The FFA Cup is a proposed knock-out style cup which has been announced by Football Federation Australia that will bring together A-League clubs as well as local state sides to compete in a knock-out competition in which all state and territory football clubs will be allowed to enter the cup. It has also been indicated that a number of regional clubs will also take part in the competition.[1]

Format

Local state teams will need to survive earlier knockout rounds before mixing with A-League clubs in the last-32 stage.[2] Details and format of the FFA Cup are yet to be finalised however it is suggested that it will launch in March 2012[3] during the 2012-13 A-League season with games to be played midweek and the final to be held on Australia Day. More information will be clarified when details of this competition are made public by the FFA. It has since been mentioned that the competition is now scheduled for kick-off in 2013.[4]

Participating clubs

All A-League clubs are expected to compete, excluding Template:ALeague WP who are a New Zealand based club.
