The Real Housewives of Miami (abbreviated RHOM) is an American reality television series that premiered on February 22, 2011 on Bravo. Developed as the seventh installment of The Real Housewives franchise, following The Real Housewives of Orange County, New York City, Atlanta, New Jersey, D.C., and Beverly Hills, it has aired three seasons and focuses on the personal and professional lives of several women residing in Miami, Florida. Currently the show is in a huge limbo stage over its fate of either being cancelled or being renewed for a fourth season.

The series originally focused on Lea Black, Adriana de Moura, Alexia Echevarria, Marysol Patton, Larsa Pippen, and Cristy Rice. Pippen and Rice left the program after the first season. And Echevarria was demoted to a recurring role. They were replaced by Lisa Hochstein, Joanna Krupa, Karent Sierra, and Ana Quincocoes beginning in the second season. Sierra and Quincocoes departed the series at the conclusion of the second season as main housewives and demoted to recurring along with Patton. They were replaced by the returning Echevarria in the third season.

As of November 2014, the series has neither been renewed nor cancelled since no official statements by Bravo have been made regarding the fourth season.

On March 10, 2010, Bravo announced the series (then titled Miami Social Club) had been picked up and was to be a restructuring of the 2009 series, Miami Social.[1] Later, after filming was completed on the series, Bravo chose instead to make it another installment in the network's The Real Housewives franchise.[2] Bravo announced on February 3, 2011, that the series would premiere later that month[3] and that the fourth season premiere of The Real Housewives of New York City, originally scheduled for February 15, would be pushed back until April. The series premiered on February 22, 2011 with Lea Black, Adriana de Moura, Alexia Echevierra, Marysol Patton, Larsa Pippen and Cristy Rice as main housewives.

The Real Housewives of Miami was renewed for a second season with season one housewives Larsa Pippen and Cristy Rice not returning.[4] Bravo officially green-lit the return of the series for a second season, on February 9, 2012, with new full-time Housewives cast: Lisa Hochstein, Joanna Krupa, Karent Sierra, and Ana Quincoces. And with Echevarria demoted to recurring because she wanted to have more time to care for her son, who was injured in a car accident in 2011. On July 24, 2012, Bravo officially announced that the second season of The Real Housewives of Miami would premiere on Thursday, September 13 at 9/8c. The second season reunion was filmed on November 30, 2012 and aired in two parts starting on December 27, 2012.[5][6][7][8][9]

A third season was confirmed in March 2013 when controversy started as the production company who produces the series, Purveyors of Pop, proposed the use of drones in order to film B-roll aerial shots for the third season.[10] Marysol Patton furthered the confirmation that production had started for season three, when on March 20, 2013, she posted a photo on social media of herself, Ana, Lisa, Adriana, and Alexia attending Miami Fashion Week. Bravo officially announced the third season renewal on April 2, 2013 — although no cast changes, nor premiere date, were revealed.[11][12] It was announced on June 24, 2013 that the third season would debut on August 12, 2013, with Lea Black, Adriana de Moura, Alexia Echevarria, Lisa Hochstein, and Joanna Krupa as main housewives, with Marysol Patton and Ana Quincoces demoted to recurring.[13] Karent Sierra was not asked to return as a main housewife.[14] The season features both Adriana de Moura's wedding to Frederic Marq and Joanna Krupa's wedding to Romain Zago.[13] The third season reunion was filmed in New York City on October 17, 2013.[15] All the Housewives in the main cast were in attendance, as was recurring cast member Marysol Patton.[15]

On February 6, 2014, Alexia Echevarria confirmed that The Real Housewives of Miami will return for a fourth season. She has stated that "[producers] are currently working on dates for taping", adding that "taping is being pushed back a little".[16] However, as of October 2014, no decision has been made by Bravo whether the series is returning for the fourth season. The sources have reported that the show currently is not in production and the series has neither been renewed or cancelled.

Joanna Krupa and Lea Black have since departed the series. [17]
