Year of Birth ?

This was quoted earlier as 1913, as still reflected in the '1913 Births' link in the footer. But it is now quoted as 1916, with her age-at-death accordingly adjusted to 57. The imdb entry still says 1913, and states that her birth year was often erroneously given as 1918. Any enlightenment? 86.148.132.69 (talk) 11:39, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm inclined to believe 1913, given how far back her stage credits go. It strikes me as strange that Miss Field's exact year of birth hasn't been confirmed. She came from an old, prominent American family, wasn't maybe a blue blood but she had some distinguished relations, such as poet Eugene Field. Old families like that generally keep accurate records. I can see why Betty Field would want to take off a few years when she was starting out on stage and in films, but after her death it makes no sense to keep her real birth years a secret.
