Was this page written by Ian Paice's kid or something? Seriously, I didn't think that Wikipedia pages were supposed to be fan pages. Jazzypaul 19:22, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

right on the money jazzypaul. It's some dumm kid who's guarding this page like is HIS! ...if you try to edit it he's changing it back in a matter of minutes. he need's a girlfriend or somethin' ...

Paice/Ashton/Lord?

Wasn't there a short-lived group Paice/Ashton/Lord, with John Lord? Bubba73 (talk), 15:28, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See this. If I remember correctly, Rory Gallagher was also in it. Bubba73 (talk), 15:33, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rory was never in PAL; guitarist was Bernie Marsden, ex babe Ruth and future Whitesnake Harryurz 18:42, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, that was based on my (less than perfect) memory of 20+ years ago. I think P/A/L should be mentioned in the article. Bubba73 (talk), 23:16, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

contradiction

"he is the only founding member of the band still performing with the group, and the only founding member never to have left the group." if hes the only founding member left in the band then doesnt logic say that he mustve beeen the only one never to leave the group? wtf? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.179.183.28 (talk) 06:56, August 27, 2007 (UTC)

Well, someone could leave and then come back, in theory. Someguy1221 06:59, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ringo Starr did, with The Beatles. Very briefly. 195.194.178.157 (talk) 13:51, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, Ian Paice didn't found Deep Purple. It was founded by Blackmore and Lord who just happened to take Ian as there drummer.68.2.158.119 (talk) 07:48, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This supposed list of best drummers needs a reliable source. 24.187.214.210 (talk) 20:56, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What's the story?

"The early years

Ian Paice got his first drum kit at 15. He began his professional career in the late 50s playing drums in his father's dance band."

Yes, it's undeniably correct that Ian was born (on this very day, hooray!) in 1948. But it is really true that he started professionally some five (or so) years before he turned 15 in 1963? Wasn't the man busy learning to read and write in the late 50s? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.227.58.49 (talk) 09:22, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

From my recollection, most people in the UK in that era learned to read and write by age 7 or earlier (assuming they didn't have learning difficulties), which for Ian Paice would have been in 1955 or earlier. If his father (or an associate) taught him as a child he may well have played in some gigs on the band's kit while a schoolboy, before being given his own personal one. However, it would seem worth looking into since it doesn't have a citation. I'll see if I can find something. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.202.160.23 (talk) 21:12, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

w/Odessa

I was just poking around on YouTube and Paice doing a drum solo with Odessa and the song "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin, but there is no mention of it in this article. Who is Odessa? (Even if the lead singer says "lotta" funny.) - 143.120.99.10 (talk) 22:55, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Drum clinics/guest performances

Seems this section is getting awfully long, we should maybe condense it in to a table, collapse the section, both or move it to a subpage ? Thoughts ? Mlpearc (open channel) 21:04, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

eh??

Born in Nottingham (1948) but moving south in early childhood, Ian Paice got his first drum kit at 15. He began his professional career in the late 50s playing drums in his father's dance band. =- played drums before he had a drum kit then? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.171.8.4 (talk) 15:53, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As mentioned above, he might have been taught, and have played gigs, on the band's kit before later being given his own personal one, but will attempt to corroborate. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.202.160.23 (talk) 21:15, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
