Bethe Correia is a Brazilian mixed martial artist currently competing for the Ultimate Fighting Championship in the Women's Bantamweight division.

Mixed martial arts career

Early career

Correia says she started mixed martial arts training to get in shape and entered an amateur Sanda tournament.[1] She currently holds a Jiu-Jitsu blue belt and Kung Fu purple belt.[1] While training she also earned a degree in accounting.[1]

Correia made her professional MMA debut in her native Brazil in May 2012. She was undefeated for the first year and a half of her career, amassing a record of 6 wins and no losses before joining the UFC.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

In October 2013, it was announced that Correia signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC.[2]

Correia made her promotional debut the following December as she faced women's MMA veteran Julie Kedzie at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Bigfoot.[3] She won the fight via split decision.

For her second fight, Correia faced Jessamyn Duke on April 26, 2014 at UFC 172.[4] She won the fight via unanimous decision.

Correia is expected to face Shayna Baszler on August 30, 2014, at UFC 177.[5]
