made a graph based on the table in Post-Tax income distribution
Hi, I've made a graph based on the table in Post-Tax income distribution and uploaded it here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a2/British_household_income.jpg But I don't know how to link it into the page - *jb (talk) 02:17, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
The data in this data article don't seem consistent with each other. How is it that median income post tax seems much higher than income before tax. Is this due to the use of different years? I think this article does require a lot of cleaning up to clarify what it all means and also to update the out-of-date information 81.100.102.51 (talk) 01:08, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
This "Post-tax household income" graph is mislabeled along the bottom axis making it misleading. What the graph actually shows is a very strong skew in household income.
I've google up this https://theuxbridgegraduate.wordpress.com/2013/09/29/definitively-rich/ which explains the difference. It's upper graph is consistent with the label on the graph here, the lower graph consistent with the data shown. 185.6.155.248 (talk) 08:40, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
Source for the wealth figures
The wealth section says the figures are from HMRC for the year 2004-5. The only figures from the HMRC that I can find are here: http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=2 - the latest year in this table is 2003, although the figures seem to correspond to the ones given on this page for 2004-5. However, the HMRC figures I found lack a value for the second percentile. Is there a source for this figure? Nathaniel Virgo (talk) 15:48, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
- I've added a ref. David Trochos (talk) 19:54, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
Median salary

- "median" is used several times in the early part of the article in a way that may be intended to mean "average". "Median" is the central number in a range — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.29.164.232 (talk) 16:25, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
What happened to the tables?
I just edited it to add a load more data and somehow glued two tables together! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.149.231.26 (talk) 00:24, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
no people on less than £10/day
Can we fix this? anybody under 25 and claiming sickness or unemployment benefits is living on jusy shy on £8.15 a day. It's hardly 'virtually no-one' — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.19.237.43 (talk) 18:19, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
- That doesn't include housing benefits, which are normally considerably more. Absolutelypuremilk (talk) 10:26, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
Also, arguably, healthcare and education which are effectively provided for free to this income group. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.108.92.22 (talk) 13:51, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
Northern Ireland
The page refers to the UK but no mention is made of Northern Ireland, even the median income map relates exclusively to Great Britain. Barliner talk 18:18, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
- Unfortunately it seems that most sources focus on GB rather than Northern Ireland. If you find some sources which do mention NI, I would be happy to add them to the article. Absolutelypuremilk (talk) 19:14, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
