Pondok Indah is an upper-class housing estate located in South Jakarta, Indonesia. Residents are generally expatriates from nearly 60 countries but the area is favoured by wealthy Indonesians. The average salary for residents is US$357,200 p.a. plus benefits. Most mansions in the area comprise 3 to 5 floors with designated quarters for servants. It is uncommon for mansions in the region not to include swimming pools. Most children in the region attend the prestigious Jakarta International School, and it is common for younger children to be accompanied to school by their nanny.


Domestic Servants

Residents in Pondok Indah generally have servants provided by their employer or from an agency. Most commonly, residents have a maid, chauffer and jaga (security guard) but many familes also have a nanny to assist younger children.

Shopping and Entertainment =

A local shopping complex, Pondok Indah Mall caters for residents. The complex comprises of a five-floor shopping mall, 21-screen cinema, four mutli-floor department stores and nearly 400 specialty shops (including restaurants). Due to increased security measures, including vehicle and bag inspections, plus a strong precense of security, the mall is considered safe by many customers.

1983 Golf World Cup Venue

The Pondok Indah Golf and Country Club was the venue of the 1983 golf world cup.
