Crayon Data is a Singapore based big data and AI startup. The company is headquartered in Singapore with a development center in India.

History

Crayon Data was founded in 2012 by Suresh Shankar, Srikant Sastri and Ivaturi Vijaya Kumar [1]. Crayon Data opened a development center in March 2013 at Chennai, India. In September 2013, the company received US$1.75 Million in it's second round of fund-raising from Ravi Tharkan, the CEO of L Capital Asia and Ravi Mantha, president, TiE Singapore. [2]

In October 2013, Crayon Data launched the TasteGraph, a cognitive algorithm with billions of data points on consumer lifestyle [3]. In February 2014, Crayon Data received 7.3 crore angel funding from Jungle Ventures, a Singapore based capital firm.[4]

In August 2014, Mindshare engaged in an exclusive partnership with Crayon Data to fuel Mindshares's planning and insights.[5].In August 2015, Ratan Tata, former chairman of Tata Group made an undisclosed investment to Crayon Data [6]. In February 2016, Japanese conglomerate Mitsui & Co made an undisclosed investment [7].

In November 2017, Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan, former executive vice chairman of Infosys made an undisclosed personal investment [8] [9]. In October 2018, Crayon Data was backed by Ratan Tata and Kris Gopalakrishnan to raise series B fund [10].

Product

Crayon's flagship product maya.ai is an AI engine that helps businesses offer personalized recommendations to their customers. The product was introduced for the banking and e-commerce verticals [11].
