An encyclopedia is compendium of knowledge. It is not the role of Wikipedia to correct the body of knowledge on a topic. Nor is it necessary for Wikipedia to present a cohesive perspective or conclusive argument, nor even the truth.
In relation to these topics, we acknowledge:
- Their fraught nature
- The diversity of perspectives among editors and reliable sources
- The personal importance they have for editors
- The significance of words in describing them
