WTIS (1110 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Religious format. Licensed to Tampa, Florida, USA, it serves the Tampa Bay area. The station is currently owned by WTIS-AM, Inc.

The station broadcasts during daytime hours only, to protect clear channel stations WBT in Charlotte, North Carolina and KFAB in Omaha, Nebraska.

Station history

This station was formerly WALT, a pioneer Top-40 station in the Tampa area.

In 1970, Suncoast Radio, the owners of future WQYK-FM 99.5, bought WALT and relaunched it as a country music station, WQYK. The signal was simulcast with WQYK-FM until 1976, when the AM station was sold to a religious broadcaster and its call letters changed to WTIS.

Licensed to Tampa, WTIS’ transmitter, and directional three-tower array are located in St. Petersburg at 311 112th Avenue N.E. In addition to its regular religious programming, WTIS airs The Debra Evans in the Morning Show, The Herman Cain Show, and The Pete O'Shea Show.
