- ✓ Pass The submitter revised the article to remove promotional language as advised, so that seems fine now. The title "Puttana Venkatramana Raju" is blacklisted. It would take an admin to approve this. The problem might be related to the 2009 Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Puttana Venkatramana Raju. My opinion is that this article meets Wikipedia's notability criteria on the basis of this person receiving several government awards. This person was also listed in several editions of Who's Who in both pre independence India and since then. There are details to sort but these references

Rao Bahadur Puttana Venkataramana Raju (ISE).[1] BE(Hons), FIE(I). (1894-1975[2]) was a civil engineer in the Indian Service of Engineers. His notable works include contributions to building the Dowleswaram Barrage, Prakasam Barrage, Madras Airport, and many other more routine projects include the development of roads and the directing of waterways. He received a Rao Bahadur award for his contributions to civil and hydraulics engineering and the development of engineering education.[1]
Career and notable projects with the Indian Service of Engineers (1919-50)
He qualified for the Indian Service of Engineers, [1][3] and engaged in many civil engineering projects in its Public Works Department, including in remote areas of the Madras Presidency. He was involved in knowledge exchange[4] and technical development during his tours of Europe in 1938 of water Management systems, modern methods of road making, soil mechanics laboratories, construction of high dams and irrigation works. [3] He conducted special examinations of weak bridges along trunk roads in Madras state (1940-41).[3] His expertise in high dams, hydraulics and pressure grouting resulted in development of theory and techniques which he shared in several technical lectures, presentations and papers.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]
During World War II, he was posted as ARP Special Engineer under the War Department, Govt. of India to develop Madras Airport from 1942-44. He was promoted to the position of Superintending Engineer in March 1944[1][3], and awarded the Rao Bahadur by the Government of India[1][3] and conferred the Fellowship by the Institution of Engineers (India)[13][14] [15][16][17]. He was a Member of the International Association for Hydraulic Research.[3] He represented the Madras Govt. as their official delegate to Indian Roads Congress[18], Bombay (1939[3]), Madras (1945)[3], Jaipur (1946)[3] and Trivandrum (1947)[3]. He was appointed by the Indian Roads Congress to the List of Committees and Sub-committees set up by the 30th Council meeting in 1947[19] and also by the 31st Council meeting at Roorkee on the 13th April, 1948 for the Design of Rigid Pavements[20]: i. He was appointed to the position of Consulting Engineer[1] to the Government of India(Roads) in May 1942 and later appointed as Industrial Adviser to the Government of India in April 1944[1]. He participated in the Govt. of Madras Legislative Council proceedings in 1947[21]
Subsequent career
After retiring from the ISE, he took over as the Chief Engineer with the Simpsons Group and concurrently gave lectures in Civil Engineering continuing from his earlier 1939-40 series under the Madras University and Maharaja of Travancore-Curzon Endowment scheme[3] on case studies of Roads in Holland & The reclamation of the Zuyder Zee in Holland. Later he took on the position of Dean of Engineering studies at Annamalai University[3] and he was Chairman[3], Board of Examiners as well as member of the Academic Senate[3], Syndicate and Academic Council[3], at this time he was also an active member of The Association of Principals and Technical Institutions[3]. He was a Grand Council member of the Masonic Lodge of Southern India.[22][23].
Recognition
Raju was honoured by the Government of India with the Rao Bahadur award for contributions to the fields of Civil & Hydraulics Engineering and the development of Engineering Education.[3][1]
Family
Puttana Venkataramana Raju married S G Pillamma Venkatamma, they had 4 sons and 4 daughters[3].
