Sar or Saar (Arabic: سار) is a residential area in Bahrain, to the west of the capital, Manama. It is a mainly residential district. It is known to be a village of ambassadors, expatriates and wealthy Bahrainis. The University College of Bahrain has a campus in Saar.[1]

History

Saar is the site of a temple, nicknamed "Saar Temple", built during the Dilmun era of Bahrain's history. The temple was believed to have played an important role in marking the summer solstice.[2]

Attractions

Saar also has a 4-screen cinema, owned by Bahrain Cinema, that screens Hollywood and Bollywood, as well as local, movies.[3]

There are three malls located in Saar, one is the Najeebi Centre Mall, The Al Nakheel, and the other is the newly opened Saar Mall (the bigger of the two). These malls accommodate some recognizable brands such as McDonald's, Starbucks, Costa, Esquire(Organic Coffee), and EZ Takeout. Saar Mall even contains Geant "easy" which is an express version of the supermarket giant.

Education
