MSG: The Messenger is an upcoming film directed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and Jeetu Arora. The stunts have been performed by Singh himself. The film is produced under the Hakikat Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. banner and features Singh in the lead role. According to the producers, the movie deals with youth-related issues like drug abuse, alcoholism, etc.[1] The film has seven songs and it will be released worldwide on Friday 13th February 2015, in Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.[2][3]

Synopsis

Guru ji (Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh) is a spiritual leader who has a huge follower base. He has accepted the challenge of eradicating social evils including drugs and gender-related issues that have been prevailing in the society. Those with vested interests and apathetic towards the welfare of the society are now disturbed as there’s someone who has taken control of the situation. They conspire to kill him. [4]

The music was composed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. The album consists of 7 songs, all written and sung by Singh, himself. A highlight of the movie will be a sequence on a live concert.[5][6]

Promotions and Marketing

The trailer of the film was released on 19th December 2014 and crossed over 1 million views on YouTube within 24 hours, has already created ripples across social media like Facebook and Twitter

World Record

On 16th Jan 2015 for MSG The messenger premier movie at Leisure Valley ground, a large park in Gurgaon city used for exhibitionsand convention. The fans and followers were full of excitement and many of them were clad in MSG T shirts. The followers gathered for promotion of movie had people from all walks of life including the doctors, engineers, teaching faculty, administration etc.the team from Asia Book and India Book of Records to record the official counting of people gathered for the promotion of the movie. The team from Asia Book of Record recorded the official number of people gathered as one lakh fifty seven thousand and two hundred and thirty one (1,57,231) for the promotion.[7]

Filming

The film is being shot at various locations of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala. The movie casting of 13 lakh real actors and a record completion in 67 days are also remarkable. The cast, with almost no training of filmdom, acting as real performers, is truly an astounding while the casting of the song 'Never Ever', about 1.25 lakh performers continued their shot for three days, and on a count of three, 70 thousand candles being lit within 45 seconds is marvel in itself .[8] Singh held a three-day concert at the Shah Satnam Ji Stadium in Sirsa, Haryana, from August 16, which will be a part of the movie. Singh,, has also given the storyline for the movie, which is funded by the dera itself and is being directed by Jeetu Arora. A few sequences will be shot in southern parts of the country.[9][10]

Release

The film was denied the release certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification, India and was sent to a revising committee. The members of the Central Board of Film Certification objected to the portrayal of Singh as a God in the movie.[11] On 15 January 2015 the film was cleared for screening by the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal. Singh denied that he had called himself God in the film 'MSG:The Messenger '. He further added that there was nothing objectionable in his film and that the Central Board of Film Certification has muted just two words.[12] Punjab and Haryana High Court is also going to allow the release of the film.The film has been fully cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification and is expected to be released on February 13, 2015.[13]

Protests

Various Sikh groups have protested the release of the movie and have demanded a ban on it.[14][15][16]
