- I've uploaded some 115 image files to Wikipedia over the last few years (many more to Commons) and work with image files frequently, providing them for articles when appropriate. I have no urgent need at present for file mover rights but would like to have this ability as some of the files I've uploaded, esp in my early years, could do well with more definitive names. Any file move of course would not be considered lightly, even if the prospective move would be within policy/guidelines. Thank you. Gwillhickers (talk) 02:43, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

- Not done In checking through your file edits, both locally and at Commons, it seems only one use of {{Rename media}} has been used (at Commons). I also see that you've requested this right at Commons, and I believe this response is probably applicable there too. Although you seem to be an obviously trustworthy editor, we like to see more evidence of knowledge of WP:FMV/W before granting this permission. If you have files that need to be renamed, start by using that template to have others rename them. If you show evidence of successfully requesting and still have a need for this permission, feel free to come back and request this permission. Cheers, TLSuda (talk) 16:29, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- @TLSuda:, thanks for your time and review. Yes, my Filemover request was turned down at Commons for basically the same reasons. Oh well. As I said there, I am very mindful of the policies and considerations regarding filemoves and would not use the privilege lightly. I've been writing and contributing to history articles mostly and lately and am now going to get back into writing and creating stamp articles, which usually are very image intensive, and thought the Filemover privilege would come in handy as there are a number of stamp images that lack year dates, etc. In any case, thanks again for your consideration. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 17:08, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- I have no doubts in my mind that you have the ability to use the permissions effectively. We have a standard, generally, that we like to see evidence of knowledge in the form of past edits before giving a permission. I would have no problem giving you the permissions after some time, with evidence that you successfully have used it. Cheers, TLSuda (talk) 17:59, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
