Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is a nonprofit community hospital in Woodbridge, Virginia. The 183-bed hospital has an employee staff of over 1,000.

History

The hospital opened in 1972 as Potomac Hospital with 29 beds and 61 doctors.[1]

Potomac Hospital became part of the Inova Health System.

Sentara Healthcare took over operations at Potomac Hospital in December 2009. On April 16, 2012, they announced the name change to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center.[1]
