Removal of article
[edit]Mr. Lasher, I did not remove your article. The Wikipedia admins did, as per the policies in effect on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. We welcome all interested parties to edit the Wikipedia, but I would like to strongly recommend that, as relatively new users, you and your associates please familiarize yourself with the site's policies and guidelines so as to avoid further disputes. Another tip on adding things to categories. First find the article, in this case Panama Limited does not exist but Panama Limited (Amtrak) does and is a redirect to City of New Orleans (train). Now the Panama Limited and Panama Limited (Amtrak) may be the same or they may be different, I have no idea. So you can click on Panama Limited and either make a redirect or start a new article. A redirect is made by putting in #REDIRECT [[City of New Orleans (train)]]. If you create the article and want to put it in a category, then at the bottom you would add [[Category:Named passenger trains of the United States]] and it will automatically be added to the correct category. Have fun. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 23:56, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Can someone show me how to do this. The page which states 'To add yourself ...' is confusing, so I do not know where on my userpage to add the into. Thanks.--Jslasher 01:29, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
- It's done. As you add more stuff to your user page you should try and keep the category at the bottom. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 06:02, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Editing out articles
[edit]Hi, I did a quick check on one of the labels you mentioned and it didn't exist, the best thing that I can suggest is to create just one of those articles... then watch the categories for deletion page, if an article is to be deleted there is usually a keep/delete vote actually on the articles discussion page, it is there that you can argue for or against an article staying. Good luck Nick Boulevard 17:17, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
3-strip overlap
[edit]Feel free to correct me here, but isn't the overlap in the actual projected image somewhat imperfect? I think on your site there are tech specs about this. Let me ask, since maybe I'm misunderstanding - "Between Match Lines" and "Perforation Overlap" - what are these definitions of? Anyway, look forward to hearing your response! Thanks, Girolamo Savonarola 09:00, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- Just to get the workprints issue out of the way, I'm not too keen to rely on the prints, since they can easily be prone to many environmental and aging factors that can change the measurements if used as a first source. The machinery and technical papers tend to be more reliable, with prints as a secondary source to verify the info.
- In either case, here's what I've found. Sorry for the odd formatting, but it's easier than re-wrapping all the lines.
<<Page 25 Paragraph 5 “Kinopanorama specifications”>> The specifications for Kinopanorama are different than those for Cinerama and Cinemiracle. The following specifications are estimates based upon careful examination and measurements of Kinopanorama frame samples, along with data collected from other sources. For the sake of clarity, the complete specifications for Kinopanorama are as follows, with corrections and clarifications added as needed: Camera and Negative: Film(s): 3 x 35mm; Lenses: Interchangeable lens sets of 3 x 27mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm; Effective overall useable camera aperture width perf-to-perf 3 x 35mm: 71.72 mm (2.824"); Distance between matchlines: 23.8 mm (0.912"); Overlap from adjacent perfs for each film: 2.2 mm (0.087"); Camera aperture height for each film: 28.0 mm (1.102"); Camera aperture width for each film (runs into perfs): 25.5 mm (1.004"); Effective aspect ratio of camera exposed area (runs into perfs): 2.57 x 1; Effective aspect ratio of useable camera exposed area: 2.56 x 1; Perfs per frame: 6; Camera perf style: Kodak Standard (KS); Linear camera film speed: 140.625 ft. per min.; Useable horizontal angular visual field to be used for projected image: 146, 116, 80, 56, or 38 degrees; Useable vertical angular visual field to be used for projected image: 55, 44, 30, 21, or 14 degrees; Individual camera horizontal angular visual field to be used for projected image: 50, 40, 27, 19, or 13 degrees. Release print: Film(s): 3 x 35mm; Projected image height for each film: 27.5 mm (1.083"); Projected image width for each film: 24.8 mm (0.976"); Effective overall maximum projectable aperture width: 2.801"; Effective overall maximum projectable aperture aspect ratio: 2.59 x 1; Perfs per frame: 6; Projector perf style: Kodak Standard (KS); Projector speed: 25 frames per second; Projector linear film speed: 140.625 ft. per min. except for the films photographed in Sovscope which were 135 ft. per min.; Screen curvature: 146 degrees or 120 degrees or 90 degrees; Sound system: 35mm interlocked magnetic; Soundtrack reproducer linear speed: Same as projector; Sound format: Discrete stereophonic; Soundtracks: Nine; Recorded soundtrack width (each track): 1.6 mm (0.063"); Soundtrack reproducer head width (each track): 1.25 mm (0.050"); Adjacent soundtrack center-to-center spacing: 3.15 mm (0.124"); Outer soundtrack center-to-center spacing to adjacent soundtrack: 7.05 mm (0.2775"); Soundtrack assignments to speaker channels (normal): 1 - Left, 2 - Left Center, 3 - Center, 4 - Right Center, 5 - Right, 6 - Right wall surround, 7 - Back wall surround; 8 - Left wall surround; 9 - Above (ceiling) surround. Note that the Kinopanorama soundtrack 8 is positioned where the Cinerama soundtrack 7 is located so that Cinerama movies may be presented on Kinopanorama equipment without special sound patching except for prints that used Cinerama’s special effect sound configuration. Kinopanorama soundtrack 7 was located outside of the perfs adjacent to soundtrack 8, and soundtrack 9 was located outside of the perfs adjacent to soundtrack 1.
- That's from "Wide Screen Movies" Corrections, which is an essential resource. I've just copied it and placed it here, so give me a minute to read it, too! :) Girolamo Savonarola 09:20, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- Why don't you ask Martin Hart if he'd be interested in the workprint stills and the copies of the Kinopanorama info? I'm certain he'd be far more eager and capable of making sense of it fairly quickly considering his immense background with 3-panel processes. Don't get me wrong, I'm interested, but I feel that he'd be a far better resource. Girolamo Savonarola 09:45, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Corrections to Tech Specs on Kinopanorama Website.
[edit]Although the corrections suggested by Girolamo were accurate at the time, and, replaced those previously on the www.kinopanorama.biz website, they have since been called into question by Mr Dan Sherlock, from whom some of the original information was extracted by Girolamo.--Jslasher 04:29, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit]This Wikipedia page has been superseded by Wikipedia talk:Birthday Committee and is retained primarily for historical reference. |
I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Imre, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Imre. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. I've looked this over and I think the editor in question made a good faith edit. If like me the only quick reference they had at hand is the WWD then it is understandable why he would make the edit he did. You mention that other sources, like The Top 10 of Everything, give the height as 808m and that it's the third highest. My suggestion here is that you give the other sources, not all of them, one or two is OK and quote them as part of the article. They don't have to be online sources but just reliable. The problem is that sources can differ. As an example of this look at James Bruce Falls which the WWD says is the largest in Canada and then the Atlas of Canada ( a very relilable source) that says Della Falls is Canada's highest. [edit]Would one of the administrators kindly remove all text on my User talk page in respect to the Birthday Committee as well as the WikiFilms Project. I do not know how to do this. WP:FILMS Questionnaire
[edit]As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

An exciting opportunity to get involved!
[edit]As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 04:46, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
