Knock Madness [2] is the upcoming third album by American rapper Hopsin and his second under Funk Volume.

Hopsin has said that the overall vibe of the album will be different from RAW and that he has said all he needs to on the Ruthless Records issue.

Background

Hopsin spoke out about the album in an interview with HipHopDX on August 12, 2011, saying that he is "aiming to make the production quality of Knock Madness sound just as good, if not, better than Dr. Dre's upcoming album Detox."[3] He also stated that this album will have a "Positive message" and that when people listen to the album he wants them to feel "inspired".

On January 17, 2012 fellow Funk Volume rappers SwizZz and Dizzy Wright were confirmed to feature on the album.[4] In an interview, Hopsin said that he talked to Tech N9ne about appearing on Knock Madness, which he agreed to collaborate on.[5] Other collaborations that have been speculated have been Stevie Stone, E-40, Kendrick Lamar, and fellow XXL 2012 Freshmen Danny Brown and Machine Gun Kelly.

On January 20, 2012 Hopsin stated via his Twitter account that "Knock Madness is my main priority in life right now" He went on to say that he might take a step back from the music business for awhile, stating that Knock Madness would be impossible to finish otherwise. He also said "I need to lock myself away from the world so I can make the illest shit I've ever made."[6] The album is set to be released September 18th, after being pushed back several times.

In an interview with ThisIs50[7], Hopsin released information on the album, saying that the lead single will be named "Hop Madness." Hopsin confirmed via his Facebook and Twitter on January 5, 2012 that he would be shooting the "Hop Madness" video this month.[8] On February 16, 2012, Hopsin stated via Twitter that he would be in Burbank, California shooting the final scene of the "Hop Madness" video, and the music video will be released within the next month.[9] On February 24, 2012, Hopsin posted a Facebook status stating that the "Hop Madness" music video was in the editing process now and is due out between March 5 and March 10. Hopsin later officially said, that he will be dropping "Hop Madness" on Saturday, March, 10, 2012. Funk Volume released a statement late March 10 saying that "Hop Madness" has been delayed to mid-March for improvements. On March 15, 2012, once the song started to spread around the internet, Hopsin stated on his Twitter and Facebook that "Hop Madness did not leak. I put it out you freak nuts. Im uploading the video right now. Lets get it poppin." The video officially came out on March 15, 2012. It was well received by most.

On April 20, 2012, Hopsin and Funk Volume posted pictures on their official Facebook pages of Hopsin with Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker. The caption of the picture Hopsin uploaded read "Me and the homie Travis Barker collaborated on a dope ass beat yesterday. It was my first beat collab that I'm actually gonna spit over." It is rumored that the track will feature on Knock Madness.

In April 2012, during another interview with ThisIs50, Hopsin hinted that the album will be released in September 2012. Hopsin also confirmed his fellow label mates SwizZz, Dizzy Wright, and DJ Hoppa will all feature on his album. On July 19, 2012, via Ustream, Hopsin stated that new Funk Volume artist Jarren Benton would also feature on the album.

On July 9, 2012, Hopsin confirmed on his facebook page that "Hop Madness" will no longer appear on the album and expressing that the song was "bullshit". Instead, "Ill Mind of Hopsin 5" had been released as the lead single on July 18, 2012.
