Lost: The Journey is a clip show narrated by Brian Cox about the first season of Lost. It first aired on April 27, 2005 on ABC. The show narrates how the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 became stranded in a mysterious island and the strange phenomenons that they encounter.
Psychological and human aspects
The shows narrates how the survivors suffer from certain defence mechanisms through their experience, such as:
- altruism – delivering and preparing food for other survivors for nothing in exchange
- denial – not accepting the fact that they are stranded
- displacement – expressing anger towards another survivors for no reason
- humour – making fun of the situation
- intellectualization – creating complex ideas about why they crashed on the island
- isolation – certain survivors constrain themselves into solitude
- passive-aggressive behavior – being stubborn to other survivors
- rationalization – justifying certain actions
- reaction formation – being hostile to certain survivors when there is an attraction
- regression – reacting to failure with immature responses (possibly caused by post-traumatic stress disorder)
- repression – having no memory of past actions due to a shocking experience or psychological trauma
