other than clearing up the copyright concern (which I own leanengineering.com), can you tell me what else is wrong with it?

Thanks,

Kevin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kcschlack (talkcontribs) 21:00, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but we cannot accept copyright material on the basis of an assertion of ownership - copyright is a very serious matter for Wikipedia, and we have no way to be certain that someone on the end of a wire is who he says. I do see other problems, but I am afraid I am out of time tonight - I will reply on your talk page within 24 hours. For a start, read WP:No original research. JohnCD (talk) 21:07, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the deletion of the Gudmund Jensen Bridge

Hi. As you know, I copied the materials from johnweeks.com However, I own the website. Calabe1992 told me that I Can copy from my site, as long as it is posted. HappyWheeler4Life (talk) 00:21, 28 March 2012 (UTC)HW4LIFE[reply]

That website is marked "Copyright © 1996—2012, all rights reserved." Wikipedia cannot accept material copied from it on the basis that someone on the end of a wire says that he owns it. You can either change the copyright notice on the website to one that releases the material under CC-BY-SA, or email us from an address connected with the website. The instructions are at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Understand that if you release the material to Wikipedia, you are allowing any reader to copy, modify, and re-use the material for any purpose including commercial. JohnCD (talk) 13:31, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you restore the header? Its been practice at DRV for years to remove the headers once a page is completed for archiving purposes. Spartaz Humbug! 02:37, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry - I looked in the Table of Contents at WP:DRV to see what had happened to that one, didn't see it there, and thought the header must have been removed accidentally. I would have thought it useful to leave closed items visible in the ToC until they drop into the Recent Discussions section, but far be it from me to disturb established practice! Aagman band page deletion

hi John..I am aware of A7 but what made me create that artilce was because I saw many other band's like JAL, Euphoria (Hindi Bands) in the Wiki. Can I know what criteria my articel failed to fulfill as compared to the above mentioned bands. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Akhilesh Moghia (talkcontribs) 11:49, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Many of our 3,900,000 articles are not up to standard, so What about that other article? is not an argument that is accepted - each article is considered on its own merits, and the standard for bands is WP:BAND. Having released a "few songs for free download" is not nearly enough. Two other points: an encyclopedia article shouldn't be written by someone directly concerned, see WP:COI, and it shouldn't make promotional claims like "huge popularity" and "one of the most famous upcoming bands in India" unless it can cite a reliable independent source for them. Good luck with the band, but for the moment Myspace or Facebook is the place to write about them. JohnCD (talk) 14:01, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We cannot accept copied material unless a formal copyright release is made; but in any case, there was nothing in that to show that he is WP:Notable enough to have an article (see also WP:Notability (people)). It would be suitable for a social-networking site like Myspace or Facebook, but not for an encyclopedia. JohnCD (talk) 15:46, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bella Bellissima

Hi John,

I was just wondering why you deleted my post on Bella Bellissima? I found the company to be very fascinating and thought that there was very little information about it on the internet. I think that there are very few british manufactures these days, and that it is important that information about them is readily available. Especially in a non biased perspective. Bella Crane is the Fragrance designer, and she was also the host of TV Series: A place in the Sun. I believe that should be enough credit to have a wikipedia mention.

Can you please advise what was wrong with the post?

Many Thanks,

Alex Vstudent (talk) 10:49, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nader Raghid Nader Shakhshir

Well you deleted the page because of the copy writes not because of the notability ! and he is a public figure in his country , Queen, Princesses and princes were tweeting about him and his photography, so can you please undelete the page if you excuse ! and the written staff are claiming copy writes as he accepts that to be copied — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.127.214.253 (talk) 23:05, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, copyright material cannot be undeleted just because someone on the end of a wire says "he accepts that to be copied." You would have to follow the procedure at WP:Donating copyrighted materials. But that would be a waste of your time, because there is not enough there to show WP:Notability to Wikipedia's standard, which requires "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". See WP:Notability (people) for more details of the sort of level required, and WP:42. JohnCD (talk) 21:48, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Santosh Sharma

Hi John CD!

The article on Santosh Sharma was redirected to "Next What's In" by you based on a discussion by the other wikipedia editors. The editors stated that if there is any other reference other than the book then only it deserves to be a separte article. This was not in line with the ((WP:GNG)) guidelines as there was significant coverage of Santosh Sharma in reliable sources.

Still i am provideing few new references to support that Santosh Sharma deserves a separate article. Kindly have a look at them and reinstate the article.

Yes, I am the right person to ask, because I closed the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Santosh Sharma (2nd nomination) as redirect; but these references do not convince me to overturn the result of that discussion, because they are still about him in terms of his book. If you disagree, you can take it to WP:Deletion review. JohnCD (talk) 21:54, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

TERRY — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tezza UK (talkcontribs) 12:14, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You registered as MurderUK (talk · contribs), which is the name of your website; that account was blocked, and you were pointed to the WP:Conflict of interest guideline, because accounts whose names are those of organizations or websites are not allowed. Wikipedia is very resistant to being used for any kind of promotion, and the external links policy at WP:EL#ADV says that

"in line with Wikipedia policies, you should avoid linking to a site that you own, maintain, or represent—even if WP guidelines seem to imply that it may otherwise be linked. When in doubt, you may go to the talk page and let another editor decide."

British Workers Party

I creating this page to tell the world about the political idioligy of Nationalist Socialism (centrlism) Please just advise me were to improve my article instead of deleting it as I spent along time creating the article. Kind regards, --Joeb20122012 (talk) 20:40, 30 March 2012 (UTC) also lots of other political partys have a site so why cant this one??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joeb20122012 (talkcontribs) 20:42, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a soapbox for telling the world about anything - see Wikipedia is not here to tell the world about your noble cause. What you wrote wasn't an encyclopedia article, it was the Party's constitution. Other political parties have articles if they are notable, which has to be shown by references to "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." If your party is very new, you probably can't do that, which means it is too soon for a Wikipedia article - an encyclopedia is not in the business of helping to promote new things. Try Myspace or Facebook. JohnCD (talk) 22:17, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes but there is no other political party like BWP so really I am trying to explain nationalist socialism (a form of centrism) through the party. Maybe making a page on nationalist socialism. please note nationalist socialism has no connection to national socialism as nationalist and national have totally different meanings. I do not see the point why articles are just speedy deleted instead of the author being given "a notice to improve." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joeb20122012 (talkcontribs) 07:22, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

An article about Nationalist Socialism would have the same problem - you want to use Wikipedia to explain something new, but that is not what an encyclopedia is for. That's why we have the WP:Notability requirement to show "significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources" and why the WP:No original research policy says: "If no reliable third-party sources can be found on a topic, Wikipedia should not have an article about it. If you discover something new, Wikipedia is not the place to premiere such a discovery." The point of speedy deletion is that where it is clear an article cannot be made suitable (see WP:AMOUNT) it saves the author working on re-writing it and re-writing it only to have it deleted anyway. JohnCD (talk) 21:46, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Santosh Sharma

Hi John CD! Thanks a lot for your prompt response. I think you missed to have a look at the first link - It is done by "Your Story" which is India's Largest online entrepreneurship, innovation and ideas magazine with CNBC TV18 as its partner. It talks of Santosh, his ideas, his organization, his journey and his vision and not the book. Request you to have a relook at the link. Surely i don't intend to waste your time. http://yourstory.in/2012/03/dissolve-the-box-santosh-sharma/ Hope we are able to address the issue at this level itself. Formula Amaroli deleted article

Hey mate,

I'm just sending you a message because I was searching for Formula Amaroli and then found the (recently I think) deleted article.

Although the article says "Formula Amaroli World Cup", that is not only the championship but also the name of the mod. A reference for this mod is an important one about online gaming/sim racing. Many people play with these cars on rfactor, and many leagues use it for championships etc.

One example is the Race 2 Play website, a huge hub of sim racing:

http://www.race2play.com/sim/show_run_class/183#cars

You can see from the rfactor central page (only one of the download sources) there are 1888 rating votes rating Formula Amaroli a 369/500 mod.

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Armaroli%20WorldCup

You can also find referenced download links for the mod in other places such as:

http://www.racesimulations.com/RFACTOR/AWC/downloads/776.html

And actually many independent reviews of the mod:

http://www.virtualr.net/formula-armaroli-for-rfactor-released

And if you just search on youtube you'll find lots of videos from people playing the mod, including some more recent ones (since the mod was released in 2006), like this one (e.g.):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnOshHawa1k

Anyway, I have nothing to do with them and it's not my article. But I was researching it to find more about it and Wikipedia was the natural place to go; I was quite chocked to find it deleted.

Cheers, Luiz Erlebnis888Erlebnis888 (talk) 11:10, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

After a lot of searching, I guess the article you mean is Armaroli Sim Racing World Cup. I deleted that as a result of the deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Armaroli Sim Racing World Cup. There may be scope for an article about the mod, and you or anyone are welcome to write one, but the deleted article was actually about the championship, and those who contributed couldn't find enough coverage of that to meet Wikipedia's notability requirement for an article. Mendocino Music Festival

Hi there! You were kind enough to help me last month re the Mendocino Music festival page, and you suggested I write to Orange Mike to see if he had time to help me get this all sorted out, and I did, but I have not heard from him. NOw that you are back, could you possibly help me? I have put some suggested edits on the Mendocino talk page, as well as my questions on how to clear up all the comments on the page, and I have not heard from anyone, but you did tell me sometimes it takes several weeks to hear back..But now that you are back, would you please help me get things fixed? I wanted to add the note you see on the talk page, and also to take out some things in the main body that are no longer correct, and also add a photo..I did send an email to the page about photos but did not hear back, so maybe I messed that up. I have a new photo which does not contain a copyright logo and the photographer has sent me a note saying I can use it and that is what I sent on...I just don't seem too good at this!! Anyway, I did want to mention that since the festival is run by volunteers, I can't find a non-biased person to write anything, but I can learn to write properly I think with some help...??

Bella Bellissima

Hi John,

Thanks for your response, I understand the need for independent articles or media coverage, and have found an index of all the neutral paper publications the company has received:

http://www.bellabellissima.co.uk/Press%20Articles/

Notably they have received press from: The Daily Mail, Elle, Loaded, Grazia, Style, Telegraph, Toni & Guy, Stella, and Vogue.

Would this be enough coverage to grant 'userfy status', so that i could write the article properly?

Many Thanks,

Suggestions on Folding@home? GA coming soon!

Hi there JohnCD! I noticed that you have an interest in Folding@home and thought I'd let you know that I've extensively edited the article and I believe that it's very, very close to GA nominations, something that is long overdue IMO. I'm doing a fairly informal request for comment thing, so if you could read it through and drop me a line or something with any improvement suggestions I'd appreciate it. I'm striving to make it encyclopedic, factually accurate, etc. If there's enough consensus that things are fine I will ask Dr. Pande for a final review and then put it up for GA nominations which I hope will transpire smoothly. I estimate that all of these events will occur within the next several weeks. So if you are interested, please let me know what you think and watch for the GA nomination! :D Your fellow folder, Jesse V. (talk) 02:44, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

gas pressure blasting

Hi John, I would appreciate you reinstating the above page which I originated and was improving as time allowed, as well as going through the formal approval process. I am not sure as to the reasons for deletion (I was trying to correct the matters already highlighted to me) but would politely (nicely) ask for a stay pof execution!. The subject is a very difficult one to source good references and citations for, but I am trying :-). Good written material and standard web research do not provide an accurate overview of the subject and that is what I am trying to do on wikipedia (I am not acomplete novice I have originated and edited other pages). If you do not knbowe about the subject it is about a process/product that is safer and more environmentally friendly tha existing high explosive methods of doing the same thing. If you are unable to reinstate then I would appreciate a sandbox version otherwisew all the contributions to date are lost! Thanks for youir help, Steve.
