Sizdah Be-dar ([سیزده به در] Error: {{Lang-xx}}: text has italic markup (help)), stylized as 13 Bedar, translated as "thirteenth in outdoors," officially known as Ruz-e Tabiat (Persian: "روز طبیعت"), translated as "Nature's day," is an Iranian festival, and part of the Nowruz celebration rituals, held annually on the thirteenth day of Farvardin (the first month of the Iranian calendar), during which people spend time picnicking outdoors.[1] It is celebrated thirteen days after the vernal equinox.
Observances
Sizdah Be-dar is celebrated on the thirteenth day of Nowruz, the Iranian New Year. It is celebrated by leaving houses to join nature, and spending the day outdoors.
Lie of the Thirteen
Lie of the Thirteen ([دروغ سیزده – Doruq e Sizda'] Error: {{Lang}}: text has italic markup (help)) is the Iranian version of the prank-playing April Fools' Day which is practiced on the first or the second day of April in Iran, on the day of Sizdah Be-dar.[2][3][4] It has been directly borrowed from April Fools' Day, and has become in vogue in Iran due to its coincidence with the day of the celebration of Sizdah Be-dar.
