Blue Mountain Mystery is a Thomas & Friends direct-to-DVD special. The film is set to receive a limited theatrical release on September 1, 2012 at Vue Cinemas in the UK. [1]
Plot
When Paxton is derailed by the destruction of a bridge, Thomas is sent to relieve him and work with the narrow gauge engines for a few days. He sees a small, green locomotive storming out of a tunnel and for a few times, is seen either pulling trucks or scurrying past. After some denials and distress from hard work, the Skarloey Railway locos tell Thomas that the engine is Luke who did something very bad a long time ago and will be sent away from Sodor if he is found guilty. After some privacy from the narrow gauge engines about Luke's bad incident, Thomas returns to Tidmouth Sheds and confers his friends what would an engine's experience to an accident be a look-like to being sent away from Sodor. Percy recalls A Scarf For Percy, Henry recalls The Sad Story of Henry and Thomas recalls Down the Mine. James recalls Misty Island Rescue which Devious Diesel lost the load of Jobi logs near the new Sodor Search and Rescue Center about to be built. After an accident was about to happened, Thomas becomes a friend to Luke and tries to find out about a yellow engine after The Fat Controller sends him back to work for his old job.
This becomes worse when Diesel (as of Paxton) is hearing Paxton's information about Luke and what happened on his arrival. Diesel used Paxton's information and is keen to use Luke who befriends Thomas as a monster to target one of The Fat Controller's engines. Thomas tells Cranky the Crane about a yellow engine he did lift out, but Diesel arrives and tells the crane where he can find The Fat Controller which Cranky the Crane didn't like being answered by engines with important questions. Thomas goes to the Sodor Steamworks and finds Victor who is revealed to be the yellow engine that fell into the sea. He tells Thomas his version of the story and the immediate cause was that the chains holding him weren't tight properly before his rescue in good weather. Thomas gets evenly more worse when Diesel tries to tell the The Fat Controller all about Luke, but the head of the North Western Railway disbelieves it and Thomas knew that he didn't work on his branch line. The Skarloey Railway engines were betrayed, particularly Luke by Thomas for disobeying their rules to speak with other engines on both railways.
Diesel and Paxton are delighted to hear this, and taunts Thomas and Luke (running away in fear from him) that The Fat Controller and The Thin Controller will send Luke away forever. Thomas' nemesis is shocked and Thomas is pulled upwards by both Owen the Incline and Rocky the Breakdown Crane which was going to be very heavy before reaching the top. Luke is being taunted by our main character's nemesis about an accident Luke should know about, but Thomas tells him to shut Diesel's mouth and ingore him with pride in getting our main character at the top of Blue Mountain Quarry. Paxton is ordered by Diesel to do one errand: bring Sir Topham Hatt and Mr. Percival as Thomas responded in sending Victor to the site. Poor Paxton doesn't know what to do and Diesel orders him OUT of the quarry. With Diesel's victory on the verge to bring Thomas' downfall to an end, Thomas cannot fail his mission and is confident he can still help Luke. Suddenly, Thomas (travelling on narrow gauge tracks) crashes through a set of buffers, out of control and is about to go over a very dangerous cliff with the narrow gauge engines looking up in horror.
Luke saves Thomas by coupling him at the back of Thomas' bunker and while that's happening, Diesel still taunts and sneers that Thomas' death from that cliff will cause a major downfall and him, the victorious diesel locomotive on the Island of Sodor. Luke didn't listen to our main character's nemesis and finally, Thomas is soon rescued. Glory turns to shatter when both Thomas and Luke rush down the incline in a shower of sparks (like The Great Discovery, flying in the air) and then, reached the bottom with a loud thud. Diesel's victory is turned into a failure, but causes a heated argument from both Thomas and Diesel about what happened with the controllers at hand before Paxton carried Victor to the quarry which both controllers were stunned to see him. With Luke welcomed to the Skarloey Railway and cleared of the incident from before, The Fat Controller scolds Diesel for being so quick to tell the tales and events which also didn't find out about the whole story before coming to see him. Everything was back to normal and lastly someone is giving Thomas, Victor and Luke a big surprise and it was...
