Renown is the upcoming eighth studio album by Barbadian recording artist Rihanna. It will be released by Roc Nation. During early promotion of her seventh studio album, Unapologetic (2012), studio sessions recommenced in early 2013. As executive producer, Rihanna enlisted producers such as Darkchild, DJ Mustard, David Guetta and Nicky Romero.[1][2][3]

Background

In November 2012, Rihanna released her seventh studio album Unapologetic which was primarily a pop and R&B album that feautred elements of dubstep, hip hop, EDM and reggae similar to the sound of her previous albums Talk That Talk (2011) and Rated R (2009). It features guest vocals from Chris Brown, Eminem, Future, and Mikky Ekko, the album produced seven singles including the international hits "Diamonds" and "Stay". The former peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100 where it became Rihanna's twelfth number one song, tying her with Madonna and The Supremes for fourth most number one songs in the history of the chart. Prior to its release, Rihanna promoted the album with the [[Rihanna 777 Documentary... 7Countries7Days7Shows |777 Tour]] which consisted of a seven-date promotional tour in which she performed seven concerts each in a different city in North America and Europe in seven days as well as futher promoting the album Rihanna embarked on the Diamonds World Tour.

After spending a year and a half on the Diamonds World Tour, Rihanna continued making new music whilst promoting her seventh album. In November 2013, Rihanna revealed that although she had not yet begun recording but she had been working on the new sound" for her eighth studio album. November 25, 2014, Rihanna uploaded on Instagram a video snippet of a new song entitled 'Aint None Of This Promised'.[4]
