O. C. Ukeje (born on July 15, 1981) is Nigerian actor, model and musician.

Early Life

Okechukwu Ukeje was born in Lagos state, Nigeria. He is the second child of a family of 3.

Career

He began his career in acting from his first year at the University of Lagos, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria with a lead role on a stage play. His father, a caterer and his mum, a staff of the Nigerian Civil Service were ever supportive and he went on to pursue both music and acting, focusing on the acting, on stage plays specifically for the first 4 years of his career, before attempting and winning a reality TV show for actors, Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO).[1] He began a full career with a merger of stage and screen. His first screen appearance, as directed by Izu Ojukwu was in White Waters (2008) with the acclaimed Joke Silva and Rita Dominic.

He went on to win the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for the Best Upcoming Actor (2008) and the City People's Award for Best New Act (2010).

All this time, he continued to write material for his music, collaborating with a few Nigerian musical artistes and producers and working on radio jingles for corporate organizations.He has worked in movies and television between 2008 and 2012.

He has been a member of cast of the TV series that was presented at the International Emmy World Television Festival, Wetin Dey (2007) produced by the BBC World Service Trust and played lead and supporting lead roles in films like Comrade, Confusion Na Wa and The Awakening, all yet to be released. He has worked with the acclaimed Nigerian director, Jeta Amata on Black November (2012) with cast members such as Mickey Rourke, Kim Basinger, Sarah Wayne-Callies, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Vivica Fox and a host of others. He was also on the film adaptation of Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Half of a Yellow Sun (2013) with Chinwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton and Anika Noni-Rose as lead cast as directed by London-based Nigerian writer and film director, Biyi Bandele. His most recently premiered movie was HoodRush (2012)and he was on the repertory team that showcased 3 stage plays for the Nigeria House at the London Cultural Olympiad (2012). He has just concluded shoot in London for the BFI sponsored film, Gone Too Far.

Personal Life

He lives in Lagos, Nigeria.
