Bad Intentions is the debut solo studio album by British rapper Dappy, that was released via Takeover Entertainment Limited and Island Records.[1] The album is Dappy's first studio material released since the split of his previous hip-hop band, N-Dubz. The release of the album was announced in July 2011, with Dappy insisting that he "wished to push his music style and motives in alternative directions."[2] On July 3, 2012, the album was confirmed for release on October 1, 2012,[3] but on September 13, 2012, the album was delayed till October 15 and then to October 22.

Background

After N-Dubz decided to take an indefinite break to begin work on solo projects, following their departure from American record label Def Jam,[4] it was revealed that Dappy intended to pursue a solo career. He commented in an interview, "I want to do the unexpected and I want to break barriers." His first solo effort was a collaboration with fellow rapper Tinchy Stryder, on the lead single from his fourth studio album, Full Tank, entitled Spaceship. He later revealed his debut solo single, No Regrets, and announced that his debut solo record would be entitled "Bad Intentions".[2] Rockstar was later revealed as the album's second single, and "Come With Me", a collaboration featuring Margs, Dawood and Retro, originally entitled "I Won't Remember", will be released as the album's third single. A cover of Queen's "We Will Rock You", entitled "Rock You",[5] will appear on the deluxe edition of the album. A track that failed to make the final cut of the album, "Dare To Dream", was previouslly discussed in a press interview.[6]

Singles

  • "No Regrets" was released as the album's lead single on September 18, 2011,[7] peaking at #1 on the UK Singles Chart and #8 in Ireland. His N-Dubz band-mate Fazer makes a cameo appearance in the music video for the track, playing the piano in the bridge section.
  • "Come With Me", a collaboration with Margs, Dawood and Retro, was released as the album's third single on August 12, 2012.[11] A music video for the track was filmed on the week commencing June 25, 2012, and a preview of it was screened on T4 music on July 27, 2012. However, to this date, the video remains unreleased, and the single was removed from purchase just days after release, and only charted at #101 on the UK Singles Chart.
  • "Good Intentions" was released as the album's fourth single on September 16, 2012. The release of the track was confirmed by Dappy at T4 on the Beach. The track premièred on BBC Radio 1 Xtra on August 8, 2012. A music video for the track was filmed in Hawaii at the end of July 2012. Dappy said of the single, ""Hope you like it guys... Something a little different for ya... Just speaking from the heart...".[12] The single peaked at #12 on the UK Singles Chart on September 23, 2012.

Track listing

  • The album's track listing was confirmed by HMV on July 3, 2012,[13] however, on August 17, 2012, the track listing was revised.[3] On September 26, the album's track listing was confirmed via iTunes with the length of each track being revealed. The iTunes edition also includes three bonus music videos.[14]
