Italy

Italy's candidate has not been decided yet: Torino presented its candidature in 2005, in summer 2006 also Milan and Naples decided to bid...

Today, 27/10/2006, Italian Governement voted for Milan for Expo 2015.

Toronto isn't more a candidate city for Expo 2015:

Toronto's 2015 World Expo bid is dead: mayor Last Updated: Tuesday, October 24, 2006 | 8:48 PM ET CBC News Toronto Mayor David Miller said Tuesday that the city's bid for the 2015 World Expo is dead, blaming the provincial and federal governments for refusing to be financial guarantors.

"It's, I think, a very sad day for our city that those governments couldn't agree on a path forward, a way to, yes, a way to make this happen," David Miller told CBC Tuesday.

"But it's Canada's bid, not Toronto's bid. Those are the rules."

The International Bureau of Expositions, a Paris-based organization which awards world's fairs to cities, requires bid countries to agree to pick up a potential deficit.

Ottawa refused to take responsibility for a deficit, citing a 1995 policy that provincial governments act as the financial guarantor for major events such as expositions.

On Tuesday, Ontario's premier made it clear that the province would not act as the financial backstop for the bid.

Turkey and Italy official candidates to host the 2015 Universal Expo

Paris – November 3rd, 2006 – Turkey with the city of Izmir and Italy with the city of Milan are the two official candidates to host the Universal Expo of 2015. November 2nd was the last day for the submission of the official letter of candidature in which the government explicitly states its commitment to the bid.

This formal action, which seems simple on the surface, is the culmination of a long period of internal discussions and preparations between cities and their governments about taking up such a challenge. It is also the beginning of an intense campaign to obtain a majority of votes from the 98 BIE Member States during the General Assembly to be held in early 2008.

Expo 2015 will be the second Universal Expo to take place in the 21st century, after Shanghai, which is currently preparing the 2010 Expo with the theme “Better Life, Better Life”.

The themes proposed by Izmir and Milan also focus on quality of life. Izmir, with the theme "New Routes to a Better World/Health for All", and Milano, with the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” propose a broad-reaching topic that touches on health, the environment and the shaping of sustainable future human spaces.

The International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) embodies the commitment of 98 member States to lead, promote and foster Universal Exhibitions for the benefit of the citizens of the international community. Universal Exhibitions or World’s Fairs are unique global gathering places for living participation fostering – education through experimentation – participation through cooperation – development through innovation

Izmir plan

To me it's not objective enough. Please check it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.2.130.63 (talk) 21:50, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a throw away. Izmir Bid should be reviewed, it seems an advertisement --BlackLukes (talk) 17:00, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Language in paragraph on US

The part following the list of participating countries, describing the participation of the US, does not have a neutral tone and sounds like from a US press release. 193.60.90.99 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 12:12, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You are right, so I removed it. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 01:23, 8 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cost

We should mention the cost of the Expo somewhere.

List of countires not participating

This seems like a pointless list to me, and mainly references the list of countries that are participating. So I will be bold and delete it. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 01:23, 8 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinate error

The following coordinate fixes are needed for This is not the actual location where the venue is taking place. The real location is outside of the urban city while this location is one of the buildings presented by the expo. As mentioned before this is not the location where all the countries are showcasing their 'stuff'. I know this because I visited this location that Wikipedia provided me and it was not the expo.
