Algeria

The Algero–Brazilian relations is the relationship between the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Federative Republic of Brazil. Algeria maintains an embassy in Brasilia and Brazil has an embassy in Algiers.

History

Brazil established relations with Algeria following the independence of Algeria from France at 1962.

Recently, two countries have engaged in a closer relationship between Brazil and Algeria. In 2015, Brazil considered Algeria as a "partner of choice",[1] and has been wishing to forge a closer relations between two states.[2]

Sports

The Algerian football team during 2014 FIFA World Cup had drawn a significant impressions among the Brazilian Arab community as for being the only Arab country that qualified to the tournament. Algeria had played a very successful tournament and qualified to the round of sixteen for the first time with a passive football style. Later, the Algerian U23 team had also gone to Brazil for the 2016 Summer Olympics, although not successful like the senior side two years ago.
