Palikir (/[invalid input: 'icon']ˈpælɪkər/) is an urban area which serves as the capital of the Federated States of Micronesia [1] since Nov. 1989, when it replaced Kolonia, the other large settlement on the island. It has a population of 4,645 and is located on the island of Pohnpei. It is part of the municipality of Sokehs.
