Fried bread
Fried bread is bread, sliced or baked especially for the purpose, fried and served as part of, or as an accompaniment to, a food dish.
In a traditional Irish breakfast one would come across two types of fried breads. Fried soda bread and fried potato farls (a dense potato bread) were common at the traditional Irish breakfast table.
A British fry-up may include fried bread, as may the traditional full English breakfast. In the UK, fried bread may also refer to French Toast or Eggy toast, in which bread is coated in a mix of whole egg, sugar and milk, and then fried to accompany an English Breakfast or as a snack.
An Ulster fry contains at least two types of fried bread - soda and potato bread, and often fried wheaten farls. Sometimes fried pancakes are also added.
