Plot summary

Yahaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli is the story of the Thakur family who own a palatial house in Ujjain called Swarna Bhavan. The head of the family, Thakur Uday Pratap Singh (Alok Nath), leads a lavish lifestyle and is proud of his rich heritage. He would under no circumstances compromise his pride and principles, and often insults those whom he sees as inferior to his own upbringing. This earns him the enmity of Jagmohan Prasad, the son of his driver. Jagmohan after witnessing the continual abuse of his father at the hands of Thakur, works and studies hard until he becomes a wealthy, successful lawyer.

Over time, due to his indolent and self-entitled ways, Thakur and his family are eventually forced to leave their home and take residence with their relatives, Raghav Mama and Sheetal Mami. Swarn Bhavan is then bought by Jagmohan, who sees the acquisition as the fulfillment of his lifelong desire for revenge against the man who had treated his father so horribly.

In their new, much less awe-worthy home, Thakur still fails to change his ways, leaving his family in financial straits. As a result, his youngest daughter, Abha, decides to go seek a job in order to make some income without her father's knowledge (he believed that a woman did not belong in the workforce). By a twist of fate, she finds a job as the secretary of Jagmohan. Knowing his hate for her father, she keeps her identity hidden and uses the name Tasveer to avoid recognition.

Despite working hard, her job is further complicated by the older son of Jagmohan and his wife, who have their own plots and plans, while her ability and desire to remain unknown is simultaneously complicated by the antics of the youngest son, Karan, who has fallen in love with her. The story then focuses on Abha and Karan's love story, their subsequent marriage & married life and the problems, situations and challenges faced by them.
