Taran Adarsh in 2008

Taran Adarsh (born 13 June 1965)[1] is an Indian film critic, journalist, editor and film trade analyst. He is the son of B. K. Adarsh. He is best known for giving trade figures and box office updates on Twitter.

Career

Taran Adarsh started his journalism career at the age of 17 as the Editor of Trade Guide, a weekly box office magazine.[2] In 1994, Adarsh produced and wrote the Bollywood film-based TV serial Hello Bollywood, starring Shehzad Khan and Kashmira Shah.[citation needed] He continued his work on Trade Guide alongside. He is currently an active film critic, journalist and trade analyst on Bollywood Hungama, a Bollywood entertainment website. Adarsh has been accused of giving fake paid reviews to films on many occasions.[3] In 2018, a leaked video showed him dancing with Simmba (2018)'s lead Ranveer Singh, director Rohit Shetty and producer Karan Johar during the film's special screening; he later reviewed the film, granting it four stars out of five.[4] This led to the questioning of his reviews' credibility.[5]
