Kelly Ayotte

While I am not a part of the previous corrections to Kelly Ayotte, I can tell that the changes you made were not valid or legal. How can I arrange a discussion with you., — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.96.187.187 (talk) 01:24, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I'm afraid you've misunderstood; I didn't make any changes to the article, I applied temporary "semi-protection" to the article Kelly Ayotte (meaning that unregistered users are prevented from editing it for a limited period). If you want to make changes to the article, please register an account. However, as you just used the word "legal", you must read Wikipedia:No legal threats before continuing. — Scott talk 09:37, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Vorilong

Regarding your comment:

With an edit that introduced an unreferenced claim about "a theory about the existence of sentient extraterrestrial life" with an edit summary of "HOW 'BOUT THIS THEN EH?" how on Earth can you be surprised about that?

I have not introduced the unreferenced claim about the extraterrestrial life. I merely removed the (obviously spurious) claim about Vorilong "influencing" Scotus.

Apologies - I misread the diff! That edit summary was a bit out of the ordinary, though, no? I'm still not surprised that someone undid it. Also - nice to encounter a Wikipediocracy reader. Have you considered registering on the board? — Scott talk 08:29, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, no problem, and sorry for the non-static IP, by the way (I have no control over that). I am an avid reader of that board! It's my first point of call for all Wikipedia-related breaking news, always! -- 80.135.19.244 (talk) 23:47, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can you make a semi block on the page pls? Cause they ignore the to do list and post the date and title before it airing and it doesn't make fun to undo it.87.161.214.138 (talk) 04:28, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re

this comment. I was pointing to NYB's and Carcharoth's comments regarding accepting a case straight off ANI, skipping any intermediate process such as RfC/U, at the bottom of that page. It wasn't about you at all. I certainly wasn't expecting a retrial - as I said at the time, I thought the outcome was good: moderate, understanding and targeted.

I think - and I thought you did too - that the simplest and most effective form of admin reform is that kind of thing. Not revolutionary new noticeboards, reams of new policy, de-adminship tribunals, etc., etc. (Your case was a textbook example of that. It was your agreement to drop the banninator for a year that defused and settled the thing.) And NYB seems willing to give it a shot.[1] --Anthonyhcole (talk · contribs · email) 16:47, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies for that - I completely misread your comment, as you can tell. I've struck through my response over there. And yes, I do agree that it's a good way forward for these kinds of issues. — Scott talk 17:05, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. It's probably due to my inordinate wordiness. --Anthonyhcole (talk · contribs · email) 17:26, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Barnstar of Diplomacy
Rare to see someone admit that they made a mistake during a discussion centering on both of our two endless sources of drama (blocks of major contributors, and complaints about admins). Refreshing, I suppose. Sometimes, with this stuff, it's like people forget WP:AGF even exists. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 20:31, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know if it is a "useful response", but I answered. cyclopiaspeak! 12:08, 8 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

For some reason, you and an IP address seem to have taken an axe to this article, where a scalpel would have been much more useful, thus hacking out entire sections of useful and cited material. Bearian (talk) 16:29, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That page was a mass of synthesis and irrelevancies. Looking at the history now, I note much of it was added by you. Structurally it was of extremely poor quality, being little more than a list of quotations masquerading as an article.
If you have specific concerns, I would suggest bringing them up on the article's talk page, rather than griping vaguely at me here. Thanks. — Scott talk 16:40, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, and no rush. I have started a discussion at Talk:Rights of Englishmen. Bearian (talk) 16:43, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cluster Headache

Hi Scott,

I agree, Wiki is not a list of Cluster Headache support groups. But I would like to help, I have much to offer.

Firstly, I know very, very little about using, contributing to, or editing Wikipedia. That's your department. Having said that, I wish to help work on a revision of the page on Cluster Headache. I am a researcher and cluster headache patient of 34 years. I have access to world's best Headache practitioners, literature, current medical journals, studies and usually spend around 15 hours a day sifting all available literature on CH and some specific headache conditions.

The current "Cluster Headache" page seems to be in need of citations, which I can either provide, or have the un-cited references cross-referenced, backed with current literature, or removed where appropriate.

I can have qualified scientific peer review contributed and any additions and omissions checked over by the best headache clinicians in the business, with whom I consult and to whose expertise, I defer. I have no commercial interest or online presence. I do have an interest in current and factual information being made available to those who search the term "Cluster headache".

Wiki owns the page. Google leads patients seeking treatment to read it. Wikipedia's contributors are speaking on behalf of my condition. Wikipedia does not own my condition. I would like to contribute in order to make the page more accessible to those in need of clear, cited, relevant, truthful, accurate and current information regarding the condition. If you are a cluster headache patient, you will understand. If you are not a cluster headache patient, I am sure you have good intentions and wish to help those who are, to seek accurate information. I would rather work with you than against you. You have the Wiki experience. I have the Cluster headache experience, 70 clinical trials to my name and I have generated approx 3000 pages of literature on the subject, in helping sufferers.

Perhaps we can put our heads together and see the page bought up to standard and reflect current study outcomes, literature and positions of sufferers.

I am 100% genuine, here to help, not to argue. I want clear definitions for patients of Cluster headache as much as patients themselves want relief. Please let me know if you will be prepared to help in this task.

Thanks. (Won't put my name here yet, like I said; I know not how Wikipedia works, I just want to help, truthfully...) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cluster H Brain (talkcontribs) 08:35, 10 July 2013‎

Hi there. I agree that the cluster headache article needs work, and additional citations from journals, studies, etc. would be most welcome! Head over to Help:Getting started for information to bring you up to speed on how editing works.
Please sign your posts to talk pages by typing ~~~~ at the end - this will insert your user name and the date. Thanks! — Scott talk 10:39, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please re-open DR

Scott: I like what I see from you on the Internet (said so on WTTs board when Malleus said the opposite), but you're in the wrong. Please take a breath and reconsider and then go and re-open the DR or PUFF or whatever it is called.

1. You shouldn't be closing stuff related to you, especially as an admin, especially as speedy when there's no pile-on.

2. FWIW, we might end up having to lose the image if you don't have a release from the author (or can't get one). I don't doubt your honesty. Really. It's just that we don't take hearsay for releases. So it doesn't even matter that it is true, it needs some documentation (a quick email is sufficient). Maybe the posting itself on the 4-channel could be considered, but then you ought to let people look at the specifics.

3. I'm sorry if mattbuck was going after you with the deletion mechanism, but the file is at least questionable.
