Lazada Indonesia is the largest online shopping website in Indonesia. With headquarters in Jakarta, the online mall receives more visitors to its website than its local competitors. Founded in 2012, Lazada Indonesia offers around 50,000 products online across over 4,000 online categories, and has developed payment gateways and facilities that are focused on the Indonesian economic model.[1][2]

Lazada Indonesia is part of Lazada Group, a privately owned ecommerce company operating in several territories in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand.[3] With a population of over 240 million people, Indonesia has a robust online economy with the likes of Tokobagus, Tokopedia and Kaskus competing with Lazada for market share.[4] The Lazada Group, based in Singapore, is the parent company of Lazada Indonesia and led by CEO Maximilian Bittner. Lazada Group is backed by Rocket Internet, employs around 2,000 people across the region, and has a reported 2 million visits per day to their websites.[5]

Lazada Indonesia online payment facilities

Lazada Indonesia operates several types of payment facilities for its products, in keeping with the e-commerce model that is popular in Southeast Asia. Cash-on-Delivery (COD) payments are common among Lazada’s online customers, with local bank transfers and credit cards constituting the other payment options. Lazada’s total user base grew from 3.9 million at the end of 2014 to 5.3 million end of Q1 2015[6].

Online revolution

Lazada Group launched the ‘Online Revolution’ in 2013. Starting on 11 November and lasting for one month each year, Lazada offers discounted prices, flash sales every hour and special offers on all of its websites across the region. On November 13, 10,000 units of Chinese cellphone manufacturer Xiaomi’s Redmi Note were sold in under 40 seconds. The Online Revolutions is Lazada’s answer to Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the largest online shopping day in China – Singles’ Day.

The Lazada online shopping App has recently been nominated for the Singapore Readers' Choice Awards 2014.[7]
