Kayastha and Kulin Kayastha

Hi, please will you review our policies regarding verifiability and reliable sources before adding any more content to Kayastha, Kulin Kayastha or indeed any other article. These are fundamental policies and need to be followed.

Furthermore, your recently created article, Kulin Kayastha, is primarily an unattributed copy/paste of the Kayastha article. This is a breach of our licensing terms. It would be appreciated if you could correct this, which would most likely involve you removing all of the relevant content and then reinstating it with a note in the edit summary explaining from where it is copied etc. I also would query whether, based on current content, the community even exists - a read of notability might be useful for future reference. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 15:24, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kulin Kayasthas

Hello Madam, A few clarifications-Kulin Kayasthas do exist. the rules as to their social interaction, taking food, marrying etc. although arent followed as strictly any more as is the case with all other Indian castes and communities. Further, as regards copying from the Kayastha page is concerned, since most of the historical background for both the topics is same, thus the references are the same as have been given there. The Kulin Kayasthas are just a sub-division of the Kayastha community, and are found only amongst the Hindu Bengalis. The kulina system is a unique system prevalent only in the Bengali Brahmins and Kayasthas. Nothing here is copied from any particular book or article, due to my keen interest in the subject, i have been gathering a lot of knowledge in these subjects for very long, primarily from first hand interaction with a lot of people concerned with these matters in their daily chores such as village priests and elders of those areas as there isn't a lot of documented record to be found on this system particularly amongst the Kayasthas of bengalis, some parts of it have been taken from some articles on a website by the name of ambedkar.org. Yet I haven't as yet read your policy terms, I shall go through them once, before editing editing any article any further or even adding a new one. Your message has significantly discouraged me from venturing any further with editing work on wikipedia. Best Regards Rudro Chatterjee (Ruderow (talk) 15:56, 31 October 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Well, I am sorry if you are discouraged as that was not my intent. We do, however, have rules and guidelines, and they do need to be followed. I note that you are or were a student of law, and so it surprises me that you have also inserted numerous WP:Copyright violations in Kulin Kayasthas. These are a major problem and I am removing them all: we cannot expose Wikipedia to the risk of legal action, sorry.
Please do read up on some of the rules etc, and don't be discouraged. - Sitush (talk) 16:14, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have "fixed" the article a fair bit. Why not take a look at it? It may give you some idea of how things need to be done. There is plenty of room for additional info (the marriage system springs to mind) and for improvements to the info already there, provided always that it is done in a way that complies with policy etc. Feel free to ask any questions and, again, please do not be discouraged. - Sitush (talk) 00:53, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to say that you've put in very little research before 'fixing' this. The book you have cited isn't a very reliable one, simply because it is one of those mission books related some particular sect which often carry biased views. I read that you are computer science student and have been actively editing/adding politics related articles, I also saw that you've earned awards from wikiproject India. yet I strongly doubt your anthropological inclinations, particularly, knowledge on Indian castes and communities. Your source might specifically, say shudra, but such specific citation doesnt carry any corroborative citation. Please be careful next time, you might mean offence to some people unknowingly. There are a lot of other books you might refer to, if you want I can help you with the links of the e-books. I am for most parts a technophobic, and the complex reference citing system for wiki articles has served as hindrance for me to edit articles, and that was precisely the reason why I took a lot of the original article from the "Kayastha" article, and more so because I hadn't read the pertinent rules as per the policy of eikipedia. (Ruderow (talk) 07:56, 2 November 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Sorry, but please do not believe everything you read, here or elsewhere. You know nothing about me, despite what you might think - in fact, you are way the mark. If you have got your information from my own user page then I am afraid that you have misinterpreted it in quite a big way.
It was not my intention to edit the article at all, except it was obvious that things were badly awry. It needed some valid content otherwise it would have run the risk of being deleted. I am aware that the book is not perfect as a source. I have also explained that I can (& will) provide numerous other sources for the point. Wikipedia is not censored - if I follow the policies etc then that is usually good enough to make the contribution valid, even if some people may be upset. We cannot please all of the people all of the time, nor indeed is it our role to please anyone: our role is to present the information to the best of our ability, using reliable sources etc. If there are two or more reliably sourced points of view then we show them all.
Feel free to list what you've got in the way of sources & I'll help you with the citations etc, no problem. You'll soon pick things up, I am sure. - Sitush (talk) 08:30, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kulin Kayastha

Thanks for your effort in stating facts regarding the origin of Kulin Kayasthas. Please check my contribution on the Kulin Kayastha Talk Page titled 'Resolution of Dispute through Discussions - Kind Attention Administrators'. Calcuttan (talk) 06:43, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kulin Kayastha, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bose (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 11:55, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked for sockpuppetry

Reaper Eternal I cannot make the formal unblock request right now, but yes, consider this an informal one. I can assure you that I operate only one account on Wikipedia, which is this, I do not have any other account whatsoever. I do not even happen to know Calcuttan or the other fellow who has been blocked as well. Your conclusions are based on premature assumptions and are grossly erroneous. Do consider unblocking me once, so that I can defend my side in the ongoing SPI investigation, Id also request you at the same time to consider unblocking the other two fellows. Just because we agree on some point does not mean we are the same person, that's a really funny conclusion to draw. If tallying and comparing IP addresses have any evidential value, do see the IP addresses as well. As for contributions, compare the contributions, I contribute on varied subjects, which include articles on a number of North Indian cities, other Hindu castes and sects etc. I am also very keen on answering Sitush back on the recently started thread on the article's talk page. --Ruderow (talk) 09:51, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
